The Biltmore Hotel will offer a tasty diversion for children enjoying spring break in Coral Gables with the debut of its Kids Spring Break Cooking Camp. Ages 9 and up are invited to visit the renowned Biltmore Culinary Academy for a memorable hands-on experience.

Chef Jeannette Ozga, the Biltmore Culinary Academy’s seasoned instructor, has cooked up three unique menus for campers to create. Each menu includes an entrée, side dishes and dessert that are sure to delight ambitious young chefs with palates beyond PB&J sandwiches.

On March 25, campers will revel in the aroma of fresh tomato sauce, as they craft an Italian feast from scratch. A fusion of Asian flavors will tantalize taste buds during the camp on March 26, and campers will explore a variety of fun foods on March 27, including Rice Krispies-encrusted chicken tenders, potato pancakes, beef empanadas and ambrosia.

Each camper will receive an apron and recipes to take home. In addition to refining their palates, campers will gain confidence in their culinary skills, learn important lessons about kitchen safety, and perhaps develop a passion for washing dishes—something moms everywhere can appreciate.

The camp runs March 25-27 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., allowing parents to carve out some grown-up time for themselves. Campers may participate in one day of the camp for $95, two days for $165 or all three days for $250.

Parents may call 305-913-3131 to register, and learn more at www.biltmorehotel.com/bca. Registration closes March 21 and each day is limited to 10 junior chefs.

The Tropical Flowering Tree Society will be hosting its annual plant show and sale. There will also be fun “green” activities and entertainment for the entire family as well as animal enrichment with recycled items and/or natural materials like newspapers, cardboard tubes, bamboo, old tires, fire hoses, and more.

During Party for the Planet, guests can come in free of charge if they turn in a cellphone as part of our ECO-CELL phone recycling program. Not only will each person donating a cellphone enter the zoo for free on these two days, but they will also help save gorillas! Cell phones include coltan, a mineral extracted in the deep forests of Congo in central Africa, home to the world’s endangered lowland gorillas. Fueled by the worldwide cell phone boom, Congo’s out-of-control coltan mining business has in recent years led to a dramatic reduction of animal habitat and the rampant slaughter of great apes for the illegal bush-meat trade. By turning in your cell phone, we can hopefully reduce the need for additional coltan … and help protect the gorillas.

What’s Living in the Forest?
Animals are adapted to the conditions found in their particular habitats, so, you will most likely come across dexterous climbers living where there are trees, and skilled swimmers occupying water habitats. Exploring a variety of natural places filled with life is a lot of fun at Zoo Camp!

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
The way animals are, from head to toe, may be very useful in their survival. For example, if you were an egg-eating snake you’d be able to swallow whole an egg bigger than your head! Children will have lots of fun taking a look at very special head, shoulders, knees and toes found in the Animal Kingdom.

Animal X-Ray
This camp day will highlight what supports vertebrate bodies: bones. Of all sizes and shapes, they serve vertebrates well. Through exciting activities using replicas and preserved bones, everyone will be introduced to animal anatomy and will have a better understanding of how animals are built inside.

Birds
What do hummingbirds and vultures have in common? Discover the amazing variety of behaviors, colors and shapes displayed in the birds’ world. Finding out how to help protecting bird species from extinction is part of this fun and feathery camp day.

Animal Giants
Let’s explore facts and behaviors of some large and remarkable animals that inhabit our planet. They are enormous reptiles and birds, colossal mammals and impressive insects! You will have a great time identifying some of their unique survival adaptations and learning about the challenges they encounter every day.

Combining in-depth analysis, cutting-edge trends, compelling personal stories and a touch of humor, Dr. Richard Florida presents his insights into how creativity and the emergent Creative Class are revolutionizing cities and the global economy. Looking toward the future, Florida identifies the patterns that are transforming virtually every
aspect of our lives—from how and where we live, to how we work, to how we invest in individuals and infrastructure, to how we shape our cities and regions.
With statistics and examples, Florida illustrates how creativity and the creative class are the defining features of future economic progress. But if the dawn of this new era of the creative economy poses great opportunities, it also poses grand challenges that need be addressed.
Florida shows how the very same underlying force – the clustering of talented people, economic assets and innovation that propels our economy is also leading to growing inequality and class divides for cities and nations. The key to overcoming these challenges and to future progress, he tells us, is to tap and harness the full creativity of each and very human being. In doing so, he unveils the underlying keys to building great cities that power prosperity and can lead us to happier more fulfilling lives.
Florida lays out how our cities, our economy and our entire culture have reached a great turning point – one that is bigger even than the great transformation from agriculture to industry. He shows how we collectively today can lead to a more prosperous future for cities, nations and people.

Produced by Barry University’s Department of Fine Arts, this modern adaptation casts Tartuffe as a deposed televangelist who rooks Orgon and his family of their money and property and nearly compromises Orgon’s wife. The action takes place in a religious television studio in Baton Rouge where the characters cavort to either prevent or aid Tartuffe in his machinations. Written in modern verse, Tartuffe: Born Again adheres closely to the structure and form of the original. Moliere’s legendary comedic characters are delightfully at home in this modern day version that played at New York’s Circle in the Square.

Successfully hitting record capacity throughout the course of the night at their closing party this year, ANTS has been the standout debut Ibiza residency of 2013. Showing respect to the underground, whilst fitting perfectly in amongst the islands veterans, their colony of world-renowned guests, supported by their solid bill of residents has created a unique party atmosphere at Ibiza’s most sought after venue Ushuaïa Ibiza. Due to their quirky promotional campaigns and distinctive branding, ANTS has become the most talked about events of the season and with heavy plans for growth in 2013 and beyond, looks set to maintain its position.

ANTS deliberately keep the party underground and personal. In addition to the thousands of visitors flocking to Ibiza every summer, it is a party for the workers – the people who inextricably know the Ibiza scene – and this has been paramount to its success. From little bronze ants dotted around the island, to the ANTS logo on one-euro coins and cigarette boxes, the colony has been triumphant in its domination, encouraging everyone to join the colony. During the day DJs played behind Ushuaïa’s famous pool, placing them right in the action and as the evening unfolded the booth switched back to normal, with a heavy weight headliner announcing the second phase of the party. Fuelling the colony with positive vibrations are a range of top artists such as Joris Voorn, Nic Fanciulli, Deetron, George Fitzgerald, Hot Since 82, ONNO and emerging names like Andrea Oliva, UNER and Los Suruba.

“Through the Lens” – 60th Anniversary Alumni Artist Series: Exhibit 3

Carl Juste, ACND alumnus ’81, will present a retrospective of his work documenting the course of his 25 year career as photojournalist for the Miami Herald and past exhibits at ACND including: “Cachao” 2007; “Havana & Haiti” 2008; and “Invictus: Haiti Unconquered.”

Under threat of persecution, Haitian-born Carl Phillipe Juste (ACND alumnus 1981), fled with his family from Haiti in 1965. Settling in Miami’s Haitian community, Juste flourished academically and won a scholarship to the University of Miami. Although he intended to be an engineer, he could not ignore the photographic inner voice that had spoken to him since childhood. Responding to a clear relationship he shared with the visual world, Juste vigorously pursued photojournalism and since 1991, has served his community through his work at the Miami Herald. He has received numerous awards for his work from Picture of the Year, Pulitzer Prize, Society for News Design, Best of Photojournalism, and the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award. Juste is founder of both the IPC Visual Lab and Iris Photo Collective.

Juste has exhibited his own work and of his students from IPC Visual Lab many times at the ACND Gallery, and has exhibited at both solo and group shows at the Bernice Steinbaum Gallery, Little Haiti Cultural Center, and other galleries throughout South Florida.

6-Show SXSW Alt Country / Bluegrass act, The Defibulators hit Miami for a performance Tuesday Night show at Will Call Miami.

Miami’s own gem, Los Bastardos, kick off the night!.

“The Defibulators (not defibrillators) hail from Brooklyn, New York’s thriving indie scene and they’ve developed a funky, rootsy, out-of-control sound that’s all their own. The six-man, one-woman band blends bluegrass, country, honky tonk, rockabilly, Dixieland jazz, punk, and maybe a touch of anti-folk into an intoxicating, good-time mélange that’s guaranteed to slap a smile on your face. Roots-heavy, post-punk music that reinvents the conventions of country music with a CBGB-meets-Grand Ole Opry feel.”

Nationally acclaimed The Wolfsonian-FIU museum inaugurates the “Power of Design 2014: Complaints,” a four-day think tank that uses art, design, music and discussions to highlight community challenges and initiate collective problem-solving. The event will represent a new age in Miami’s market. The festival will bring together world-renowned change-makers, thought leaders and visionaries from multiple fields for lively discussions, presentations, performances and exhibitions in an effort to sway locals from dissatisfaction to action through empowerment. This year’s topic of “Complaints” theme is not intended as a gripe fest but rather an ideas exchange on what comes next: action, innovation, solutions. Several satellite events and initiatives will complement “Power of Design,” including a Complaints Choir, discussions on transportation, housing and much more.

“War Story” is the third film produced by an industry newcomer, Kreate Films, a local South Florida production company. Lee (Catherine Keener) is a war photographer who has spent her adult life in the world’s most treacherous conflict zones, documenting the catastrophes of others. When we meet her, she has recently experienced her own horror after being taken hostage and brutalized in Libya. Instead of returning to New York where her concerned colleagues and loved ones anxiously await her, Lee detours to Sicily instead, where she holes up in a small hotel to weather her PTSD on her own terms, not far from the home of her former lover and mentor Albert (Ben Kingsley). As Lee struggles to recover from her psychic and physical wounds, she crosses paths with Hafsia (Hafsia Herzi), a young Tunisian migrant in need of an abortion and safe passage to France, who bears a striking resemblance to a Libyan girl Lee photographed just before her capture. Desperate to connect, Lee tries to help Hafsia, and conquer her own formidable demons in the process.

“Six Degrees of Techno” (or 6DoT) is a new organization that connects passionate electronic dance music enthusiasts within local communities and bridges those alliances with similar groups in other cities. We seek to create and cultivate the valuable relationships made through the sharing of this music and leverage these relationships into something that is bigger than the sum of its parts. 6DoT’s philanthropic focus aims to help non-profits and other organizations that provide much-needed music education and artistic development programs to young adults that would otherwise not have access.

More information on Facebook

StarsOutreach is a non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is “to provide opportunities for talented students to interact, learn, and be inspired by established artists as their mentors in order to achieve their full artistic, intellectual, social, cultural, and physical potential”. Their artist enrichment programs focus on career development and specialized music lessons within their state-of-the-art facility in downtown Hollywood, Florida. Through guidance and positive reinforcement, Stars Outreach supports its students and enables them to rise above challenges by providing them with creative outlets and the opportunity to express themselves in productive ways.

More information at: https://www.facebook.com/Starsoutreach

An icon of Buenos Aires’ dynamic alternative music scene, Johansen’s music truly represents the sophistication of Latin American culture.

Born in Alaska to an Argentine mother, Johansen grew up between the US and Argentina. He spent his 20s in New York City, before returning to Buenos Aires to immerse himself in the life of the city.

His sound today reflects a sophisticated amalgam of influences, from his early rock years and modern songwriting, to classic Latin elements like tango and milonga – all anchored by a dose of poetic lyrics and sublime arrangements. His records have been nominated for the Grammy Awards’ Best Latin Pop album and the Latin Grammy Awards’ Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Music Video, among other categories. Johansen + The Nada perform their first public concert in Miami in support of their new “Bi”, as in bi-cultural, a two-disk edition reflecting the influences of both North and South America.

Tickets are $41.50/$61.50. Order them online here or call (305) 673-3331 or in person at the New World Center box office. Rhythm Foundation members, call us at 305-672-5202 for direct ticketing.

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Vera studied art extensively both in her native country, as well as in Miami, New York and Italy. Based in Miami, the mid-career artist has displayed at countless galleries and fairs throughout Florida, New York and overseas over the course of the past two decades. She has been featured in such notable publications as The Miami Herald and El Universal, and was also interviewed by Univision several times. Trek Six”s Odds and Ends show

Opening reception March 6th 7pm-10pm

Trek six will be raffling off an original 3ft x 4ft piece during art walk saturday!

Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to have work by a Miami legend!

“Odds & Ends is a collection of works that although were not design to function as a complete body of work do show a linear form of thought and ideas in transition. Many times when an artist is creating they go through many trials and errors before achieving the style or aesthetic they want , this body of work presents old pieces, new pieces and works that haven’t seen too much light but clearly show a path from point A to point B. Most of the work will be aerosol but there are some pieces that showcase acrylics along side their spraycan counter parts to create an atmosphere that is colorful, surreal, and curious with lines , geometry and experimentation.”

Author and advocate in the war against childhood sex abuse (CSA), Julie Marie Mansfield will be conducting her Catalyst Series/Book signing of her debut book ‘Maybe God Was Busy,’ 6:30pm, Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Books and Books (265 Aragon Ave, Coral Gables, FL 33134.) Mansfield’s goal is to raise awareness and create a platform to foster dialogue and healing for those affected by CSA. According to Crimes Against Children Research Center 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys is a victim of child sexual abuse. As alarming as these numbers are, they could be drastically higher as it is widely accepted that only one out of every 10 cases of CSA is reported. Jamaican-born Mansfield is committed to sharing her story, especially as the nation gets ready to commemorate National Sexual Abuse Awareness Month (April), and is hoping that in telling her story others will be encouraged to tell their own. She also hopes that people will see the face and human side of the ravages of CSA as oppose to just the statistics that are given when one speaks about CSA.

For the opening of his solo exhibition, Imagined Landscapes, Miami-based, Haitian-born artist Edouard Duval-Carrié discusses his new work with PAMM Chief Curator Tobias Ostrander.

The dialog will address Duval Carrié’s shift in aesthetic, using an uncharacteristically dark palate, as well as how he translates his references, 19th century paintings depicting Florida and the Caribbean, into his own contemporary visual language. The artist’s response to the role of images of tropical paradise, both historically and today, in obscuring economic and social disparities will emerge from the conversation.

Free with museum admission. No registration required.
Seating begins at 6pm.
Space is limited. First come, first seated.

Every third Thursday evening, PAMM brings together an eclectic range of internationally-acclaimed DJs and musicians for an outdoor music series on the terrace by the bay. This month, PAMM Presents Brooklyn-based duo Gatekeeper.

Inspired by the sounds and visions of forgotten b-movie film scores, classic fantasy games and lurid arcade imagery, the duo of Aaron David Ross and Matthew Arkell have created their own morbidly compelling discotheque, a vividly detailed flight of fancy in which the conventions of techno, Chicago house, italo-disco and industrial are transfigured into a singular phantasmagoric adventure populated by hushed screams, Gregorian dungeon chants and cinematic washes of mammoth sound.

Drawing from an expanding palette of innovative sounds, these musicians instrumentalize breath, mouth, and vocal chords to engage the physicality, variation, and sensuousness of the non-lyrical voice. C. Spencer Yeh (Brooklyn) and Stine Janvin Motland (Oslo/Berlin) improvise and compose, using the voice as a sound-making device that lies outside of speech acts and traditional modes of singing.

Established artists among a younger generation of experimental musicians, Motland and Yeh’s practices have historical precedence in movements of musique concrete, and perhaps sound poetry. Their use of non-linguistic vocal sounds in composition and improvisation may be compared to the approaches of concrete poets, who sought to elevate text above that of an impartial actor within the communication process.

City Theatre has packed up its shorts and hit the road for the 2014 Shorts 4 Kids Tour. This unique educational outreach program introduces children to the art of theatre through age appropriate, socially relevant, entertaining and exciting short plays that appeal to young audiences in bite-size portions.

City Theatre’s Shorts 4 Kids features a selection of three 10-minute short plays that focus on important issues such as bullying, self-esteem and acceptance. The City Theatre Acting Company, comprised of talented young artists from across South Florida, will engage the audience in a lively question and answer period after each performance. The plays and talk back periods act as a spring board for further discussion of relevant issues that challenge today’s youth. Online study guides are available on City Theatre’s website to help introduce students to the short play format and subject matter of the performances: www.citytheatre.com.

This year’s Shorts 4 Kids is directed by City Theatre’s Assistant Artistic Director Mcley LaFrance, and includes three new short plays by Jason Edelstein and Mary Sansone:

Sword Fate Online
by Jason Edelstein
Riza is enthusiastic about joining an online game called Sword Fate Online, when she runs into the most popular team called Heroes of the Hand. She is eager to impress them but is surprised that they are less than friendly. Will she falter in the face of adversity or will this be a story for the ages?

Mr. Nomis
by Mary Sansone
The last place Beau wants to be after school is playing with his buddy Robert’s little sister in the front yard. But Robert insists that having a ceremony for his little sister’s pet is more important than playing Madden. Will Beau help Robert or will he be the reason for a disastrous occasion?

Art Basil Basel
by Mary Sansone
Erik’s been waiting all year to go to Art Basel but what happens when he discovers that rumors are being spread about him that may jeopardize the trip.

The Shorts 4 Kids acting company and creative team features Andre Russell (Musical Director/Sound Designer/Sound Engineer), Jason Edelstein (Actor/Playwright), Mary Sanson (Actor/Playwright/Set Designer), Stephanie White (Actor/Dance Choreographer), Jovon Jacobs (Actor), Kaitlin Sarnacki (Costume and Prop Design), Georgina Delgado (Production Stage Manager) and David Diaz (Sound Technician).

The South Florida Irish Community invites everyone to join a traditional Celtic celebration at the 35th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival from high noon till 6 p.m., Saturday, March 8. The festival will also include many children’s activities, including a giant slide, the very popular rock-climbing wall and a merry-go-round. A wide variety of Irish crafts will be available for sale by high quality vendors.

On Friday, March 7, 2014, from 8PM photographer/author Annette Bonnier will host a public launch of India’s Elephants at Books & Books in Coral Gables (265 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables, FL 33134, (305) 442-4408). The vividly colored photo book documents India’s most mystical and revered animals, and their relationship with their keepers. The launch will also play host to an exhibition of framed images for sale. Print sizes will be 35 X 49 in. and 28 X 39 in., all of which will be signed.
India’s Elephants offers candid images of mahouts (keepers) and the elephants with which they work. The photo book is organized by themes including elephants in their natural habitat, decoratively painted and beaded for religious festivals, blessing patrons in temples, and captivating underwater photography showing elephants swimming in the ocean.
By contrast, Bonnier also captures the elephants interacting with humanity and the country’s booming industrialism: performing and training in the local circus, partaking in elephant polo for sport, interacting with ogling tourists and their cameras, and working in the logging industry.
The hard cover book retails for $85.00. A special limited edition, which comes signed and numbered, is priced at $350.00 and includes a linen slipcase. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Asian Nature Conservation Foundation (ANCF), the charity which Bonnier admires dearly for their work in education, conservation, and domestic management benefiting the Asian Elephant.

Acclaimed electronic musician and composer Daniel Lopatin – Oneohtrix Point Never – performs for the first time in Miami. For his highly-praised, most recent release, R Plus Seven, Lopatin assembles the sounds of corporate design – the sort found in commercial transitions, background music, and instructional videos- into songs that are as moving as they are conceptual. Awe, doom, and wonder arise from a range of referents – pipe organs and horns to the abstract, synthesized cues for soundtracked emotions.

This performance will feature a live improvised mix of visuals created by video artist Nate Boyce. His CGI forms, some appearing as modernist sculpture or consumer products, mutate and morph in disorienting virtual space. As with Oneohtrix Point Never, Boyce uses found text, the names of towns made enigmatic and website banners cut up and layered throughout like visual poetry. The duo have toured together extensively performing together at venues, including MoMA/PS1, Walker Art Center, and Wexner Center for the Arts.

Harmonic relationships between people and nature are successfully achieved through an abundance of symbolism, a flourish of colors, and a visual language or energy extended through every piece. Please join us for an amazing, unique opportunity to witness a clash of fierceness and beauty.

Kazilla’s exhibition is partnered with Blink Group, (A marketing firm for visual artists). Hosted by Alexandra Novaro, co-founder of BlinkGroup. For more information regarding “RIDING THE SUN” exhibition, contact Alexandra Novaro at Alexandra@Blinkgroup.net. Or visit BlinkGroup.net.

Geoff Dyer will outline ideas behind and inspiration for “The Ongoing Moment,” particularly his idiosyncratic categories for organizing photographic images. Tracing some examples of particular tropes, hats for example, Dyer will ask what larger lessons can be learned from indexing photographs in a way that veers from traditional art historical chronologies and taxonomies. What is the further potential of this method? Does it reveal something about the way photographers work, about a collective optical unconscious?

“The Ongoing Moment is a masterful meditation on photographs, but what makes it particularly valuable is the way it shows how Dyer has mastered the art of the essay, understood as a piece of discursive, personal writing, in which great, often melancholy themes are raised with lightness and very dry humour.” Alain de Botton, Books of the Year, Observer

“The Ongoing Moment” is available for purchase at the PAMM store. In advance of the talk, join a discussion group on “The Ongoing Moment.”

Free and open to the public. Space is limited. First come, first seated.

PAMM Free First Thursdays is sponsored in part by Knight Foundation.

Monty Python’s Spamalot, the 2005 Tony Award-winner for Best Musical, returns to spread laughter and cheer throughout the Kingdom of South Florida for a limited engagement. Lovingly “ripped off” from the internationally famous comedy team’s most popular motion picture, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” it turns the legendary tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table on its head with a chorus line of dancing divas, knights in tights, flatulent Frenchman and killer rabbits. It won three 2005 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Director (Mike Nichols), as well as the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for Best Musical. The original cast recording of Monty Python’s Spamalot won the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.

Directed by the award-winning David Arisco, Monty Python’s Spamalot features a book by Eric Idle, with music and lyrics by the Grammy Award-winning team of Eric Idle and John Du Prez.

“The most amazing aspect of SPAMALOT is that it works for both Monty Python fans AND musical theatre fans,” said Director David Arisco. “This is a huge Broadway musical with multiple large-scale and outrageously funny numbers, and it’s a perfect homage to Monty Python’s unique brand of humor.”

Leading the quest is King Arthur (Gary Marachek) with his trusty servant Patsy (Paul Louis). Playing his gallant knights – and a broad assortment of other characters – are Jim Ballard as Sir Lancelot the Homicidally Brave, Gabriel Zenone as Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-as-Sir-Lancelot, Shane Tanner as Sir Galahad, the Dashingly Handsome, Wayne LeGette as Sir Bedevere, the Strangely Flatulent, and Lindsey Forgey as The Lady of the Lake, a tour-de-force role for any comedic actress. University of Miami alumnus Jose Luaces plays multiple roles including Prince Herbert, Historian, Not Dead Fred, a French Guard and a Minstrel.

The creative team features Musical Director David Nagy, Choreographer Ron Hutchins, set design adapted from an original scene design by Jim Hunter (www.jimhunterdesigns.com), costumes provided by Costume World Theatrical (www.costumeworld.com) and adapted for this production by Ellis Tillman, Sound Designer Sean Lawson and Lighting Designer Luke Klingberg.

Preview performances of Monty Python’s SPAMALOT will be held Wednesday and Thursday, March 5 and 6 at 8 p.m. The show will open on Friday, March 7 at 8 p.m. and play through March 30, 2014. Evening performances will be held Wednesday through Saturday at 8 p.m., with afternoon matinees on Sunday at 3 p.m. A special weekday matinee is scheduled on Wednesday, March 12 at 2 p.m.

Preview night tickets on the first Wednesday and Thursday are $42. Tickets for weeknights and matinees are $47, and on Friday and Saturday evenings $55. The theatre offers a 10 percent senior discount rate the day of performance and $15 student rush tickets 15 minutes prior to curtain with identification. Discounts are based on availability and exclude Saturday and Sunday.

Group discounted rates are offered for 15 or more through our group sales department. Single tickets may be purchased through the box office at 305-444-9293 or online at www.actorsplayhouse.org.

Fairytale, a documentary film by Ai Weiwei, chronicles the making of a work by the same name. In 2007, Ai Weiwei invited 1,001 Chinese citizens of varying ages and backgrounds to travel to Kassel, Germany, for one week each, all expenses paid. The extraordinary event of such a large group of citizens traveling outside of China, many for the first time, enabled Ai Weiwei and the participants to discuss questions concerning identity, memory, love, dreams and the possibility of cultural dialogue. This 152-minute film describes the many challenges facing the artist and his volunteers in coordinating the work.

Fifty stories up, FIFTY reigns as Icon Brickell’s most exclusive lookout point: a spectacular, Asian-inflected private pool and lounge atop the hotel tower. Open Thursday through Saturday evenings, FIFTY is the ultimate downtown gathering spot for locals and guests alike to enjoy cocktails before or after dinner at Viceroy Miami’s spectacular restaurant, Eos, or as a prelude to a night on the town. Late night, the rooftop lounge plays host to an international who’s who, featuring a rotating roster of some of Miami’s top DJs and an ambiance that’s chic, sexy and quintessentially Miami.

FIFTY’s stunning interiors are layered with grained marbles and woods, Japanese woodblock-inspired prints and plants, with salt air and fresh floral blossoms scenting the sky-high atmosphere. From nearly every angle, the boundless view of Biscayne Bay below underlines FIFTY’s unparalleled perspective atop Viceroy Miami.

The Center for Literature and Theatre @MDC welcomes Colombian Ex-President Andrés Pastrana as he presents Memorias Olvidadas (Forgotten Memories). Pastrana’s kidnapping by Pablo Escobar, and their long conversations; the origins of the “narcocassettes”, tape-recordings which probe how drug cartels bought the Presidential Election on 1994; the persistence of Ingrid Betancourt, which led to her kidnapping by FARC guerilla, and forgotten chapters with President Clinton and Fujimori, among others, are some of the themes discussed in this fascinating book. Memorias Olvidadas is a revealing, honest and controversial book that unveils some of Colombian History’s hidden truths.
