Night of Advocacy in Action

MIAMI – MIAMI – ONE, in conjunction with PAX anniversary, will be holding a meet and greet with ONE Congressional District Leaders Betsy Skipp, Alix Gordon, Dani Bernal and Erica Bovea. Together they will be hosting a night of advocacy and action for the worlds poorest people by providing information of their current campaigns as well as volunteer opportunities – August 17, 2013 from 8:00pm-10:00pm.

From 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. there will be free entrance for the night’s festivities and all who come early will have a chance to receive ONE memorabilia. At 10 p.m. the official PAX Anniversary party starts and Xperimento & Herederos, a bilingual, multicultural band that blends world sounds take the stage.- Starting at 10:00pm until closing- $10.00.

As part of our ongoing efforts to raise public awareness about the issues of global poverty, hunger, disease and efforts to fight such problems in the world’s poorest countries, ONE Miami members take monthly actions and promote awareness building to draw attention to these issues and to engage and encourage everyone to become a champion.

In supporting ONE + PAX you would not only be supporting a most worthy cause, but would also strengthen Miami’s reputation in the international community and among the citizens of Miami.

What is ONE? ONE is a grassroots advocacy and campaigning organization, backed by a movement of more than 3 million ONE members, that fights extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa, by raising public awareness and pressuring political leaders to support smart and effective policies and programs that are saving lives, helping to put kids in school and improving futures. Cofounded by Bono and other campaigners, ONE is nonpartisan and works closely with African activists and policy makers. ONE achieves change through advocacy. We also support greater democracy, accountability and transparency to ensure policies to beat poverty are implemented effectively. This past weekend we had the privilege of attending an awesome competition that involved, twerking, swimsuits, beer pong, liquor and laughter otherwise referred to as just another day at The Clevelander at Marlins Park. We were asked to judge the Pool Boy and Pool Girl Competition and had an absolute blast. The Clevelander opened up a location at the Marlins Stadium, where fans can eat awesome food, drink, swim in the pool and get up close and personal with the sexy Marlin Energy Team. On any given day, you will experience in professional body painting, a kickass DJ and… oh ya,  a baseball game too. ;-)  The hopeful Pool Boys and Girls had to compete in aquatic baseball fetch, beer pong, interviews and a dance contest to win the crowns.  Allison and Corey pictured below in their victor robes earned the coveted titles. We loved this spot and will definitely be back to participate in more fun shenanigans.

The Palm Lounge (www.palmloungeboca.com), a new bar and live music venue in east Boca Raton, will host the Men of Adonis male review for her eyes only on Wednesday, July 24th from 8:30-10:30 p.m. The event will feature a number of male dancers performing. Mount Gay Rum had a party at the Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne two nights ago. I was in attendance with one of my friends and bumped into a few notable names. Let’s start with my bosses from Soul of Miami, James and Annette. James only wanted to know if I could be backup with the pics since his camera is on the fritz. I’ve got you covered, James!

No rum event is complete without an appearance by Rob Burr, and this was no exception. Rob let us know that this new Black Barrel Rum was a return to fine Barbados rum from a distiller that has a long history doing just that.  Oh, and the rum was really good too.

Fadil El Ghould A.K.A. R3hab, firmly established his name in the Dutch dance scene. After the popular remix of Chuckie’s “Toys Are Nuts” Rehab rapidly gained support from DJ’s worldwide. The track “MRKRSTFT” became a huge club hit and was featured on the 2008 Sensation White CD. After making successful remixes for the likes of Chuckie, Chris Lake, Laidback Luke, Hi_Tack, Sharam, Rene Amesz and Gregor Salto, it was inevitable that Rehab would show his face on larger events like Fame=DJ’s, Dirty Dutch, Rocksteady and one of Holland’s biggest dance festivals; Mysteryland. Iceland’s small batch Reyka Vodka is proud to celebrate the 2013 summer solstice with a three-part South Beach celebration, turning the longest day of the year into the longest night, in honor of the 24-hour sunshine over its native land.

Festivities throughout the city will be held at:
The Broken Shaker at Freehand Miami
Start the night with a laid-back bonfire featuring with S’mores and Spanish acoustic set by Jean Espiritusanto. Japanese lanterns, bamboo tiki torches and a hand-cut ice block for cocktails will set the tone for this relaxed rendezvous. Guests will focus on the peaceful nature of Iceland while enjoying $6 Reyka specials and punch bowl feature.
Time: 5 to 9 p.m.

Nikki Beach
This fire and ice beach party will feature fire-breathers & Icelandic DJ Felipe Caval.
Reyka bottle specials fort $150 and punch bowls.
Time: 9 p.m. to midnight

Rec Room at Gale South Beach
Reyka ends the night with “Northern Lights” at Gale South Beach with a black light party creating an aurora borealis effect in the South Beach lounge. Reyka bottle service available.

This Saturday night! Join us at MOVA South Beach for their Absolut Outrageous Masterpiece party. 50 Artists were selected nation wide and commissioned by Absolut Vodka to produce a 4 foot tall bottle sculpture depicting a specific Absolut signature cocktail. Artist Carl Pascuzzi was paired with MOVA and the Absolut Cosmopolitan to design his Absolut Outrageous Masterpiece entry titled “Swimming in the Cosmic Cosmos.” Sultry sounds of DJ VButterfly will fill the room and provide movement to the sound activated bottle. Expect plenty of Absolut surprises and drink specials but most importantly support Miami in the National competition by voting on the Absolut Outrageous Facebook page for Carl Pascuzzi’s interactive design.

Some of the biggest names in the Latin Community are anticipated to be in town for the Latin Billboard Conference & Awards, and some of those celebrities are putting there visit to good use. The Shore Club Miami, LHB Group, & Wynstar Worldwide proudly announces a Celebrity Mix & Mingle for a Cause. The cocktail reception themed benefit will allow guest to brush shoulders with industry elite in efforts to raise funding, increase awareness, and promote volunteer outreach on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami. “We are delighted that Mr. Alonso is dedicating his time & energy to help us spread the word of the importance of mentorship in our communities” Says Aimee Ariola, BBBS Senior Director of Strategic Events.

The event will take place at the Pool Lounge of The Shore Club South Beach from 4-7pm with the red carpet beginning promptly at 5pm. A select number of tickets will be available online beginning Monday April 15th with a minimum donation of $50.00 which will include Hors D’oeveres, a sponsored Cocktail Hour by LeSUTRA Sparkling Liqueur, and product from an exclusive Gifting Suite.
