On Monday, December 12th, LILT Lounge, the Downtown Miami cocktail oasis, will bring a taste of Grand Cayman to the Magic City. The sultry cocktail lounge will host the exciting Taste of Cayman International Mixology Competition featuring six of South Florida’s top mixologists, all mixing for a chance to compete in the prestigious 2017 Taste of Cayman Food & Drink Festival in January.

From 6PM to 8PM, participating mixologists will shake up their best creations featuring Grand Cayman’s Seven Fathoms Premium Rum. Participating mixologists will include LILT ‘s own Lead Bartender Spencer Taliaferro, Area 31’s Benny Hernandez, Beaker & Gray’s Gabriel Benavides and Nicholas Mantzaridis, Brandon’s Palm Beach’s Lead Bartender Paul Ivan Ramirez, and Menin Hospitality Group’s Lead Bartender Joshua Gonzalez. Star judges will include hospitality industry VIPS ChatChow TV’s Gio Gutierrez, star mixologist David Ortiz, City of Miami’s Luxury Hotels Division Manager Aldo Jaquez and Cayman Spirits Distiller Moises Sevilla. The evening will also feature specially-priced Seven Fathoms cocktails, with sales proceeds to benefit PARK Project. PARK Project is a homegrown non-profit organization and volunteer driven movement with a mission to inspire people around the world to Perform Acts of Random Kindness (PARK) through fresh, ground-breaking initiatives. In 2015, 5K PARK Fest inspired more than 1,000 PARKticipants and benefitted 66 non-profit organizations and schools in the community.

The second Halloween Edition of Bay Skate Miami is just around the corner coming up on Saturday, October 29th at Bayfront Park. House of Horror, South Florida’s largest haunt experience, offers two unique haunts, a rockin’ travelling freak show, back-to-back horror movies, a freak gallery, carnival rides and the appearance of The Chainsmokers, Daya and Zara Larsson.

Adrenaline junkies will be taken through the 1455 Asylum, where people will come across what’s left of the overpopulated medical facility that has been overrun by the ghosts of mental patients. The Gates of Phobia will give people a 3D phobia encounter that will play with their senses, and back by popular demand, thrill seekers can take part in The Dark Hour, where they will walk the halls of the 1455 Asylum during a power outage between 10-11PM on Monday through Wednesday. A new and exciting feature this year has American Horror Story fans crawling out of their skin! The Hellzapoppin travelling show featuring the world-renowned theatrical, rock ‘n roll, circus freak-show will execute some of the deadliest stunts to a live audience each night. The Scare X Studios movie theatre will show cult classic horror films throughout the night. The Freak Emporium will offer a collection of bizarre items from around the world that will leave people in awe, and as usual, the Haunted Carnival will have plenty of rides for people to enjoy.

The 2016 Rio Olympics Opening Ceremony will be an artistic spectacle, including more than 6,000 volunteers, and will feature welcome remarks by dignitaries, the Parade of Nations, and the final leg of the torch relay before the Olympic cauldron is lit. The last torchbearer is a closely guarded secret during the months-long journey from Olympia, Greece to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It might even be soccer legend Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as Pelé, but it will remain a mystery until the show begins. This celebration of Brazilian culture and world nations can’t be missed.

This past Tuesday, hundreds of Foodies stormed the Southern tip of South Beach looking to experience the ultimate gastronomic crawl…and my oh my!!!… did they ever!!!

La crème de la crème of the world-class restaurants in the South of Fifth neighborhood rolled out their red carpets and proceeded to showcase their greatest hits to welcome the participants of South of Spice.

Only in its second year, South of Spice is quickly becoming the “must do” event for all foodies in the South Florida area. Its popularity can be attributed to three factors: affordability, quality and execution. Where else can you experience eight Top-Tier restaurants for $45.00?

Now, this is not a one meal, one dish type of set-up. We are talking about an unending parade of samples of the best each restaurant has to offer. You can eat as much as you want. Each restaurant also included complimentary beverages to accompany the samples. We are talking from a wonderful Sterling Vineyards Merlot at Red, The Steakhouse to Caipirinhas at Fogo de Chão.

As if the price and the quality weren’t enough, there are motor coaches, provided by miRide, on constant rotation to effortlessly chauffeur you from doorstep to doorstep. You don’t have to walk if you don’t want to but after several waves of delicious samples, a little walking helps.

Another good thing about the event is that South of Spice benefits the CI Foundation and their community initiative Eat Smart, which finds a balance between battling childhood hunger and providing healthy meals to promote youth nutrition.

The participating restaurants were: Red, the Steakhouse; Cibo Wine Bar; Il Mulino; Fogo de Chão; Izzy’s Oyster Bar; The Local House; Radio Bar and Craft Social Club .

We couldn’t visit all of them this time around but we can’t wait for next year!

Get schooled in the art of graffiti and breakdancing in an immersive interactive experience. Join River Yacht Club (RYC) for its first annual 4th of July celebration. The venue, typically open Wednesday-Sunday, will open its doors to the public on Monday, July 4th to celebrate America’s Independence Day. Patrons will enjoy an array of festivities, including musical performances, activities and a special menu offering American-cuisine favorites, infused with River Yacht Club’s signature European techniques. Special menu items will include lobster rolls, sliders, coleslaw, watermelon salad and corn on the cob, among others.
