Kendall’s critically-acclaimed restaurant and lounge, Devon Seafood + Steak will team up with local favorite Funky Buddha Brewery for an indulgent BBQ feast on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Taking place on Devon’s beautiful waterfront patio, beginning at 7PM, the special one-night only Beer & BBQ tasting event will feature five mouthwatering courses perfectly paired with Funky Buddha libations.

Guests will enjoy an evening of local brews combined with southern-inspired dishes and fresh takes on classic barbeque plates, all expertly crafted by Executive Chef Rod Chitikov. The ultimate dining experience for craft beer aficionados and BBQ lovers alike is priced at $55 per person, including beer pairings (tax and gratuity not included).

This event is part of Devon Seafood + Steak’s monthly tasting series at the restaurant, originally launched in 2013. Fast approaching its fifth anniversary, the Bird Road Art Walk continues to bring artists and collectors together. On the 3rd Saturday of each month, artists’ open their studios, along with alternative spaces and galleries that dot the industrial area along SW 74 Ave & SW 75 Ave.

The event features a broad range of contemporary, emerging and established artists working in a variety of mediums ranging from photography to sculpture, mix media, conceptual art, ceramics, drawing, painting etc… art and unique items for all tastes and budgets.

The Bird Road Art Walk is FREE & OPEN to the public. The event is organized and funded by the Bird Road Art District, Inc., a non-profit volunteer based organization.

Kiddos Magazine, South Florida’s parenting magazine, will host a free Back-to-School Bash and Second Anniversary celebration at the Falls Mall on Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd.

“The Elephant” as in ‘the elephant in the room’ is metaphorical idiom for an obvious truth that is either being ignored or going unaddressed. The idiomatic expression also applies to an obvious problem or risk no one wants to discuss, It is based on the idea that an elephant in a room would be impossible to overlook; thus, people in the room who pretend the elephant is not there have chosen to avoid dealing with the looming big issue.

This summer, Miami Seaquarium will offer fun and cool alternatives to beat the heat with the return of its Splashtacular Summer celebration. Children will be able to enjoy inflatable water slides and wet slip-n-slides in the park’s Splashtacular Summer Kid’s Water Play Area. Now through August 23, 2015, the park will feature aquatic play elements for guests to enjoy.
The Water Play Area will feature seven themed water slides including: Tropical Slide, King Slide, Tsunami Slide, Ocean, Double Slide, Double Splash and Shark Escape Slide and Niagara Falls. Continuity plays a critical role in filmmaking and it will make the difference between an amateur effort from a professional one. All filmmakers will benefit from a solid foundation in continuity. This is an essential flash lab designed for everyone who wants a fluent understanding of the role and function of the script supervisor, and is aimed at helping both independent filmmakers and future script supervisors alike.

CARMEN SORIANO has been working in the film industry for over 25 years. As a Script Supervisor or Continuity Person, she has done many features, TV series, and commercials in the US, Europe, and Latin America. She has had the opportunity of working with many important directors such as Robert Altman, Guillermo del Toro, Steven Soderbergh, Michael Bay, and Alejandro Amenabar. In addition, she has worked as Production Coordinator, directed a few short films, and produced a feature and short films. She has worked on Pain & Gain, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Others & The Wonder Years.

Meet Kenny Riches

Kenny Riches was born in Toyota City, Japan, raised in Utah, and currently resides in Miami, Florida. He holds a BFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Utah. His first feature film, Must Come Down, premiered at Cinequest and went on to screen at Newport Beach Film Festival, Minneapolis/St. Paul International, among others. His second feature film, The Strongest Man, was shot in Miami and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and has since traveled to festivals worldwide. He is Vice President of The David Ross Fetzer Foundation for Emerging Artists, which is a grant giving organization for filmmakers and playwrights, founded in memory of David Fetzer.

One of Miami Beach’s favorite hangouts, Thompson Miami Beach, is celebrating the Fourth of July with a poolside Dirty BBQ. The cookout will be all-American with a Thompson twist, featuring messy favorites from Dale Talde’s Asian-American TALDE restaurant (opening late summer at Thompson), like the famous Kung Pao Chicken Wings with buttermilk ranch (5 for $8 or 10 for $10) and Korean Fried Chicken as a plate (1 pc, $10) or bucket ($25). The highly anticipated launch is a time to set the tone and give a snapshot of the Miami Broward Carnival season. The event takes place on Saturday, July 18,2015 from 8pm-4am at the Miami-Dade County Fair Grounds(10901 Southwest 24 Street, Miami, FL 33165). Named one of the Top 100 Events in South Florida by Bizbash.com, Miami Broward Carnival is a rich cultural heritage staple within the multicultural footprint of the South Florida landscape.

The cultural show lineup that begins at 8pm includes; performance by soca artist Iwer George, Explosion Band, and a runway model show with the masquerade bands showcasing this year’s costumes. Like-Minded Urban Professionals Party with a Purpose
Miami, FL-The 8th Annual Miami Takeover Experience will take place in sunny South Beach from July 9-13, 2015. Attendees will enjoy seven signature events at Miami’s premiere entertainment spots. The host hotels for this year’s Takeover include the SLS South Beach, the Aloft South Beach and the Cantina Hotel & Beach Club.

Over 3,000 visitors from Pennsylvania, DC, Maryland, Virginia, Texas, North Carolina and Georgia are expected to participate in Miami Takeover along with the 92,000 visitors expected in Miami that weekend. In the past, Miami Takeover has hosted notable personalities such as Trey Songz (R&B singer), Sanaa Lathan (Actress), Dave Chappelle (Comedian), Doug E. Fresh (Rapper/Celebrity Host) and MC Lyte (Celebrity DJ/Rapper), just to name a few.
“Miami Takeover is geared to provide like-minded urban professionals with a stress free getaway in the ideal vacation spot in Miami,” says Wylie Kynard, general partner of WK&F Group.

Hosted by radio personality Lorenzo “Ice T” Thomas, Miami Takeover events will take place in Miami’s most upscale spots including Mansion Nightclub, Nikki Beach, Ocean 10 and the South Beach Convention Center. Attendees will also get the opportunity to give back to the community by participating in two community outreach projects: a beach clean-up and a dental screening for kids at the Overtown Youth Foundation.

“Most people go to Miami just for the parties and nightlife but don’t necessarily learn more about the community they are visiting,” says Kynard. “Miami Takeover allows visitors and Miami natives the opportunity to enjoy Miami’s nightlife and also give back to the community all in one weekend.”

Miami Takeover is partnering with Colgate Palm Olive screening to provide 140 kids free dental screenings at the Overtown Youth Center. The screening will take place July 9. There will fun bounce houses at the dental screening along with a house emporium geared toward the kids attending.

“We want to give back to the community for allowing us to hold such great events in Miami,” says event logistic director, Dianne Walker of DeeWorks Enterprises.

The beach clean-up is presented in partnership with the Miami Beach Convention Center and the Environmental Coalition of Miami. The beach-clean up will take place Sunday, July 12th from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Both locals and visitors are welcome to volunteer to help clean up a portion of South Beach (17th-20th Avenue).

MIAMI, FL May 18, 2015 – The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and Lookingglass Theatre Company, a 2011 Regional Theater Tony Award-winning group of multi-disciplined ensemble of artists, are proud to present the Florida premiere of LOOKINGGLASS ALICE as its marquee presentation for summer 2015. A circus tribute to Lewis Caroll, LOOKINGGLASS ALICE is a spectacular journey into Alice in Wonderland’s magical world complete with gravity-defying thrills and breathtaking theatricality. Set and experienced entirely on the Center’s Ziff Ballet Opera House Lynn Wolfson stage, LOOKINGGLASS ALICE flies into Miami on July 8 through Aug. 16. Tickets are now on sale.

Back by popular demand, The Dutch at W South Beach Hotel & Residences will host its annual Bourbon, Beer and ‘Cue July dining series. Featuring a summer filled with the best BBQ Miami’s top chefs have to offer, the weekly event will take place every Wednesday evening in July from 7PM to close in The Dutch’s very own backyard, the Grove.

Each week, Chef de Cuisine Conor Hanlon will team up with a rotating list of guest chefs and mixologists to craft a mouth-watering BBQ feast served family-style, featuring seasonal pies and summer sweet treats by pastry chef Josh Gripper. MetroPCS and Your South Florida Chevy Dealers present Monster Jam, brought to you B-K-T, the official tire of Monster Jam. The event will be at the BB&T Center from Aug. 7 to 8. This international racing series entertains more than four million fans annually, showing off its three main elements – the pit party, racing and freestyle!

With three shows, fans will get to experience:

• The Party in the Pits, which takes place on Saturday, Aug. 8 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to get up close shots of the monster trucks and meet the drivers!

• U.S. Hot Rod Association® Monster Trucks include world champion Grave Digger® driven by Pablo Huffaker, El Toro Loco®, Zombie driven by Sean Duhon, MADUSA®, Monster Energy driven by Damon Bradshaw and Monster Mutt® Dalmatian driven by Candice Jolly!
Approximately 12 feet tall and about 12 feet wide, Monster Jam trucks are custom-designed machines that sit atop 66-inch-tall tires and weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds. Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, monster trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Monster trucks can fly up to 125 to 130 feet (a distance greater than 14 cars side by side) and up to 35 feet in the air.

Monster Jam® events are affordably priced for the whole family with seats starting at $10 for children and $20 for adults. Ticket prices increase on the day of show and gates open one hour before showtime.

RAW is an indie arts organization for artists, by artists. It focuses on spotlighting indie underground talent to the public. Every other month, our 60+ locations worldwide hand-select 40 emerging artists in film, fashion, music, visual art, photography, accessories, performing art, hair, and makeup. They are able to sell their work, showcase their work, and network with the local community.

On July 2nd, we’ll be hosting our summer showcase! We’ll have 3 musicians including a performance by Peezy and Lala, fashion and accessory vendors including handbag designer Claire Jean-Gilles of Classy Lady Creations, an art gallery of 30+ visual artists and photographers including gMozel and Jasmin Alex, as well as a live makeup installation by Alicia Coke, and 6 fashion shows including RAW Hollywood designer Weird Folks apparel, and a swimwear fashion show by GSaints Swimwear.

The event is 21+, cocktail attire, street parking or there is a parking ramp at Midtown off of N.Miami Ave and 36th St., Valet parking is $15, Doors open at 7pm, 7-8pm cocktail hour with half priced drinks and small bites menu all night!
