The Confidante Miami Beach, alongside Bird & Bone’s Chef Richard Hales and Tequila Revolución’s National Sales Director, Adrian Sosa, invite guests to a special tequila pairing dinner on Friday, October 26. The inaugural evening kicks off The Confidante’s new monthly dinner series aptly named The Confidante Dinner Club, which will feature a specially curated collaboration with a new spirit brand each month. Embracing the warm, welcoming and vibrant glamour of The Confidante, the evening will take place in The 1930s House, a private, outdoor Spanish-style bungalow originally built as a one-bedroom family home. Once located across the street from the Collins Avenue hotel, the structure was picked up by crane and relocated to The Backyard at The Confidante, where it currently resides. The evening features passed hors d’oeuvres and retro-themed welcome cocktails created in partnership with The Confidante’s food and beverage team and Tequila Revolución’s master mixologists. Renowned local chef Richard Hales, Chef/Partner of American-inspired on-site eatery Bird & Bone, will showcase a specially curated three-course menu expertly paired with three different expressions of Tequila Revolución.

Chef Hales and Sosa will be present to guide guests through the culinary journey, explaining how the flavors of each dish pair with the tequila. As a 15+ year veteran in the wine and spirits industry, Sosa has represented various prestigious tequila brands such as Patron, Sauza, Cazadores and Partida. After the food and spirits journey, guests will end the evening with a social hour complete with a cigar rolling station and open bar.

This Halloween, The National Hotel is transforming the Aqua Club and Lounge into “King’s Landing” inspired by the popular HBO series, “Game of Thrones.” Everyone gets to be king or queen of the Seven Kingdoms for the night and party hard like “winter is coming” while sipping on themed drinks and dancing to groovy sounds from a live DJ. The Biltmore Hotel’s most anticipated night of the year is finally here as it announces its famed annual Halloween Party with a twist, where guests will be at the mercy of celebrity panel judges as they select this year’s fortunate winners in this year’s costume categories: funniest, most creative (must be handmade), best group (max 6 people), and scariest. The event will entail a delightful buffet dinner accompanied by a premium open bar.

What: Being located in the most artistic, culturally dynamic neighborhood, rácket holds high devotion to the art community. The eclectic venue is pleased to welcome Cuban artist El Sexto, also known as Danilo Maldonado Machado, to rácket’s weekly Homecookin’ party as a pre-Independence Day celebration.

The event will revolve around El Sexto’s live painting performance, which will transcend the radical Cuban politics with infectious energy, humor and freedom. His art breaks down barriers with its humane expressiveness and universal appeal, but goes far beyond the dichotomy of political systems. With the state of our country’s human rights cloudiness, El Sexto represents freedom of expression through his art, a nonviolent form of activism. Art is a universal language that unites humans from all different backgrounds with one common ground, creativity. Attendees will be able to meet the artist as he will be present throughout the night. El Sexto’s art on view will be for sale. In addition to his visual presentation, ladies drink free from 11:00 pm to 1:00 am, and snacks will be served throughout the night by Homecookin’ host since 1995, Shelley Novak.

About the Artist: El Sexto, also known as Danilo Maldonado Machado, is considered Cuba’s number one dissident artist. His dramatic exhibition was featured on every major outlet including The New York Times. Since 2008, he has not only brought his unique form of graffiti across the streets, alleys and decaying buildings of Havana, but has managed to produce an amazing body of paintings under increasingly intolerable conditions. Painter, graffiti artist, performance artist, master draftsman, dissident, pacifist, Havel Prize laureate, political philosopher and social media phenomenon: El Sexto is also a hero. He reconciles his life and his art, both showman and shaman. Above all, El Sexto’s essential medium is freedom and the world is his studio – even prison. His very name, El Sexto (“The Sixth” in Spanish) is a direct reference to the Cuban Five who were elevated to national heroes by Castro’s propaganda machine in 2014, after being released from a US prison on charges of spying. Now free and working in Miami, El Sexto is highly recognized and admired for his work, and prompts the public to share his stellar journey.

MegaRumba to Support Those in Need of Food and Medicine in Venezuela

SWARM and iHeart’s TU 94.9 have once again partnered to bring MegaRumba to Wynwood. This year, they will be raising funds in support of the Cuatro Por Venezuela Foundation, which has been fighting hunger, illness, and poverty in Venezuela since 2016. Taking place on the 20th of July, this festival of independence for all Hispanic cultures welcomes everyone to join in this single collective celebration, being a source of mutual pride and unity, and allowing everyone to enjoy a variety of Latin music, flavors, dancing, arts and crafts.

For the first time ever in the U.S., Danny Ocean will perform “Me Rehuso” at MegaRumba. Also performing live is Sofia Reyes, winner of an MTV Millennial, Latin Grammy and iHeart Media Award, as well as Grammy and Latin Grammy nominated bilingual Latin band, Locos Por Juana. Venezuelan singer/actor Victor Drijo and Nicole Favre will also join iHeart radio’s ever-popular DJ’s on center stage. In addition, there will be food trucks, arts & craft vendors, and several fully stocked bars, offering everything from the best of Bud Light and mixed drinks to specialty flavored mojitos by Cruzan.

The festival will run from 7PM to 3AM and it will continue to be FREE to enjoy. With the purchase of a $10 donation ticket, people can help Venezuela, but also enjoy a free Bud Light and shot from the giant Aguardiente Ice Luge ($19 value). Cuatro Por Venezuela Foundation will receive 100% of that ticket, so they may continue to provide educational, medical, and nutritional aid to Venezuelans in need. “Venezuela is under a profound humanitarian crisis, and we want to do something about it. One of the great things about Miami is our ethnic unity and getting to witness the neighborly love as the melting pot of Latin cultures come together in times of need. We are eager to help in this time of desperation in Venezuela and are excited to contribute towards uniting others in helping as well,” says Tony Albelo, SWARM CEO. The Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) is celebrating Caribbean Heritage Month with a unique performance by Julio Montalvo as part of its monthly “Jazz at MOCA” series. Montalvo is a leading trombonist from the island of Cuba. Inspired by his island roots, Montalvo blends Afro-Cuban rhythms with elements of modern jazz to create his original style – New Latin Jazz.

As a songwriter, producer, arranger, session musician, and a Grammy award winner, Montalvo is well-versed in the world of jazz. Montalvo has collaborated with the leading stars of pop and rock in Spain and has shared the stage with renown musicians from the international jazz circuit such as Mark Nightingale, Mike Mossman, and Gladstone Galliza. In 2008, Montalvo founded his own record label, Montalvo Records and since has produced more than 10 recordings.

The public is invited to enjoy the unique rhythms of Montalvo, rain or shine.

On June 30, Schnebly Redlands Winery will release the Lychee fruits of their labor in a most entertaining way during their Lychee Summer Celebration (LSC), partnering for the first time with the South Dade Chamber of Commerce and the American Cancer Society. A family Mud Run, an awards ceremony, and live music will round out the celebration only to culminate with a patriotic fireworks display.

“This year’s Lychee harvest is the largest crop we’ve seen in years, not only did the trees survive Hurricane Irma, but the crop was actually improved by the stress of Irma; it’s a testament to the strength of the South Florida community and its agricultural roots,” says Peter Schnebly, Founder of Schnebly Winery. During the Summer Celebration, the Winery will be offering three Lychee wines, and three limited special release Lychee beers from Miami Brewing Company. Several South Florida restaurants and food trucks will offer their culinary take on the Lychee fruit by way of creative recipes, such as Lychee Seafood Ceviche and Lychee Martini Ice Cream. The possibilities are endless, and Schnebly can’t wait to see their partners get creative with this year’s harvest at the Culinary Grand Tiki Lounge featuring StartUP FIU Food Mentors such as Half Moon Empanadas, Pro Kitchen Hub, My Ceviche, and Lulu’s Ice Cream, to name a few.

While guests enjoy the different variations of Lychee, they can also browse 200+ classic/modern Chevrolet Corvettes, custom cars, Jeeps, 4x4s and other classics throughout the day. The Lychee Summer Celebration Meet Up will be hosted by Corvettes & Coffee and Cecil’s Jeep Fam. Guests can also explore over 40+ artisan and craft vendors in the Artist Colony as they sculpt, sew and sand down hand-made goods. In addition, Live Painting Sessions will showcase some of the area’s best muralists using 40 ft. long shipping containers as their canvas.

At 5pm, the first Schnebly Family Mud Run will kick off, benefitting the American Cancer Society to fund cancer research. Participating runners will be given a glow necklace to display the Cancer they’ll be running for, while conquering an “all new” course compete with obstacles. While the five-kilometer course will honor the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners during an official ceremony before the fireworks, every runner will receive a medal to commemorate their run. All proceeds from the run will go to the American Cancer Society, and anyone who buys a ticket for the run will get free admission to the Lychee Summer Celebration; family members get special pricing on LSC tickets with Runner Registration.

DJs Nickymix and Richie D will create the audial atmosphere taking guests on a musical island journey while the incomparable Steve ‘Sir Rockwell’ Warner will emcee the event. A steel drum band and costumed carnival players will add to the exuberant island atmosphere.

Ultra-VIP treatment will include complimentary massages in the Goldson Spine massage studio, and complimentary refreshers in the Glam Studio with Makeup by Rory Lee and hair touch-ups by Miss Jessie’s. A 5-day, 4-night all-inclusive trip for two to Barbados (valued at $2,000 including hotel and air travel) will also be raffled-off with proceeds benefiting the Historical Society.

Deliver the Dream, a South Florida-based nonprofit organization that organizes retreats for families experiencing a serious illness or crisis, presents its 6th Annual Red Hot Party at Hunters. Generously amplified by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and hosted by Daisy Dead Petals & Electra, this year’s free anticipated event begins at 7 p.m. with a scorching charity date auction showcasing some of South Florida’s most eligible LGBTQ bachelors and bachelorettes of all ages.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Deliver the Dream’s first-ever LGBTQ Youth Retreat that will host as many 15 families (at no cost to the participants) to help them enhance coping skills, reduce stress and cultivate relationships with other families who have a child struggling with “coming out.” The retreat will also incorporate an HIV educational component and offer therapeutic discussions for both teens and parents. This retreat, along with nine other planned yearly retreats spanning various crises and medical conditions including autism, cancer, Down syndrome and epilepsy, combines traditional recreational activities with therapeutic activities, peer-to-peer discussion groups and expressive arts and music activities.

Guests will have the opportunity to mix and mingle with the select group of LGBTQ bachelors and bachelorettes who come with their own unique accompanying entertainment packages which may include concert tickets, outdoor adventures, performing arts shows, sporting event seats plus dinner and much more, plus bid on silent auction items, enjoy drink specials and have fun while benefiting a great cause.

The Side-by-Side Concert is an extraordinary opportunity for young instrumentalists (grades 7-12) to perform alongside the New World Symphony Fellows and New World Symphony’s Co-Founder and Artistic Director, Michael Tilson Thomas. The students share the New World Center’s stage and develop musical relationships with the Fellows as they rehearse and perform music of the highest caliber.

This performance will also be live-streamed and broadcasted as a WALLCAST® concert, where the symphony projects the interior performance onto the large, 7,000-square-foot exterior wall facing SoundScape Park. Each WALLCAST® concert is free to the public and does not require a ticket.

To close out the highlight anticipated week, celebrated DJ Stefan from DADA LIFE will be performing as MACHINE MADE for his first solo performance in Miami EVER alongside Baggi and Dean Mason, who will be spinning a unique set for Saturday’s celebratory finale presented by Denial Events. It’s going to be a grand Miami style soirée as Miami Music Week keeps the crowd dancing from sunrise to sunset to sunrise again.
