During the past 5 years, we’ve encouraged our attendees to ignite the fire within, to approach things differently, and together we have created unique experiences that have resonated in our community. For our 5-year anniversary, we dug deeper to find an inspiration to push things further than ever before. We’ve come together to create something entirely new, an immersive lighting experience we’ve called REFRACT. All matter is made of light and every one of us has a light inside that wants to shine through. With that in mind we are putting together a state of the art lighting installation designed for thematic moments of crowd interaction, where you are encouraged to manipulate light in your own creative ways. But, we didn’t stop there… we are ensuring a night of musical bliss with a very special lineup will have you moving to an amazing soundtrack while for effecting the light together. Let’s celebrate the past 5 years with a taste of what is yet to come in the future.

In his Epoch exhibit, nationally-acclaimed environmental artist and Pinecrest Gardens’ first artist-in-residence, Xavier Cortada portrays life that has existed on our planet over the past 500 million years and invites the audience to ponder what life forms will inhabit the earth in the future. Conversations and thoughts on time, growth, and extinction will be brought to light as a result of Cortada’s unique interpretation of the individual’s adaptations or lack-thereof. As we move through the current epoch, the Anthropocene, humans themselves are changing the global climate and Earth’s ecosystems. Our reckless emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, along with our extensive use of pesticides, our endless yearning for fertile land, and our unyielding population growth are greatly accelerating the rate of extinction of our fellow species. This exhibit is free and open to the public. Exhibit runs November 30, 2017 through January 14, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday in the historic Hibiscus Gallery at Pinecrest Gardens, 11000 SW Red Road, Pinecrest, FL 33156. Your tea dance just got artsier.
Miami’s favorite LGBT arty party returns to the back garden at Superfine! for the second year in a row, playing host to an evening of cocktails, art, and fun networking among South Florida’s LGBT movers and shakers.
Join us for a Saturday evening tea party and cocktail hour welcoming all of our LGBTQ friends and their allies in the back garden of Superfine! Miami. Queer art films @ Miami’s favorite art fair
LGBT art and film meet in the back garden of Superfine! The Fair at the heart of Midtown Miami this December.
Join 250+ art-lovers and cinephiles in the back garden of Superfine! The Fair for a 90 minute series of short films poised directly at the intersection of LGBT themes and the contemporary art world. Curated and presented by South Florida’s own OUTshine Film Festival (formerly MiFo), you’ll enjoy a welcome addition to Miami Art Week’s generally LGBT-lacking schedule. With a constant commitment to spotlighting LGBT artists, Superfine! brings a new dimension to our Miami fair through this partnership.
Filmgoers will delight in gourmet popcorn and a complimentary craft cocktail from The Pool Bar at The Vagabond’s pop-up bar, as well as complimentary admission to our arTEA LGBT Soirée immediately following.

Superfine! Miami
Get an (almost) first look at the more than 800 works by 150+ local and global artists at Superfine! 2017 as we celebrate our adopted home in our third annual Miami Love opening reception.
Miami’s finest will mix and mingle to the sounds of hometown heroes Afrobeta in our backyard garden as local mainstays Naomi’s Garden and The Pool Bar at The Vagabond sling updated Kreyol fare and craft cocktails. Local favorite KRELwear by Karelle Levy will host a backyard pop-up souk with ready-to-wear tropical knit fashions as well as a see-it-to-believe-it performance art piece of KRELwear-clad models interacting with attendees in the garden.
As you enjoy the art, fashion, and creativity Miami is famous for, you can feel good about yourself because a portion of sales from Miami Love tickets go directly to the Dolphins Plus Marine Mammal Rescue Fund, a Florida Keys-based organization that helps save stranded dolphins and whales. Don’t forget to check out the paintings inside the fair created by the center’s charismatic dolphins!

vernissage /vns/
French, literally ‘varnishing’, originally referring to the day prior to an exhibition when artists were allowed to retouch and varnish hung work.

Don’t worry, the paintings will be dry: we’re giving dedicated art-lovers and our committed year-round Collectors’ Society members an exciting witching hour sneak peek at Superfine! this December in midtown Miami.
You’ll thrill to whimsical sparkling cocktails, performance art, and an overreaching air of surprise as you peruse works by over 150 hand-curated independent and gallery-presented artists. An ethereal backdrop of harp chords float through the air, providing the soundtrack to an evening that’s set to be a Miami Art Week tradition for many years to come. What’s Your Elephant Art Exhibit 7/15/17

What’s Your Elephant Art Exhibit
Saturday, 07/15/2017 – 08/12/2017 07:00 pm – 11:00 pm
1310 Gallery, Sailboat Bend Artists Loft
1310 SW 2nd Court, 110,
Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312
Eventbrite
Cost: FREE

The Elephant in the Room is an idiom for an obvious truth that is either being ignored, or otherwise unaddressed. The purpose of this exhibit is to provide a safe place for issues and topics that are normally hidden from public view. Through visual and performance art, the artists participating in this event will share secrets and taboos, discussing openly to find solutions for individual and collective emancipation. Attendees are invited to enter the ‘Confessional’, an interactive safe space installation to share their ‘elephant’.

What’s Your Elephant will be hosted by 1310 Gallery residents Niki Lopez, visual artist, & designer, and Alana DaCosta, multidisciplinary artist.

Featured artists include: Niki Lopez, Alana DaCosta, AJ Grossman, Ana Rossi, Cheryl Brown, Macarena Zilveti, Mila Hajjar, Cesca Veo, Alex Tuzinsky, Chire Regans, Tabatha Mudra, Jose Silva, Yudelka Tavera, Zeal Harris, Artists for Black Lives Matter collective and SunServe Youth

Opening night performance featuring: Alana DaCosta, Profound Breath, We’re Weird, and Nephii Love, Bishop and Venus Rising Drum and Dance Troupe

Lopez and DaCosta will also host an interactive workshop called “What’s Your Elephant”, where participants can use creative arts in a safe space to reveal individual or societal “elephants”. “The obvious is oftentimes ignored and swept under the rug. Some people may chose to never face it,” says DaCosta, who also has a MS in Mental Health Counseling. “Yet, we all have creative energy and have the power of choice to free ourselves of whatever makes us uncomfortable. Through creative expression, many can learn to address the issue and share with others who most likely have their own elephant”.
“It’s about acknowledging it (the elephant), owning it, so that it doesn’t define you.” Says Lopez, an artist and activist with her own elephant that will be revealed at the exhibit.

As a part of this movement, Lopez & DaCosta ask that the public participate by submitting their unspoken truth AND use the hashtag #whatsyourelephant on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Instagram.
