Presented by Faena Art, Phillip K. Smith III’s piece defines a reflective space within the beach environment, composed entirely of two most prominent elements: water and sky. Formed by 300 geometric reflectors angled at 110 degrees, the artwork directly engages with the ocean surrounding and the endless heavens. As the light shifts and the viewer moves through the installation, land, water and sky are separated, merged, and displaced, subverting one’s assumed relationship with the horizon. It is a constantly changing installation that can never be seen the same way twice.
Born in Los Angeles in 1972, Phillip K. Smith III received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design before returning to the Southern California desert where he was raised. Building upon explorations in the perception of light, color and space, he creates intensely physical and seemingly ephemeral sculptures.

An autonomous flying swarm of 300 drones, Franchise Freedom, supported by Faena Art, exposes the tension between individual freedom and safety by numbers. The sacrifice made by the individual subjecting to the group gives off the illusion of freedom, creating a never ending cycle. It is the first time that a natural phenomenon will be imitated by machines working with decentralised algorithms at this scale.

Miami Beach’s own Jacober Creative, an award-winning design and marketing studio, invites the public to a FREE opening night reception and art exhibition, IRL (In Reel Life): From Celluloid to Cellular, Recasting the Classics Through Graphic Design, at the Miami Beach Cinematheque. With favorite films from the 1940s through the 1990s to serve as the agency’s inspiration, Jacober Creative placed their graphic design spin on American film culture, as filtered through the lens of the usually disposable medium of Instagram, recast onto everyday “objects of desire.” On display at the Cinematheque will be a unique range of 3-D showcases for the graphic designs, such as Bkr water bottles with Carrie inspired graphics, Vans sneakers with a design that is a tribute to The Birds, and a lunch box with a Breakfast at Tiffany’s-style graphic.
IRL (In Reel Life) will open with a reception from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5. The exhibit will run through December 31, and is free and open to the public. On October 21st the New World Symphony will present Project 305, a WALLCAST concert unveiling the crowd-sourced symphony of Miami’s unique sights and sounds. The project was launched back in January in partnership with MIT Media Lab and The Knight Foundation.
Over 1,000 submissions from Miami locals were blended together to create the final work by Ted Hearne, Jonathan David Kane and Michael Tilson Thomas titled Miami in Movements representing our city’s astounding range of cultural influences. Before the concert, guests will have the opportunity to engage in activities including backstage tours of the world-renowned Frank Gehry-designed New World Center, a 360-degree virtual reality experience of Miami’s most beloved neighborhoods and numerous pre-performance concerts. All proceeds will go towards hurricane relief efforts led by Feeding South Florida. Starting October 14, Faena Miami Beach will donate $5 from every ticket sale of Sensatia to Feeding South Florida in the name of hurricane relief.

AQUA Art Miami, a sister fair of Art Miami, will celebrate its 13th edition this year at the AQUA Hotel in Miami Beach. A VIP Preview will be held on Wednesday, December 6 before the fair opens its doors to the public December 7-10.

Kimpton, Burning Man breakout star, has created a 16-foot tall sculpture that embraces the centuries-old practice of art honoring intellectuals, artists and men of power by mimicking a traditional Roman marble bust. Her gold bust of a female monkey wearing a gold-plated necklace that proudly exclaims BE ART will welcome guests.
Live Tattoo Art by Thea Duskin presented by Ghostprint Gallery (Richmond)
Duskin is renowned for her exquisite watercolor tattoos and will provide live performances at select times throughout the fair, where in addition to working on large, pre-scheduled pieces, Duskin will offer fairgoers the opportunity to acquire an original one-off, single-session tattoo that can be completed in a short amount of time. Priced at $500, they will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Art from Canada presented by the Consulate General of Canada (Miami)
2017 marks Canada’s 150th anniversary since Confederation, and to celebrate, the Consulate General of Canada has spearheaded a curated project by Tranter-Sinni Gallery to highlight works from emerging and established Canadian artists from diverse backgrounds to reflect the rich regional range of Canada’s multiculturalism. Participating artists include Barbara Steinman, John Brown, Paterson Ewen, Wolfgang Kals, Jay Bell Red Bird, Russell Leng, Halina Stopyra, Andrew Maize and Christopher Gorey.
Talk with Art from Canada Artists – Saturday, December 9th at 2pm
On Saturday, December 9th at 2pm, the Consulate General of Canada in Miami and Tranter-Sinni Gallery will host an up-close and personal talk with two artists showing work at AQUA. Jay Bell Red Bird will speak about Canada’s aboriginal people – how they once lived, and continue to live, as loving, caring and peaceful people. He will talk about his time spent with Canadian artist Norval Morrisseau, and how great Canadian artists, including his father, Duke Redbird, have influenced his style and technique. Halina Stopyra will then discuss her work from a healing arts perspective, as well as her technique and intrinsic ability to heal through nature, each other and the universe.
AQUA Moments presented by Black Ship (Miami)
AQUA Moments will re-imagine space through sound, architecture, scent and the visual arts to create new environments that engage audiences to identify with all aspects of their surroundings by curation that stimulates and provokes multisensory satisfaction. As part of this program, multimedia performance artist Bea Pernia will provide the musical atmosphere for the VIP Preview.

Artist and fashion designer Bas Kosters believes that fashion transforms, and as you wear a garment you become part of the art. His illustrations, drawings, paintings and graphic designs all work their way into his fashion creations. His work is a warning about alarming social issues by means of dark humor, while endeavoring to create enthusiasm and happiness on the other hand.
“Which Comes First, the Art or the Fashion?” presented by Morphew (New York)
Fashion and art always have been collaborators, and to this end, Morphew presents an art gallery and shop to showcase the ways in which these two worlds coexist through offering the most avant-garde 20th century designers and artists of luxury vintage fashion. The space will feature an installation dedicated to Keith Haring and his Pop Shop, as well as a collaboration with Kara Ross and Unleashed, where three original Bindi works utilizing vintage textiles will celebrate a collective of artisan women from Bareilly, India who are experts in the art of hand beading. These pieces were created through Unleashed’s work as a global social impact brand that provides women the opportunity to break the poverty cycle through education and job creation.

Saturday, October 21 will host the 5th Annual South Beach Seafood Festival featuring pop up café’s from the likes of Joe’s Stone Crab, Naked Taco, Cibo, Red, the Steakhouse, Dragonfly, CJ’s Crab Shack, Lobster Bar Sea Grille, A Fish Called Avalon, La Moderna, Poseidon, Nikki Beach, Toro Toro, Truluck’s, Rusty Pelican, Papa’s Raw Bar, Naked Crab, Whole Foods and Meat Market featuring Miami Smokers. Together, 18 restaurants will be serving you right on the sand – it’s four blocks of fun to be exact! There are two types of Festival Tickets and both General Admission and VIP include an all-day open bar available at any of the 30+ added bar locations. General admission starts at only $45; this low price gives guests the opportunity to pick and choose which delicious restaurants to try – all of which are bringing their premium menu items at affordable prices between $5 – $10. This is not a tasting festival; this is an eating festival. Florida Foster Care Review’s 12th Annual Claws For Kids Luncheon at Joe’s Stone Crab Restaurant is set for Monday, November 6, 2017, 11:30am- 2pm.
Florida Foster Care Review promotes the safety, well-being and long-term success of abused and neglected children through volunteer-driven case reviews and system level advocacy. They contribute to developing a child welfare system that protects, heals, and supports success for the children and families subject to it.
FFCR holds an annual luncheon where Miami’s top community leaders gather at Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami Beach to support children and youth in foster care. To ensure safety and stability of these kids, proceeds from the event will help make sure these abused and neglected children continue to progress. (Miami – August 1, 2017) – Fridge Art Fair has just announced that this year’s Miami fair entitled “Fridge Art Fair Miami: The Art Bagel Edition ” will be held from December 4-10 at the modern and historic Blue Moon Hotel in the heart of South Beach during Art Basel.
The esteemed Fontsquared has been appointed the curators of the fair. The husband and wife artist team, Ignacio and Jean Font ( https://fontsquared.org ), aim to create a uniform work of art by considering shape, form and color in their careful selection of works.
“We are honored to partner with such a gem of a hotel and to have such a talented curatorial team behind the scenes,” said Eric Ginsburg (http://www.worldoferic.com) Founder and Director of the fair. “Blue Moon’s spectacular art deco design will be a great backdrop to the amazing and diverse artwork featured at Fridge. A highlight of “Fridge Art Fair Miami: The Art Bagel Edition” is the “Fridge Magnet Project.” This project, open to all artists and art lovers, invites participants to create a magnet to be displayed during the fair. Fridge Art Fair is also partnering with the Dog Wall of Fame Foundation, a branch of Fridge Art Fair, to present the “Fridge Dog All Star Wall of Fame.” Showcasing some of the world’s most renowned four-legged friends, inductees will be announced during the VIP/Press Bagel and Lox preview on Sunday December 3r d from 1-8pm. The nominees include fan favorites such as Toto, Spud McKenzie, and Lassie.
The video lounge, which will take place in Blue Moon’s scenic courtyard, will display “Fridge-a-delightful” videos that are thought provoking, fun and moving, and, like all Fridge’s activities, a reflection of the world at large. The world’s first Fridge bazaar —The Mini Bagel Bazaar Marketplace — will also take place during the fair in the courtyard. More details will follow.

On Sunday, September 24, the Global Arts Project and the Collins Park Neighborhood Association will present their last FREE ArtScape concert of the season from 4-7 PM, in Collins Park, 2100 Collins Ave, starring singer Lisett Morales, “La Mulata del Sabor,” celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. The program will open with a set by students of Gremmy-winning musician and educator Dr Ed Calle, as part of Global Arts Project’s Educational Outreach Program.
Lisett Morales arrived in Miami from her native Cuba and quickly rose to stardom singing for president George W. Bush at The Miami Arena. Lisett made her Off-Broadway debut as an Actress with “Celia (The Life and Music of Celia Cruz).” This role landed her as the lead singer of the “Celia Cruz All Stars”.
She has shared the stage with famous artists such as Jose Alberto “el Canario,” Oscar de Leon, La India, Albita, Tito Puente Jr., Isaac Delgado, Marlow Rosado, Willy Chirino, Domingo Quiñones and many more.

Timmy Regisford is simply put, one of the great legends of dance music. The inception of his internationally acclaimed Club Shelter parties in NYC since 1991 helped pioneer the soulful house music sound that has shaped the face of house music today.
Trinidad-born, Regisford is known for his brand of soulful dance music. He started in 1985 at WBLS radio station in New York City, where he worked as Assistant Music Director, later being promoted to head Music Director of the station. In 1988, he became A&R Director of Atlantic Records, signing such acts as Miki Howard and Levert. His next career step embarked on working for MCA Records as their A&R Director, where he developed artists Loose Ends and Colonel Abrams. He would soon go on to sign acts Guy and Eric B & Rakim. Regisford later became Vice President of A&R at Motown Records, signing acts Milira, Blaze, Basic Black, Today, and Johnny Gill. Along with his A&R work for these labels he is credited in many remix projects with Patti LaBelle, Steel Pulse, New Edition, Bobby Womack, Gladys Knight & the Pips, The Boys, Diana Ross, Gerald Alston and Stevie Wonder. In 1996, Regisford became Vice President of A&R at Dreamworks Records. Timmy Regisford was also one of the founding people behind the Shelter parties in New York City, as well as the resident DJ.
