Calling all art and foodie enthusiasts! Naked Taco, located in the prime of South Beach, has teamed up with extremely talented artists and brilliant chefs to bring to life a Food Porn Art Exhibit. It took 3 award winning chefs teaming up with 3 phenomenal artists and 3 stunning influencers to create art pieces that showcase the sexual side of food. Food Porn Art Exhibit features @wallflowe12 Photography by Michael Leoncio, Jay “JBon” Bonadio JR @TheUnsigned, and Peterson Guerrier @Mr_Guerrier joined forces with award-winning Chefs Ralph Pagano, Brad Kilgore, and Max Santiago to create art pieces unlike any other.

Seen through the lens and photographed for the food-meets-art collaboration are influencers Bibiana Julian, TV personality, Astrid Bavaresco and one of Miami’s top females DJ’s, Michelle Pooch. Each photograph went through a process of artistic expressions created by Michael Leoncio @Wall- flowe12, Jay “JBon” Bonadio JR @TheUnsigned, and Peterson Guerrier. All three artists alongside the chefs brought a different and unique aspect to each art piece.

Michael Leoncio, known as @wallflowe12, is well known for tastefully depicting the nude human form with his images of masked nude models. Jbon, also known as “The Unsigned Artist”, has been shaking up the art scene for over a decade while keeping a low profile. Starting as a silk screen artist at the age of 15, he has evolved those skills into an original, luxurious “Neo- Mosaic” shattered glass concept of collections that he creates today. And last, but definitely not least Peterson Guerrier; known for creating artwork on canvases which are unique to properly showcase his style. Using a traditional fine art technique fused with an urban flare my work takes turns speaking jazz in a midnight setting, and bleeding emotions from an animalistic perspective.

Need an excuse to entertain the entire family on a Sunday? Head to Pinecrest Gardens’ award-winning Farmers Market to shop the season’s bounty, to explore the dynamic botanic gardens and to view the Antarctic Ice Paintings: Global Coastlines and Underwater HOA exhibit by prominent environmental artist, Xavier Cortada. While there, visitors can learn about how to become climate change problem-solvers in their community.

Be sure to pick-up an “Underwater HOA” marker artistically designed by Cortada, who has implemented a Miami-Dade County wide participatory art project to coincide with Art Basel. New to this edition of The Tasting Train is performances by Miami’s own Karla Croqueta, Charlie Chaplin, live contortionists and DJs all aboard the train. Embracing the warm, welcoming and vibrant glamour of The Confidante, the evening will take place in The 1930s House, a private, outdoor Spanish-style bungalow originally built as a one-bedroom family home. Once located across the street from the Collins Avenue hotel, the structure was picked up by crane and relocated to The Backyard at The Confidante, where it currently resides.

Key Rules of the Event:
In order to participate, guests must be a member or be sponsored by a member from the previous year, or they must sign up to official website’s waiting list.
Once confirmed, each guests’ participation in the event becomes mandatory, regardless of weather conditions, as Dîner en Blanc is a rain or shine event.
Participants arrive and then depart in unison by chartered bus or organized public transportation.
They take all of their belongings with them at the end of the night, including leftovers and trash, and they leave the site as clean as it was upon arrival.
Must-Bring Items:
Guests are asked to bring their own picnics meals, tables, chairs, fine china, silverware, and white tablecloth. There are no paper plates or plastic cutlery permitted.
Dress Code:
Participants must wear white (and white only) and are asked to dress elegantly.
Originality is always encouraged as long as it stays stylish and denotes taste.

WHERE: The location remains secret until minutes before the event is slated to start. Groups of several hundred people first gather at 5 rallying points across the city. Guided by local volunteers, these groups will then converge on one of the most beautiful outdoor settings in the city, either on foot or by other organized means of transportation.

The inaugural evening kicks off The Confidante’s new monthly dinner series aptly named The Confidante Dinner Club, which will feature a specially curated collaboration with a new spirit brand each month. Embracing the warm, welcoming and vibrant glamour of The Confidante, the evening will take place in The 1930s House, a private, outdoor Spanish-style bungalow originally built as a one-bedroom family home. Once located across the street from the Collins Avenue hotel, the structure was picked up by crane and relocated to The Backyard at The Confidante, where it currently resides. Renowned local chef Richard Hales, Chef/Partner of American-inspired on-site eatery Bird & Bone, will showcase a specially curated three-course menu expertly paired with three different expressions of Tequila Revolución.

Chef Hales and Sosa will be present to guide guests through the culinary journey, explaining how the flavors of each dish pair with the tequila. Macchialina, Miami Beach’s stellar Italian restaurant, will host an exclusive wine dinner with the acclaimed Italian winery Frattoria dei Barbi on Monday, October 8, 2019.

Beyond its food, artfully created and executed by chef/owner Michael Pirolo, Macchialina is known as a must-try destination for wine lovers; especially those seeking unique, obscure and amazing Italian wines.

Overseen by director of operations and co-owner Jacqueline Pirolo, Macchialina’s wine list is a treasure trove for oenphiles and those with a case of Italophilia. So it’s little surprise that Macchialina would host a dinner with this revered winery.

The evening will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. with a welcome pour and a chance to speak with special guest, the winery’s export manager Raphaella Guidi Ferderzoni.

The dinner will feature four courses from Chef Pirolo, each paired with a different wine. Reserve vintages of the winery’s celebrated brunellos will be poured and all of the wines from the dinner, some of which are on allocation, will be available to pre-order the night of the dinner. Seats for the dinner are $85 per person, all inclusive. Seats are limited and should be reserved in advance.

Stone Crab Season Kick-off Raises Funds for the Glam-A-THON™

Benefiting the Broward Health Foundation’s Lillian S. Wells Women’s Health Center

In support of the Glam-A-THON™ – a local nonprofit that assists underfunded women undergoing breast cancer treatment – famed Iron Chef and Food Network Chopped judge, Geoffrey Zakarian, invites guests to celebrate stone crab season with the second annual “Stone Crabs for a Cause” on October 19th at Point Royal.

Zakarian, whose culinary career spans more than 30 years as an acclaimed chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, and TV personality, will serve as host for the evening, curating a four-course dinner that highlights one of Florida’s most beloved seasonal seafoods – stone crabs. The menu will be paired with premium wines from Bodvár House of Rosé.

Open to the public for $155 per person, a portion of proceeds from the event will be donated to Glam-A-THON™, which has raised more than $500,000 over the past six years to help fund free mammograms, diagnostic testing and other needs associated with treatment though the Broward Health Foundation’s Lillian S. Wells Women’s Health Center.

Colada Cuban Coffee House and Eatery in Flagler Village is celebrating National Coffee Day by giving away a year of free coffee to one lucky coffee lover who can “guesstimate” how many coffee beans are in a glass jar at Colada. SPF’18 will take over FATVillage Saturday, November 10, 2018, for an epic, print-happy day of exhibitors, with a market of print, book and zine exhibitors from Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Boca Raton, Orlando, Gainesville and beyond, a giant steamroller pressing the largest prints of the fair, live demonstrations of print-making techniques, creation stations and art making activities, a stage of author and poets talks, a cabana with ice cold, locally crafted beer, food trucks and so much more!

SPF’18 will showcase a diverse range of local and regional artists, printers, publishers, authors, poets, bookmakers, designers, zinesters and cultural workers, sharing and exhibiting new work related to printmaking, book making and zine creation.

What is a zine? A zine (/ˈziːn/ ZEEN; short for magazine or fanzine) is most commonly a small-circulation, self-published work of original or appropriated texts and images, usually reproduced via photocopier or similarly inexpensive means. Zines are usually the product of a single person, or of a very small group. The primary intent is to advance the views of the creator rather than profit, since the time and materials necessary to create a zine are seldom matched by revenue from its sale. Zines tend to deal with subjects that are too controversial or niche for mainstream media.

SPF’18 exhibitors will take over The Projects in FATVillage, Fort Lauderdale, a 8,000+ sq ft warehouse space, celebrating the growing interest and support for independent and small press artists and publishers that have fueled the sub-culture in South Florida for years.

Funding for SPF’18 is provided in part by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Council as well as the following Funds from the Community Foundation of Broward: Fonda and H. Wayne Huizenga, Jr Family Trust Fund, Gary J. Scotto Fund and Mary and Alex Mackenzie Community Impact Fund. Additional funding is provided in part by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Council and Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Shore Club’s brand-new Mexican restaurant, Diez y Seis, has announced the launch of a brand new weekly concept with a pool-side Brunch unlike any other – Brunch a la Mexicana! The brunch will launch Sunday, September 16th (Mexican Independence Day) and will continue every Saturday afterwards! Guests are invited to join Diez y Seis as they prepare a full day of delicious food, table-side hand-crafted cocktails, live music and an exciting and high-spirited ambiance during their buffet-style brunch for $50++pp. You can even catch those much needed zzz’s and fill your bellies as this brunch starts at 11:30am and ends at 4pm, catering to those late sleepers.

What’s on the menu? Created by critically acclaimed Executive Chef Jose Icardi, there will be two stations – one hot and one cold. Remember when I mentioned this brunch will be unlike any other? ROLL on in Diez y Seis’ specialty table-side beverage cart fully stocked to prepare only the best $15 build-your-own Bloody Marys (vodka-based) and Bloody Marias (tequila & mezcal based)! Brunchers can chose from three different mixes (Spicy, Traditional &Tomatillo) and then pick out their own toppings to add. If you’re more of the unlimited drinking type (it’s brunch after-all), $12 unlimited champagne will also be offered throughout. Want to feel better about guzzling down 4 glasses of champagne before noon? For the first time in its 17-year history, Dolphin Mall will launch its very own featured restaurant program, Dolphin Spice. Throughout the month of September eight of the mall’s eclectic restaurants will feature a variety of lunch and dinner tasting menus at discounted prices.

FIBEGA, the premier worldwide gastronomy tourism fair, will take place in the U.S. for the first time next year from May 10-12, 2019. FIBEGA will bring together culture, gastronomy and destinations from different countries and regions to the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Friday, May 10, the first day of the fair, will be exclusively curated for gastronomy and tourism industry professionals. Guests will also be able to build and strengthen their current network, with the opportunity to meet tourism experts and engage with representatives from global destinations. From May 11-12, both industry professionals and consumers interested in gastronomy and travel will be welcome. With exhibitions featuring destinations from all over the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia, FIBEGA will offer visitors a chance to get a taste of the unique flavors and personalities that define various countries and regions.

On Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade will host its annual black-tie “Wild About Kids” Gala, with the exciting theme “A Night in Havana,” at the JW Marriott Marquis Miami. Proceeds will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s many positive programs, including after school programs, homework assistance, computer training, social skills, dance, arts & crafts, professional mentoring, and summer and athletic programs, for area children who need them the most.

The event will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception, followed at 8 p.m. by dinner, the program, dancing and live entertainment. South Florida’s top community leaders, philanthropists and socialites will be among the guests, who will enjoy a themed-evening full of surprises such as a classic car on display, luxurious and unique auction items, a large raffle giveaway of a 3-wheel motorcycle, and much more. Guests will also have a special opportunity at the event to sponsor a child through donations.

Norwegian Cruise Line will provide entertainment from its onboard production “Havana,” along with music by Albita Rodriguez.
