About Dj Camilo
WARNING! Before he was a Heavy Hitter, a Party Rocker or an International Club King, DJ Camilo was just a Colombian kid from Queens named Juan Camilo Sanchez. Introduced to the art of turntables at age 12, Camilo debuted his first mixtape in the 1990’s called “CAMILO Vol. 1”. Encouraged by the positive response “CAMILO Vol. 1” received, Camilo began releasing monthly mixtapes and quickly made a name for himself in the NYC club scene. In 2001, he caught the eye of DJ Enuff, who worked at the most famous hip-hop radio station in America: New York’s Hot 97. For more than 35 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade has been selling Christmas trees and wreaths to help bring holiday cheer into many South Florida households. The tradition continues in 2016.

One-hundred percent of proceeds from the tree and wreath sales will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade, which serves thousands of boys and girls in Miami-Dade County with positive programs year-round.

To kick off the 2016 selling season, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade will hold a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony at the Hank Kline Club tree lot on Monday, Nov. 21 at 4 p.m. Attending will be Santa Claus himself to visit Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade children, local dignitaries and Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade board members and representatives. The new Kendall Jazz Club will be performing Christmas favorites.

The trees, gorgeous Fraser firs hand-selected in North Carolina by Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s President Alex Rodriguez-Roig, stand 5- to 14-feet tall with a starting price of $55. Plain and hand-decorated wreaths are also available starting at $35.

Tree lot open seven days a week, starting Nov. 21 until trees are sold out 9 a.m.–9 p.m.

With his A-list celebrity chums, astronomical bank balance and palatial homes in Miami, Ibiza and soon Los Angeles, few people epitomize the ‘superstar DJ’ like Erick Morillo. The organizers of the IMS music conference in Ibiza certainly thought so, inviting Erick to give a talk entitled ‘Big Dog DJs: Fuck You I’m Famous’ earlier this year.

Oltremare’s Executive Chef Dario Olivera invites guests to start the meal with a palate-cleansing conch escabeche alongside expertly prepared tostones served with a special “island sauce.”
For the second course, diners can choose from sea salt roasted beets served with Greek yogurt, honey cured pistachios and a blood orange syrup or smooth and creamy burrata served atop fresh frisee, pancetta and a basil tomato emulsion.
Main course selections include a rack of lamb with polenta and mint pesto, grilled grouper topped with a delicious pinot noir reduction with capers and cured tomatoes, or cedar key clam tagliatelle in a simple butter and pinot grigio sauce featuring garlic and cherry tomatoes.
To conclude the meal, a crisp turnover filled with fig and dates topped with chocolate, caramel and smoked sea salt is the perfect combination of sweet and savory.

Fresh American Bistro’s Chef Philippe Ruiz has created celebratory New Year’s Eve menus perfect for ushering in the New Year. The creative, three or four-course menus include highlights such as Scottish Smoked Salmon Baluchon, Braised Halibut Filet, Crusted Lamb Loin; and Foie Gras Terrine. The Kiwanis of Little Havana is set to host its 39th Annual Christmas Gala, with support from BMW, Bacardi, Coca-Cola, AT&T and Heineken.
