Greg Stuart is a percussionist whose work draws upon a mixture of music from the experimental tradition, Wandelweiser, improvisation, and electronics. His performances have been described as “a ghostly, gorgeous lesson in how close, concentrated listening can alter and enhance perception” (The New York Times). Since 2006, he has collaborated extensively with the composer Michael Pisaro, producing a large body of music comprised of pieces that focus on the magnification of small sounds through recording and layering, often in combination with field recordings and/or electronic sound. His role as an interpreter of Pisaro’s compositions has been called “a David Tudor to Pisaro’s Cage” (The Boston Globe). Stuart’s most recent collaboration with the composer, Continuum Unbound, a three-disc box set on Gravity Wave, grew out of the pair’s field recording work in Congaree National Park and was selected by The Wire as one of the best albums of 2014.

Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, capital of Bossa Nova, Rose is the great-grand daughter of the conductor Cupertino de Menezes and granddaughter of the guitar player Manuel de Menezes, both legends of the early Brazilian music.
Rose moved to the US, where she keeps a very busy performing schedule (about 260 shows per year). She has become highly recognized in the Brazilian, Spanish and American communities. Rose Max won for the 3rd time the Brazilian Press Award for the “Best Female Brazilian Singer Residing and Performing in the USA” and Miami’s New Times Newspaper elected Rose Max the “Best Female Vocalist” of the year.
Also a Rio native, Ramatis Moraes backed up the biggest names in Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), including Roberto Menescal, Johny Alf, Peri Ribeiro, Maria Creuza, Claudia Telles, Elizete Cardoso, João Nogueira, Roberto Ribeiro, Jovelina Pérola Negra, João de Aquino, Marcus Moura, Moreira da Silva, Golden Boys, Tim Maia and many others. Ramatis studied music at the Estácio de Sá University and was later tutored by the legendary Maestro Aristides Santos. Ramatis is considered one of today’s biggest Bossa Nova guitarist/bassist in the US and has been living in Miami since coming to this country, playing MPB, Brazilian Jazz, Electronic Music and Bossa-Nova at the most prestigious local venues. He is also a successful songwriter, producer and arranger, signed to Warner Chappell Publishing for six years.

Nicole Yarling defies description. Her myriad of personal influences have created a product that begs attention across the board. Her chosen instruments are voice, violin and fiddle (in that order). Nicole is a rich velvet voice with technical skill and personality to boot! She is a rising star in the jazz community who, like many others, has been at it for years.
According to the Miami Sun Sentinel, “Every musical hat fits Nicole Yarling. For more than a decade, she has been a part of South Florida’s musical world as a singer and violinist, working in jazz, rock, R and B, experimental music and a few other styles that defy description.”
Nicole’s musical excursions have brought about stints with Dizzy Gillespie, and three years on tour as a featured soloist with Jimmy Buffet. She also participated on Buffet’s platinum-selling CD, Fruit Cakes, and then went on to do eight worldwide tours with her own project, Little Nicky and the Slicks.

Join New World Symphony Artistic Director and composer Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT) as he leads an evening exclusively dedicated to new artistic creations. This event celebrating Miami and creativity in the arts is the cornerstone of NWS’s commitment to multi-genre innovation. The program includes the world premieres of a newly-revised Miami in Movements, two musical compositions and a short literary work by MTT himself and a micro-play by New York playwright Christopher Wall.
What does Miami sound and look like? The program includes the world premiere of the newly-revised Miami in Movements, a vibrant multisensory reflection on, and a love song to, contemporary Miami created by composer Ted Hearne and filmmaker Jonathan David Kane. Miami in Movements is the culminating work resulting from Project 305, which invited residents to share their stories and experiences of life in Miami in sound and video.
Glimpse of the Big Picture features three world premieres by MTT that include a short work for solo piano, a reading inspired by his recollection of a dream and a work for large ensemble, which MTT will himself conduct.
The Inherent Sadness of Low-Lying Areas explores how past experiences such as trauma can impact interpersonal relationships. The play weaves selected Fellows into the performance both musically and theatrically. This play will come to life through actors Joel Leffert and June Ballinger and through five Fellows, who will perform excerpts of musical works spanning three centuries.

Can I cancel? Cancellations must be no later than 72 hours prior to your class time in order to receive a refund or transfer to another day. Bookings created within 72 hours of a class time are non-transferable and non-refundable.
Are we in the cold? No! Drinkhouse Fire & Ice has an ice bar…meaning one room is made of 100,000 pounds of ice (the walls, bar, chairs, glasses are all ice). However, cocktail classes takes place in the lounge/bar area that is normal temperature. You are more than welcome to purchase our “Cocktail Class + Ice” ticket if you’d like to do the class and than go into the Ice bar after!
Do we need to bring our own coats if we want to visit the Ice bar? We have fur coats, hats, Ugg boots, socks, and gloves so you can come dressed however you’d like and we will take care of you!
What do I need to bring? Please bring your ticket printed or on your phone so we can process it! Please note, you will be charged tax and service upon arrival. Other than your ticket, come ready to have a good time! (P.S. you must have a valid ID or passport)
Tax and Service? Upon arrival ticket holders will be charged for tax and service charge. This is based on the price of your ticket. If you are a tax-exempt organization, you must notify the Venue upon purchasing so that Venue may make proper arrangements. If you fail to timely notify Venue of the tax-exempt status, then you must pay all applicable taxes and seek reimbursement from government entities as appropriate.

Can we take our cocktails to go? Unfortunately, the city of Miami Beach does not allow it, so enjoy your cocktails!

Forte dei Marmi and New York-based design gallery R & Company will present a special complimentary Miami screening of SuperDesign | Italian Radical Design 1965-1975 at FDM Arts Club on January 30 at 6:30 pm.
The 62-minute documentary film, directed by Francesca Molteni and co-written by Molteni and Cristina Didero, released in 2017, focuses on nineteen protagonists who defined this revolutionary Italian design movement.
The screening is followed by a conversation with R & Company co-founder Evan Synderman and Miami design collector Al Eiber.

In a program designated Triptych Miami, Eleonora Fabião will present three interrelated components. The action I Will Have a Conversation About Any Subject/Converso Sobre Cualquier Asunto finds the artist at various public locations over the course of three days, barefoot, sitting and facing an empty chair, and displaying a sign bearing the invitation of the work’s title. The artist will also present a lecture performance about her practice; a workshop with young artists titled Performance Art, Artistic Strategies, and Political Imagination (New World School of the Arts); and Light Cloud, an action that will be performed along with the workshop participants in downtown Miami. The unpredictable encounters that result from these open-ended situations constitute the works. Born in Brazil in1968, Eleonora Fabião is an artist and theorist who has performed actions in the streets since 2008. In 2011, she received the Arts in the Streets Award from the Brazilian National Foundation of the Arts and in 2014 the Rumos Itaú Cultural Grant that resulted in the publication of the book AÇÕES/ ACTIONS. Fabião is a professor at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in the Theater Directing Undergraduate Program and the Arts of the Scene Graduate Program, where she chairs the artistic experimentation wing. Fabião is interested in the poetics and ethics of the strange, of the encounter, of precariousness. She considers the street actions as forms of knowledge and thought, and understands concepts and theories as sources of energy to keep investigating and inventing city, art, university, and writing. Her performance work has taken place in several venues including as part of Performa15 in New York in 2015, and at the Centro Municipal de Arte Hélio Oiticica and the Museu Bispo do Rosário, both in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Elsten Torres is a singer/songwriter/producer who came to New York from Havana as a child. He was lead singer and songwriter for the American Latin Rock band, “Fulano de Tal.” After the breakup of the band, Elsten has continued both his own career as a solo artist and has had success writing for other well-known performers such as Ricky Martin, Luis Fonsi, Obie Bermúdez, Alejandra Guzmán, Julio Iglesias, Aleks Syntek, Oscar de Leon, Marshall Crenshaw, John Rich, and many others. He has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, the second for his first solo independent album, “Individual.” He has won several BMI music awards for his songwriting and is on the board of governors for NARAS. Currently living in Miami, Elsten works with charity organizations such as “Hope” (Miami Beach Homeless) and Susan G. Komen for the Cure. He has recently released his second all English album, “Waiting for Clouds”.

Israeli-born and Australian-reared Tal Cohen’s unique piano style owes its roots to the Jewish folk songs and classical music he played in his formative years growing up in Israel.
Tal was chosen as one of 10 semi-finalists in the Wangaratta Jazz Festival’s 2013 piano competition, Australia’s most renowned and fierce jazz competition.
Grammy-winning saxophonist Terence Blanchard invited him to perform with his Quintet at the 2014 New Orleans Jazz Festival. Later that year, Cohen appeared at the 2014 Perth Jazz Festival alongside acclaimed New York saxophonist Greg Osby.
Cohen was named the Grand Prize Winner of the Barry Harris National Jazz Piano Competition, gaining an opportunity to perform his music at the Main Stage in the 2014 Detroit Jazz Festival accompanied by bassist Robert Hurst and drummer Nate Winn.
After a final performance at the Sydney Opera House, Cohen was named the winner of the exclusive Australian Freedman Fellowship Award.
Now based in the US, he has become a regular performer with iconic jazz figures such as Terence Blanchard, Greg Osby and Robert Hurst and continues to tour the world performing his unique brand of improvised music.

From 8 to 9:30 PM he and his trio will perform “Straight Ahead from Havana,” his most recent CD release. Ignacio was honored to be included in the 2011 Mp3 compilation entitled “Jazz Drumming Legends,” which features some of the most renowned drummers in Jazz history. In New York City he was introduced to Dizzy Gillespie, who invited Ignacio to join his quartet. Subsequently, Ignacio took part of all the important bands Gillespie assembled during that decade such as: The Dizzy Gillespie 70th Anniversary Big Band, The Dizzy Gillespie All Stars Big Band and the Grammy Award winner, United Nation Orchestra. This relation lasted until Dizzy’s death. Gillespie best defined Ignacio as: “… the only Latin drummer in the world in the history of American music that intimately knows both worlds: his native Afro Cuban music as well as Jazz…” At once a veteran and a pioneer, he has been applauded through the years for his facility in combining folkloric rhythms with contemporary jazz and funk.
Besides Dizzy, Ignacio has recorded and played with musicians of the stature of: McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, Freddie Hubbard, Clark Terry, Lou Donaldson, Jackie McLean, Jimmy Heath, to name a few. Ignacio has recorded three albums as a leader. “Codes” (nominated for a Grammy in 2007 and won a Danish Music Award in 2007 as best International Jazz Album.) “Heritage and Passion”, released in 2014. Featured tonight with Ignacio are Martin Bejerano on piano and Josh Allen on bass.

On Saturday, December 9, Venice-based arts incubator In Heroes We Trust held an art exhibition for In Heroes We Trust: Street Artists And Their Heroes + rare book talk and signing at WeWork’s coworking space, South of Fifth, in Miami Beach with noted graffiti artists Ron English, Risk, The London Police and Seen with JC Coccoli moderating and In Heroes We Trust founder and author Neely Shearer participating.
The warmly-lit space provided the ideal backdrop for the talk with contemporary, eye-catching artworks displayed throughout the fifth floor from about a dozen or so artists such as: Annie Terrazzo, Homo Riot, Bobbie Moline Kramer, Le Fou, Kevin Glazer, Daniel Dugan, Tania Love Abramson, Zac Tomaszewski, Sarah Elise Abramson, Mads Hofmann, Daas and Peter Birk.
Guests sipped on drinks by Rosé Piscine while listening to the intriguing talk on street art and their thought process in creating their works. Following the discussion, guests were excited to have their copy of In Heroes We Trust: Street Artists And Their Heroes signed by the artists featured in the book.

The Miami Big Sound Orchestra is downtown Miami’s resident Latin Jazz big band since 2006, a project formed as a collaboration of musicians from Miami’s jazz and Latin music communities. The band combines 21st-century big band jazz with Afro-Cuban and Brazilian music, funk, and soul.
Hailing from all over the western hemisphere, the members of the MBSO are all veteran Miami musicians who have performed and toured with artists such as Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan, Issac Delgado, Jon Secada, Chayanne, Rey Ruiz, Tito Nieves, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Chaka Khan, and the Funk Brothers, to name a few.
The band’s repertoire, inspired by the music of Issac Delgado, Ray Barretto, Machito, Willy Rosario, Paquito D’Rivera, Irakere, and Tito Puente, includes original compositions by Rafael “Cali” Valencia (legendary Miami bassist/composer), Chino Nunez (Grammy-Award winning producer), and Jaui Schneider (former pianist/composer for Ray Barretto), as well as classics from legends such as the great Mario Bauza.
Their leader, Peter Francis, is based at NWSA and Miami-Dade Wolfson campus.

Presented by Faena Art, Phillip K. Smith III’s piece defines a reflective space within the beach environment, composed entirely of two most prominent elements: water and sky. Formed by 300 geometric reflectors angled at 110 degrees, the artwork directly engages with the ocean surrounding and the endless heavens. As the light shifts and the viewer moves through the installation, land, water and sky are separated, merged, and displaced, subverting one’s assumed relationship with the horizon. It is a constantly changing installation that can never be seen the same way twice.
Born in Los Angeles in 1972, Phillip K. Smith III received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design before returning to the Southern California desert where he was raised. Building upon explorations in the perception of light, color and space, he creates intensely physical and seemingly ephemeral sculptures.

Studio Drift, Faena, Pace Gallery, and BMW will premiere Franchise Freedom, a performative artwork at the interface between technology, science, and art on the beach of Faena District. An autonomous flying swarm of 300 drones, Franchise Freedom, supported by Faena Art, exposes the tension between individual freedom and safety by numbers. The sacrifice made by the individual subjecting to the group gives off the illusion of freedom, creating a never ending cycle. It is the first time that a natural phenomenon will be imitated by machines working with decentralised algorithms at this scale.

Her sound taps into the deep roots of R&B, the poetry of jazz and folk and the energy of rock. Her debut solo album, Mother’s Child, is a rich blend of soulful ballads, rock and R&B, and showcases her gifts as a songwriter; it is a universal story of love and loss. She has performed with a slate of powerhouse artists including Faith Hill, The Bee Gees, Kelly Clarkson, Gloria Estefan, and Carole King, and recorded with Barbra Streisand and Lenny Kravitz, among other artists. On stage, she played the role of Mary Magdalene in the national tour of the Broadway musical, Jesus Christ Superstar, earning critical acclaim which led to featured performances throughout the US and Europe.

The Miami Beach Jewelry & Watch Show, one of the City’s most anticipated events devoted to jewelry, has announced its new name and new location at Indian Beach Park. Produced by the Palm Beach Show Group, experienced show producers with an expertise in bringing together the best group of exhibitors from around the world, the event will build upon the strength of last year’s successful debut show.
Accurately highlighting the prominent focus of jewelry on offer at the show, the event will return as the Miami Beach Jewelry & Watch Show, February 1-4, 2018 to Indian Beach Park, 4601 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33140.
The Miami Beach Jewelry & Watch Show is set to provide an extraordinary showcase in Miami Beach for leading jewelry and watch dealers from around the world. With over 40,000 square feet of exhibition space, more than 120 dealer booths will flow throughout the Indian Beach Park Pavilion’s expansive setting, creating a show of spectacular breadth, depth and scope, allowing exhibitors and collectors to meet under one roof in a specalized venue on the Beach– all in one place, all at one time.
The Miami Beach Show will take place at the same great location as the renown PULSE Miami Beach Art Fair during Art Basel. The exceptional new pavilion is located directly on the beach next to the Eden Roc Hotel and just north of the Fontainebleau situated in the heart of Millionaires Row on Collins Avenue.

Once someone is labeled “homeless” they become invisible to society. Our intention is for the community to see, respect and assist the Homeless, helping build confidence and lift their spirits to encourage them to seek help in finding shelter, jobs, education, and mental health. Society is measured by how it treats the weak and vulnerable. We must give the Homeless access to opportunities. We must give the Homeless the right to choose the kind of services they receive. Española Way is revving up for its monthly event, Noche de Coche (Night of Cars). In Spanish, “coche” translates to cars, but it also means stroller. For Española Way’s Noche de Coche, this pedestrian-only street is inviting families to visit with their children and for one night each month parade down the street with wagons, tricycles, scooters and strollers. Restaurants lining the street will be offering specials, there will be balloon artists, lawn games, astronaut ice cream, bitbits chocolate, activities and prizes! There will also be prizes for parents as well!
Española Way is a historic street between 14th and 16th street on Miami Beach, stretching from Washington Avenue to the western corners of Drexel Avenue.
