It’s not quite Christmas without Santa Clause, and Brickell City Centre will be going all out this year with a dedicated Santa Centre at the garden deck, reminiscent of Main Street USA! This interactive and immersive space brings holiday elements to life with Santa’s Post Office and Command Centre, Rudolf’s Fuel Stop, Dancer’s Doowap Diner and a Pop-In Shop. Kids will have the opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap for a complimentary photo (only free place in Miami) and check his naughty-or-nice list.

Even Santa is going green this year – in addition to traditional paper letters to Santa, guests can use the designated iPads to write Santa all their Christmas wishes and even print them, if they wish. BCC welcomes all furry friends to partake in the festivities as well, anytime throughout the season for photos with Santa.

Hours:

Every Saturday and Sunday from November 27th through December 19th, 1 – 5 p.m.

Daily Monday through Friday from December 20th through December 24th, 1 – 5 p.m.

Rudolf’s Fuel Stop: For an additional photo moment, Rudolf’s fuel stop (modeled after a retro gas station) is a booth that guests can actually step into and snap a pic. The fuel stop features a fun vintage telephone and retro style gas pump made especially for Santa’s sleigh.

Dancer’s Doowap Diner: Dancer’s Doo Wap diner is an interactive photo moment (where guests can actually step into the vignette and grab a seat at the counter or even stand behind it ready to take orders. The diner also acts as a programming opportunity. Dancer’s special today? Eggnog and fresh baked cookies courtesy of Haagen Daas!

Pop-In Shop: This retro style pop up will house various programming opportunities and allow guests to step inside a cool and classic holiday experience. The space will allow for a maximum capacity of 5-10 guests at a time – similar in size to the Capsool pop up.

Master Brewer Academy’s comprehensive full “Professional Brewer Training” program! Designed for those with a serious passion for brewing and are planning to make beer their career or start their own brewery. Founded and led by Director of Education Todd Space, MBA’s classroom is the taproom with curriculum taught inside South Florida’s most noteworthy breweries, including Est. 33 (where Todd is head brewer), Cerveceria La Tropical, The Tank Brewing Co., and Tarpon River Brewing, and taught by their respective head brewers. Explore the whimsical world of French-Lebanese artist RACHEL K in her first US solo exhibition at the W Miami during Miami Art Week 2021.

Known for her larger-than-life sculptures and art pieces combining papier-mâché, paint, fiber collage and tiny vintage toys from all over the world, Rachel K’s art is a nod to our childhood fantasies and pop culture icons.

To commemorate this lively evening with the utmost glamour and extravagance it deserves, El Tucán will be hosting the ever-so iconic Carmen Carrera – TV personality star and transgender rights activist – who will take the stage to enchant guests with a stimulating burlesque performance. Boosting high-end glamour, captivating revelry, and seductive entertainment, the monthly pop-up series at the famed Brickell hotspot will offer two dinner seatings starting at 7pm and 9:15pm featuring El Tucán’s newly revamped a la carte menu by Mr. Hospitality’s newly appointed Michelin-starred Chief Culinary Officer, Chef Julien Jouhannaud. The evening will be hosted by international drag superstar, Athena Dion, and will feature a mesmerizing line-up of dancers and performers, sounds by Resident DJ Willy Monfret as well as special DJ set by David Nazar, and a thoughtful charity component in which a portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit Equality Florida an advocacy group that advocates for civil rights and protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer residents of the state of Florida.

The community is invited to participate in the seventh annual Kiddo-Ween, presented by Kiddos Magazine in partnership with CityPlace Doral. The free, family-friendly Halloween-inspired event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 2–7 p.m., at CityPlace Doral, located at 8300 NW 36th Street, Doral, FL 33166.

Kiddo-Ween will feature safe trick-or-treating, character appearances, scary faces photo Boo-th and an amazing Pumpkin Patch station. History Fort Lauderdale and Galleria Fort Lauderdale’s “Women Trailblazers: Champions of Change – Broward County” presented by UKG is a Women’s History Month photography exhibition that celebrates six impactful women of today who lead our community along with their pioneering counterparts of yesteryear.

This year’s modern women honorees are Lori Wheeler, vice president of Marine Industries Association of South Florida; Barbara Sharief, former Broward County commissioner and founder and CEO of South Florida Pediatric Homecare, Inc.; Heather Geronemus, senior director, social equity, opportunity and impact at UKG; Stephanie Toothaker, Esq., chairwoman and chief strategist of Toothaker.org; Joy Satterlee, executive director of Art and Culture Center/Hollywood; and Ramola Motwani, chairwoman, Merrimac Ventures.

Past pioneering women counterparts to be highlighted in the exhibit include Angeline Weir (1924 – 2007), Broward’s first woman distaff solicitor and secretary to Broward State Attorney’s office as well as the first woman to be appointed Municipal Court Judge in Hallandale; Sylvia Alridge (1884 -1962), creator of the first woman-owned employment agency in Fort Lauderdale plus a cab company and fundraiser/champion of desegregating healthcare; Elsie Bellamy Blackwell (1896 – 2001), business partner/owner of Blackwell pharmacy and restaurants Rockery Tea Room and Stranahan House’s Pioneer House, which was one of only three restaurants in the area in 1940; Jane Wray (1882-1969), preservationist who established Floyd L. Wray Foundation in 1969 to preserve 60 acres of land which would later become Flamingo Gardens, secretary and treasurer of Board of Flamingo Groves, and Hollywood School of Fine Arts teacher in 1926; Sadye Katz (1902-1986), co-owner of the first women’s dress shop with her husband (Mack’s Lady Shop), fundraiser for the first area synagogue, Temple Emanu-El (founding member), Holy Cross Hospital and War Memorial and founder of Service Men’s Center (1942); and Mary Brickell (1836-1922), regional pioneer and land owner who helped shape Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Colee Hammock and in 1917, was instrumental in developing Las Olas Boulevard and building a bridge over the New River Sound which connected the mainland to the beach.

Brickell’s friendly neighborhood gastropub and favorite place to watch the NBA Finals and all sports brings locals an event like no other. On Friday, October 2, 2020, from 7 – 9 p.m., guests are invited to “trade-in” their Lebron Jersey for a new Miami Heat Jersey. Guests simply bring their Lebron jersey in, along with $20, and Batch Gastropub will give you a beer and the option to light up the old jersey in their burn barrel, or drop it in a donation box. While Batch admires the unbelievable talent and work ethic of King James, loves him for his time in Miami and what he did for our community, they believe that Lebron made his choice and now it’s time to support the Miami Heat wearing their jersey to honor the “Comeback Kids!” Friday night is going to be one to remember; guests can also expect s’mores, giveaways, and a few surprises!

The fun doesn’t stop there! Batch Gastropub Miami is ready to serve its locally-sourced approachable menu and expansive drink list for Game 2 of the finals! Join us for Pérez Art Museum Miami’s (PAMM) Live Studio Visits, a series that highlights local artists through virtual visits with PAMM curators. Get a first-hand look at the artists’ work and practice through this intimate lens.

This month, artist Marielle Plaisir will join in conversation with PAMM’s Andrew W. Mellon Caribbean Cultural Institute Coordinator Iberia Pérez González. They will discuss how Plaisir approaches issues of colonialism alongside those of race and class. She examines the construction of identity by underlining common issues between US Black history and Caribbean history, including labor movements and the fight for equality through literature and philosophy.
