Chef Larry Chi has hand selected this menu for the month of December till January. This varied menu includes Atlantic Salmon wrapped with thinly sliced cucumbers with massage and to top it off a massage cilantro vinaigrette. The Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida, one of the most applauded ballet companies in South Florida, continues their successful 2015-2016 season with the presentation of the classic Christmas Ballet most anticipated by the whole family, “The Nutcracker”, performing in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale under the direction of the Master Vladimir Issaev.

“The Nutcracker” ballet, the most popular holiday treat of all, tells the story of Clara, who on Christmas Eve decides to make a journey at the hand of her beloved Nutcracker, who comes to life and battles with the evil Mouse King, and helps Clara reach the land of the Sweets.

WHERE ALL BEGINS

Originally, it all started in Russia when Ivan Vsevolozhky, who was director of the Imperial Theatres, commissioned “The Nutcracker” to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, composer of successful ballets like Sleeping Beauty and the Queen of Spades (Píkovaya dama). Marius Petipa, responsible for the original choreography and then Director of Ballet of St. Petersburg, made the stage dramatization of the original story of Ernest Hoffman.

However, it wasn’t until a year later that this piece came to be released, and the Petipa choreography could not be finished because she fell ill. The Nutcracker world premiere was on December 18, 1892, at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, and it wasn’t until 1934 that it was given performances outside of Russia.

This staging features original choreography by Master Issaev, while maintaining the traditional lines of the Russian ballet. Through the years Issaev also managed a ballet group that is headed today by Miami’s prima ballerina, Venezuelan Mary Carmen Catoya who, this year, will dance the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy for Issaev!

Ms. Catoya, who joined the company in August 2015, has brought the best experience of her dancing to the Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida which, this December, celebrates 18 years of forming new generations of ballet lovers in South Florida.

Mary Carmen Catoya will alternate the role of the Sugarplum Fairy with the leading players Lillian Hill, Hinano Eto and Aya Baba and their princes, Hernan Montenegro and Ramil Bagmanov, who will perform at both the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center and the Parker Playhouse in Ft. Lauderdale.

On December 18th, the traditional Nutcracker Gala will be held at the Parker Playhouse in Ft. Lauderdale to benefit the non-profit company, where VIP guests that attend can enjoy a Pre Show reception where wines from the Alanis and Joaquin Rebolledo cellars will be offered, accompanied by sparkling of Fragamoura. Guests will also be meeting the dancers, and will have the opportunity to participate in a Silent Auction, with prizes that range from a trip to the Bahamas, to fine jewelry, sports memorabilia and holiday baskets.

The Little Lighthouse Foundation is hosting its first Art Week Opening Beach Party on Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 4pm – 9pm.  The party will be held in the beach tent at the newly opened Nautilus, a SIXTY Hotel, in Miami Beach. A minimum donation of $50 to The Little Lighthouse Foundation is required to attend the event. All proceeds will benefit The Little Lighthouse Foundation and support its programming that helps local children and their families who struggle with medical, educational, emotional and financial challenges.
 
The celebration kicks off Art Week with artful installations, light fare, and music by DJ Patrick Pizzorni and DJ Marcos Noel. Lively art from New York City’s Eddy Bogaert and Miami’s Glen Miller will transform the oceanfront tent into an imaginative oasis. Guests will enjoy a complementary premium bar throughout the event. The Junior Orange Bowl is holding its 67th annual parade on Sunday, November 29th at 4pm in downtown Coral Gables. To honor the history of the event, the Junior Orange Bowl will be celebrating “Our Historic Hometown” as its 67th Parade theme and paying homage to the 90th anniversary of the City of Coral Gables. Over 60 individual units will be on display as they march through the streets of Coral Gables. Kicking off the Miami Art Week, Ricieri Art Studio presents a red carpet night for a unique exhibition featuring the Italian-Brazilian Artist Roberto Ricieri on December 1. The Emotions of R. Ricieri will display over 100 works by the artist, including his highly regarded Infinity Series of paintings, as well as sculptures and drawings. Attendees will also enjoy a hardcover book with five of his collections, a documentary movie, his own testimony about his time in captivity and how it led to him becoming an artist.

Born in 1959 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Ricieri has created more than 1,000 paintings, using acrylic on canvas, along drawing with pencil and carbon. He discovered his style and way of thinking about art in prison, which affected his work with real life inspiration and deep emotion. Admired by many, Ricieri never attended art school. As an entrepreneur, he often traveled to Europe and North America where he spent much of his time observing the masters of art in museums around the world.

The Infinity Collections by R. Ricieri are a collaboration between the Tara Art Collection Sylvia White Gallery of Los Angeles California and the Noel Santiesteban. This exhibition beautifully combines his innovative work with fascinating aspects of his life in captivity. The 130-page book titled “Ricieri: The Art Born from Captivity” will be released at the event for purchase. The publication includes 80 full-color paintings by the artist.

California based artist, Blair Martin Cahill exhibits sculptures and other works that present a completely unique art series, from December 2-6, 2015 at SPECTRUM Miami located in the Arts + Entertainment District. Cahill’s work explores the fragile and impermeable through the juxtaposition of dissimilar materials in her work, such as steel and silk, making it clear that strength should not be judged by perception alone. Her new work, which will be debuted at SPECTRUM Miami, is a concise collection of sculptural embroidery with a definite contemporary edge. With Sphere 30, Cahill employs embroidery with vivid sculptural effects — rich blue, greens and silvers permeate delicate silk suspended within a dissected sphere of stainless steel. Suspended over a highly polished base of metal, the sphere appears to glow from within. The center rings of Sphere 30 (48″ W X 80″ L X 45″ H) are some of the largest embroidered areas to ever have been produced. Being shown for the first time, See no Evil, highlights three Japanese ladies embroidered on almost translucent silk in a folding screen of maple and brushed aluminum. The ladies gaze from the screen intently, watching but not passing judgment as they speak, see and hear no evil. Cahill has exhibited extensively this year in the United States and abroad including Apricot Gallery London, UK; Amsterdam International Art Fair; and Governor’s Island Art Fair, New York City; Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, Los Angeles California; Art San Diego, San Diego California.

The Williams McCall Gallery, the only fine arts gallery South of Fifth on Miami Beach, has the great pleasure of exclusively presenting “Between Worlds,” a collection of Zen-like, high contrast black-and-white images by award-winning artist/explorer Henthorne during Art Basel. The collection, which traveled from the Leica Gallery in Los Angeles, represents a four-month long project on the wild cliffs of northern California that captures the collaboration of Henthorne’s epic exposure Waterscapes combined with the Earthscapes of artist Andres Amador. As gallerists, artists, curators and collectors descend on Miami Art Week to experience the latest in the world of art and luxury, Bon Appétit Magazine, in conjunction with Volvo, bring Miami the first-ever “Taste What’s Next.”

Michelin-starred Chef Fredrik Berselius and multimedia artist Chris Doyle will come together, at the center of where art, food and technology blend, to celebrate Volvo’s Scandinavian luxury, functionality and design, while showcasing their own never-before-experienced work.

A fun late afternoon will transition into a high-energy night as hundreds of Miami’s art lovers and socialites enjoy cocktails, and bites prepared by Chef Fredrik, in his first-ever Miami Art Week appearance, and become some of the first to experience a preview of the Scandinavian-inspired menu for his much-anticipated new restaurant, set to open in Brooklyn in the first half of next year.

Simultaneously, artist Chris Doyle will reveal a new projection-driven masterpiece rooted in connecting the natural world with the growing digital culture. The Business Improvement District of Coral Gables (BID) is ready for the holidays with its Winter Wonderland-themed Giralda Under the Stars presented by Zacapa Rum event on December 4, 2015. More than a dozen restaurants and bars on the renowned Restaurant Row on Giralda Avenue, located between Ponce de Leon Boulevard and Galiano Street, will bring culinary excellence and libations outdoors for diners to enjoy, literally, under the stars. Restaurant Row will be closed to vehicular traffic and participating restaurants will fill the street with tables and chairs, live music and entertainment from 7 p.m. to midnight every first Friday of the month through April 2016. For December’s event, expect all things winter, including carolers and snow. Giralda Under the Stars will have a “snow village” where diners will feel like they are on vacation out of Miami for the night with flurries falling from the sky and snow on the ground to make snowmen and snow angels.

Following the great success of its first historical dinner inspired by Catherine De Medici, Toscana Divino, the premiere modern Italian restaurant and wine bar located in the heart of Mary Brickell Village, is proud to announce the second in a series of unique wine dinners, this time honoring Leonardo Da Vinci, arguably the most important Tuscan in history.

Most will remember the most eclectic genius of all times as a painter, mathematician, engineer, inventor, sculptor, architect, geologist, cartographer, botanist, writer, among other talents. What you may not know is that Leonardo extensively opined on food, and created original recipes and tools used in modern cooking and dining today.

Travel back 500 years back with us and let Leonardo bring the dinner to life as he interacts with guests and tells his stories on what he was eating, what he thought we should eat, and how he combined food and art. Centuries later, what Jesus and the apostles dined on in Leonardo’s masterpiece, The Last Supper, is still a subject of debate. Leonardo’s favorite foods ranged from exotic foods to what are now staples of the Tuscan and Italian cuisine – and you will have the opportunity to taste them all.

In keeping with Leonardo’s environment and culture, each dish will be paired with Tuscan wine presented by the Frescobaldi Wineries. The history of the Frescobaldi family begins during the same period as the birth of the banking industry in Medieval Florence. The Frescobaldis quickly became the absolute protagonists of political and economic life, earning themselves the right to the title “treasurers to the English Crown”.

The Frescobaldi family started in wine production in Florence at the beginning of the 1300s and quickly garnered a reputation for the highest quality wine. By the 1500’s, the Frescobaldi wines were served at the tables of the Papal Court and the English Court of Henry the Eighth.

In conjunction with Art Basel, the night will feature a display of Alessandro Reggioli, a young and established Italian artist from Florence, whose work was inspired by Leonardo’s lifelong study of the flight and the human heart.

This year’s Art Basel, Dec. 3 – 6, in Miami, FL, will mark the 14th annual, highly anticipated week of events featuring various art exhibitions, galleries and festivities in the international-scale cultural event.

Massive Urban Art Block Party To Debut In Wynwood. Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood has become synonymous with graffiti, urban art, murals and street art, and it offers a unique way for the public to experience this art form. This year, Mana Wynwood, Mana Contemporary and the Bushwick Collective have teamed up to launch the Mana Urban Arts Project at the iconic RC Cola Plant in Miami. To celebrate this historic occasion, they joined forces with Basel House to host a free, four-day block party during Art Basel Week. It wouldn’t be Wynwood without the Food Trucks, so Basel House has secured a swarm of South Florida favorites; from lobster to hot dogs, you name it, they’ll be serving it up!

Curating the collaboration is Joe Ficalora of the Bushwick Collective from Brooklyn. The Bushwick Collective was born on the streets of Brooklyn as a way for Joe to cope with personal tragedy. The Collective transformed a large section of the Bushwick neighborhood into a colorful and vibrant work of urban art. Many of those artists will be making the trip to Miami to help launch the Wynwood location of the Mana Urban Arts Project. “We are proud to showcase some of the best artists from around the world, and we hope to inspire the masses,” explains Joe.

Miami’s Moksha Family Arts Collective, produced by visionary and arts patron Ray Orraca, has for more than a decade fostered cultural and artistic expression from their long-standing home base in Little Haiti (the previous location of 7th Circuit Studio). This year, the organization’s annual Moksha Art Fair will largely be held at Delinquent Designs Gallery (122 NW 25th Street, Miami, FL 33127), in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District December 2-6, 2015.

The gallery will feature original works from a bevy of artists, two high-profile lectures by Alex Grey (artist, author, teacher) and Bruce Pavitt (Sub Pop Records), a panel discussion, several showcases and the Main Event Celebration on Saturday, December 5.

Bring your dancing shoes, lawn chairs and blankets to the Weston Regional Park (20200 Saddle Club Road, Weston, FL 33327) on Saturday, November 21, 2015 as the Miami group Playlist will be performing two sets of disco classics beginning at 7 p.m. The show is free and open to the public and will feature full-band renditions of well-known songs by Donna Summer, KC & the Sunshine Band, Kool & the Gang, the Bee Gees, Earth, Wind & Fire and many others.

Playlist is a group of professional musicians who perform frequently at private parties, special events, corporate functions and more. Founded by the husband and wife singer / songwriter team of Mireya (vocals / percussion) and Tony Medina (guitar / vocals), the band also features Michael Mut (Electric Piquete) on bass, Ramon “Monchy” Corruguedo (Birdman’s Clambake) on drums and several more prominent session players. Miami International Auto Show is back for its 45th edition with more surprises than ever. Vitamin C Communications and one of the highest luxury brand cars is inviting you to come view live performances by the newest up-and-coming Latin Music artists on Friday, November 13, Saturday, November 14, and Sunday, November 15. The guests will enjoy the shows while exploring what the new car models have to offer. A meet and greet with the artists will also occur after each performance.

The Miami International Auto Show is considered among America’s top five auto shows. This year Vitamin C and their partners introduce four of the hottest emerging Latin Music artists in the industry. The first performance by Javier Garcia on Friday, November 13 at 7 PM kicks off the event. Garcia utilizes his talents as a composer, arranger, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer, to bring together various genres and craft them into his own unique sound.

Saturday, November 14, brings two exciting performances. Tomás Diaz, at 2 PM, a musician from Cuba, starts off the evening. A member of The Spam Allstars, Diaz’s influence by greats such as Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Marley, and Celia Cruz, as well as his experience collaborating with world-class musicians and his undeniable love for music, led him to his successful musical career. The second performance commences at 7 PM by Viva Más, a musical group from the Latin streets of Philadelphia. The group, consisting of five guys, stands out due to their rich harmonies and Latin rhythms, as well as their passion for music and unconditional need to share it with the world.

Last, but definitely not least, Sonlokos closes this year’s Miami International Auto Show at 5 PM on Sunday, November 15. The emerging Latin group formed in 2012 and already received a Latin Grammy Award nomination for Best Traditional Tropical Album this year for “Locos por el Son.” Guests who stick around till the end will have the opportunity to meet & greet each artist.

Miami International Auto Show is back for its 45th edition with more surprises than ever. Vitamin C Communications and one of the highest luxury brand cars is inviting you to come view live performances by the newest up-and-coming Latin Music artists on Saturday November 7 and Sunday, November 8. The guests will enjoy the shows while exploring what the new car models have to offer. A meet and greet with the artists will also occur after each performance.

The Miami International Auto Show is considered among America’s top five auto shows. This year Vitamin C and their partners introduce four of the hottest emerging Latin Music artists in the industry. The first performance by Leslie Cartaya on Saturday, Novemebr 7 at 2PM kicks off the event. Cartaya is a singer-songwriter from Cuba who has released five albums since 2008, and received a Latin Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist. Sunday, November 8, brings two exciting performances. Pedro Capó, at 2PM, a musician from Puerto Rico, starts off the evening. Capó’s lyrics focus on his views about human reality, social issues, every-day experiences, women, and love. Last, but definitely not least, Pinto, at 7PM, a Puerto-Rican artist, composer, producer, and vocal coach at El Cartel Records that works hand-in-hand with infamous Latino artist Daddy Yankee, closes the night. The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO) will present the first solo exhibition in the United Stated of seminal Cuban artist Gustavo Pérez Monzón. In collaboration with the St. Bede Episcopal Chapel, FETA Foundation presents Andy Lee in a contemporary piano performance. The program opens with a piece by Greek-Canadian composer Constantine Caravassilis, Fantasia No. 5, Lumen de Lumine. Inspired by the church bells of Pythagorion, the music seems to emerge from the depths of the piano into lush chords and repeating figures. The second work, Scott Unrein’s “bird-drawn in the sky of light,” was premiered by R. Andrew Lee in 2013 during his UK tour. Written in discrete musical cells, the performer is afforded the freedom to choose what elements of each cell are played and for how long. The second half of the program will be Adrian Knight’s “Obsessions.” Commissioned by Lee, this work presents an extended exploration of stubborn habits, routines, and patterns layered over Knight’s beautiful, extended harmonic language. Do not miss an opportunity to interact with the composer himself, as he is flying in to attend the concert!

In collaboration with the Harold Golen Gallery, FETA Foundation presents Stephen Marotto in a program of music for solo cello and electronics, all of which explore the boundaries of the instrument in a unique way. “In ImagE, Roger Reynolds creates beautiful textures that juxtapose the natural harmonics and resonance of the instrument with virtuosic grace note flurries. Mark Andre knits a delicate sound world, most of which occupies the space on the threshold of silence in iv 2. The music utilizes physical gestures on the instrument that are precisely mapped out, mediating un-pitched materials to create tension. In contrast, Mourning Fog by Rand Steiger features beautiful melodic figures derived from distinct harmonic spectra. The cello is augmented by live electronics. The cello sounds are recorded, processed and then recombined. The final piece, Salvatore Sciarrino’s Ai Limiti Della Notte unleashes the tensions hidden in the residuals of the strings.”

This program represents guitar music by composers from various countries and continents. Featured European composers include Scelsi, Stanczyk, Zavala and Duran-Loriga. Music by Louis Aguirre (born in Cuba and residing in Denmark) is also included. The Canadian Evelin Ramon, Dorothy Hindman of the US and Armando Rodriguez Ruidiaz (US/Cuba) complete the program. Andersen will continue his journey to Cuba, presenting concerts in La Habana, Las Tunas, Guantanamo and Santiago de Cuba.
Guitarist Mikkel Andersen was born in Denmark in 1972. He travels around the world with his guitar presenting contemporary music for him by composers from Europe and the Americas. He released two albums, one in 2009 and the second in 2012 featuring standard guitar repertoire, which he has presented in Europe and South America. Apart from his soloist career, he also leads the Copenhagen Guitar School – Casa de la guitarra.

The Nation’s Top Athletes in Men’s & Women’s Bodybuilding, Men’s & Women’s Physique, Figure & Bikini Compete

MIAMI – The streets of Downtown Miami will be overrun with hot bodies come November 20th as THE highest ranked and most competitive event of the year held by the “National Physique Committee”(NPC) comes to the James L. Knight Center in Miami (400 SE 2nd Ave.)

National tittles and pro competitive status will be awarded to the winners allowing them to compete on the IFBB Pro Grand Prix Tour. The foremost athletes in each bodybuilding class, including figure, bikini, men’s & women’s physique will be judged on a variety of criteria.

The two top class winners in Men’s Bodybuilding and the 1st Place Class winners in Women’s Bodybuilding will be eligible for International Federation of Body Building (IFBB) Pro status. The top two winners in each of the six height classes in the Women’s Figure and Bikini divisions as well as the first two in each height class in both Men’s and Women’s Physique divisions attain IFBB status.

This yearly event, produced by New York’s Stonecutter Event Promotions, Inc, attracts approximately 1,000 competitors from around the 50 states and is sponsored by the leading brands in physical fitness, including: GNC, ABB Performance, Optimum Nutrition, MET-RX, Body Fortress, Infinite Labs, OhYeah!, BSN, Bodybuilding.com and NPC News.

This yearly event attracts TV and feature film stars, sports celebs from the likes of the UFC, NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB and more.

Rizal Bragagnini has over 25 years of professional experience leading a wide range of businesses in different sectors and countries. He worked 14 years for Procter & Gamble Latin America in areas like: Finance, Marketing, Innovation and General Management. He then served as General Manager for Cadbury Adams Peru & Bolivia, until it was acquired by Kraft; when he took the challenge to lead San Fernando, a family-owned poultry company in Peru, as its first independent CEO, doubling the business in 5 years and winning 5 Effie Awards in 3 years. His latest position was CEO of a leading Peruvian healthcare corporation, Quicorp – Quimica Suiza Group, which has annual revenues in excess of $1.4 billion US.

Mr. Bragagnini is founder and CEO of his own firm (RBO Consulting) and has participated in various Boards of Directors; e.g. Peru 2021, Quicorp, San Fernando, APECOM, among others. He is a graduate of the Kellogg School of Management’s CEO Program and P&G University’s in-house MBA program. He holds a degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru in Industrial Engineering and has taught at several institutions, including Universidad del Pacífico, Procter & Gamble, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru and IESA Venezuela. He has also coached and developed top talent who have attained leading roles in world class companies.

Zoo Miami again will host a 5K race it can call its own! Zoo Miami Foundation (formerly Zoological Society of Florida) and West Kendall Baptist Hospital have partnered to offer two fun, wild events on November 14, 2015. Unlike other 5Ks and walks held at the zoo, this event will offer benefits that only the team at the zoo can offer, running through the Zoo Miami exhibit path.

The ZooRun5K presented by Gilly Vending, which sold out the last two years, is for folks of every speed – from cheetah to tortoise – so no matter your pace, come out for fun and exercise. This 3.1 mile timed race is walker-friendly and will take place around the entire zoo. The ZooKidsDash presented by Kidz Medical Services is a race for kids ages 2 – 9. This race will include a range of distances from 100 to 525 meters and opportunities to interact with Gigi, Kaz and Pio – the popular Zoo Squad mascots. Participants are also being asked to dress or accessorize like their favorite animal to win prizes at the costume contest.

Celebrate the joy and magic of the holiday season at The Falls! On Saturday, November 21, The Falls Shopping Center will ring in the season with the 19th Annual “Miracle on 136th Street” Holiday Parade. This year, the free event will be led by celebrity Grand Marshal, Raini Rodriguez, of The Disney Channel’s ‘Austin & Ally’ series.

Each year, the annual event is attended by more than 20,000 Miami residents and visitors. Miami-Dade dignitaries and celebrities alike will ride through the parade in vintage and convertible cars. In addition to local dignitaries and Raini Rodriguez, the parade features local marching bands, holiday-themed floats, bag pipers, stilt walkers, junkanoos, giant puppets, holiday character favorites, community groups and internationally recognized costumed characters.

Listen for jingling sleigh bells and a jolly, magical laugh because after the parade, Santa Claus will set up in Center Court to share the spirit of the holiday season! The spirit of the holidays will extend beyond the North Pole. Following the parade, visitors will be enchanted by the thousands of lights, giant animal topiaries, elaborate water elements and more in the shopping center’s gardens and waterfalls.

Following the holiday parade, Raini Rodriguez will perform on the Center Court stage at 6:30 PM, singing joyous holiday music. Guests will also enjoy entertainment including a magical snow globe performance, belly dancing and more, near Macy’s & Bloomingdale’s.

The iconic Peanuts characters will take centerstage at Dolphin Mall this holiday season! The Peanuts Ice Palace will feature a 30-foot dome complete with falling snow, a light show and other activities for the entire family. The ‘Spooking Savings’ promotion includes two Youth Fair General Admission Tickets, valid for admission any day of the 2016 Youth Fair for ages six through 64.
