Cruise on down for the next Dream Car Classic, where dozens of classic and custom cars will be on display.

The Dream Car Classic, produced by the Downtown Hollywood Business Association (DHBA), features pre-1980 classic cars as well as modern classics and custom cars post 1981, car show awards and DJ oldies music. The free monthly car show, a longtime popular event that returned in February after a nearly two-year absence, draws both serious automobile enthusiasts and families looking for an entertaining way to spend a Sunday.

Car show coordinator David Erickson said the revival of the Dream Car Classic in Downtown Hollywood is symbolic of the resurgence of the national economy.
“People want to enjoy daily life, and the automobile brings that joy,” said Erickson, president of Street Smart Events Inc. “Downtown Hollywood is a great destination every day of every week, with a great mix of active businesses. Our restaurants represent our diversity of cultures. The automobiles at the monthly Dream Car Classic represent the culture of the past and our current times.”
Antique autos, muscle cars and exotic concept cars are all welcome. The winners of the People’s Choice Award in the classic and modern classes will each receive a $100 cash prize, with Dream Car Classic T-shirts awarded to the owners of the Top Ten Vehicles. Car show registration is $10 and will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. Participating vehicles should enter the show at 20th Avenue and Tyler Street.
There is no charge for admission to the Dream Car Classic, which takes place the first Sunday of the month through June. Upcoming dates are May 6 and June 3.

Annette Recommends Odysseo

Due to an overwhelming reception by the South Florida community and strong ticket sales, Cavalia’s new production, “Odysseo,” announced that a third additional week will be added to the limited engagement of the production at Bicentennial Park, which will extend its stay in Miami until March 18, 2012.

After an extended standing ovation on opening night, Miami Herald’s Howard Cohen commented about the show “If Walt Disney were still alive, he might create a show as magical as Cavalia’s new ‘Odysseo.’ But it wouldn’t be better than the wonderful world mastermind Normand Latourelle has created under his White Big Top.” Nathalie Rodriguez of WMIA-FM, 98.3, describes the show as “One word split in two: awe-some! It’s artistic & majestical, but most importantly not to be missed!” Soul of Miami raved “The show is truly amazing. Between the astounding horsemanship and acrobatics combined with the awesome scenery and visual effects, this show will leave you wanting to see more. This is one show you will not want to miss.”

“We are delighted to finally be back in Miami,” expressed Normand Latourelle, founder and artistic director of Cavalia. “Our first show was received wonderfully by the South Florida community two years ago, but the reception of our new production, ‘Odysseo,’ has been overwhelmingly wonderful. In an effort to please the public, we will extend the run to please the high demand.”

TICKETS
For its exclusive run in Miami, Odysseo will be presented under the White Big Top at Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami. Tickets are on sale now at the introductory price of $59.50 to $109.50 + applicable fees for regular tickets. For guests who desire an extraordinary outing, the show can be customized for an extended experience from $144.50 to $199.50, including a Horse Lovers Package that lets patrons tour the Cavalia stables after the show, and the VIP Rendez-Vous Package which includes a tour of the stables after the show, a cocktail/dinner reception and much more. Special pricing is also available for children (2-12), juniors (13-17), and senior citizens (65+). For ticket information, please visit www.cavalia.net or call 1-866-999-8111.

SHOWTIMES
During Odysseo’s Miami run, there will be nightly shows except Sundays and Mondays, matinee and evening shows on Saturdays and matinee shows on Sundays. For more information, a detailed list of show dates and reservations, call 1-866-999-8111 or visit cavalia.net.

Headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Cavalia Inc. operates two separate touring shows, Cavalia and Odysseo, both of which marry the equestrian arts, stage arts and high-tech theatrical effects at never-before-seen levels. Cavalia, seen by some 3.5 million people across North America and Europe since its 2003 debut, celebrates the relationship between humans and horses by loosely recounting the evolution of this bond. Odysseo, which premiered in autumn 2011, takes the next step, leading viewers on a journey through some of the breathtaking landscapes horses have helped humans discover around the globe.
