Hydra’s Rain, a multisensory and participatory meditation guided by artist Hayden Dunham, where the audience will be bathed in sound within the museum. At 7 PM, Naomi Fisher, artist and director of BFI, and Katherine Fleming, founder of Bridge Initiative, will host a conversation on the ecologically-focused collaboration between artists Hayden Dunham and Katerina Llanes, discussing their upcoming exhibition with BFI, IN: the serpent :TO (Hydra’s Rain), opening September 28. The talk will take place in the Department of Reflection, a parafictional municipal office established in the adjacent Collins Park Rotunda. Cocktail reception at The Bass to follow the talk, featuring environmental atmosphere designed by Dunham and Llanes.

Global Arts Project and the Collins Park Neighborhood Association celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Tito Puente, Jr and His Latin Jazz Ensemble in a FREE performance in Collins Park September 29 from 4-7 PM. This is the fourth of five free concerts in the 2019 Artscape series. The park is at 2100 Collins Ave, behind the Bass Museum, which will have FREE admission for their Family Day program and children activities from 10am-5pm

Tito Puente Jr. is determined to nurture the musical legacy left by his father, Tito Puente, Sr., Latin jazz Mambo King, and he does so with charm and grace. The comparison is inevitable – in his looks, his joy, and his music. Crowds who were lured to venues by his father now return to see his son and to once again participate in the high voltage celebration that takes place on stage. Professional salsa dancers will perform during the set.

Our neighbors in the Bahamas had their lives completely upended by Hurricane Dorian. There are still search efforts underway for countless men, women and children. To assist in the Bahamian relief efforts, Fellows of the New World Symphony are gathering for a FREE performance of pop and light classical music in partnership with the National Association of the Bahamas (NAB) and Bahamas Tourism Office this Sunday, September 15th from 4-6 PM at the 1111 Lincoln Road stage.

Musical ensembles of string, brass and percussion players will present this two-hour musical marathon to assist NAB in collecting donations. Miami, Florida (September 9, 2019) – Parkinson’s Foundation is jump-starting Miami’s social season with a star-studded culinary fundraiser on Wednesday, October 23, 2019. Taking place at The Lincoln Eatery in Miami Beach, the tasting event will feature gourmet cuisine and libations crafted by some of the nation’s top chefs as they unite to raise funds to invest in research to help the one million Americans living with Parkinson’s. Net proceeds support the cause to bring together the top medical professionals and researchers to dramatically change the lives of those affected by Parkinson’s.

Led by Honorary Chair Aarón Sánchez, and Co-Chairs Alison Herman and John Kozyak, the event will take place from 7PM to 11PM. The Foundation has chosen to honor two exemplary women living with Parkinson’s. Zarela Martinez is a chef/restaurateur, cookbook author and television personality, who is credited with bringing authentic Mexican cuisine to the United States. Martinez, a 2003 James Beard Foundation Hall of Fame honoree was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2004 and has been an outstanding example of living well with the disease ever since. Mindy McIlroy, president of South Florida commercial real estate powerhouse Terranova Corporation received her diagnosis in 2015. A member of the Parkinson’s Foundation’s national board, McIlroy has personally raised half a million dollars for the cause while her firm Terranova has showed their support, bringing in an additional million dollars. McIlroy’s passion for travel and all things culinary led to the development of The Lincoln Eatery; the new Miami Beach food hall which will host the event.

Night at the Market will take guests on a unique culinary adventure where they will be able to stroll and indulge in specialty food and drinks created by local and national celebrity chefs and mixologists. Tickets are available at Parkinson.org/market and are priced at $250 per guest; VIP tickets at $500 per guest provide access to exclusive VIP areas, gift bags and meet & greets with the talent. Music will be provided by Private Property Band and DJ Danny Stern and opportunities will be available for bidding in a silent auction.

Guests are in for ribs, brisket, chicken and crab prepared in creative ways by James Beard award-winning chef Paul Qui. “Chef Qui intertwines his Filipino flavors, and some of his Japanese techniques, with classic Texas BBQ ingredients,” says Benjamin Murry, Pao’s chef de cuisine. “This will definitely give diners flavors they’ve never had before and that’s what makes it so exciting.” Think smoked and charred, tangy and sweet—all the classic foundations and flavors of a southern barbecue—but with interesting twists.

Kick-off your Independence Day weekend celebrations with a note-worthy performance from the gifted young artists of the Miami Classical Music Festival. Since its 2013 inception, the Miami Classical Music Festival (MCMF) has been proud to establish Miami as a premier destination for elite young classical musicians seeking the highest level of musical training from the world’s leading classical artists.

The performance will include a 65-piece orchestra and four Broadway solo singers. The orchestra will appear on Lincoln Road as a pop-up performance and gradually grow from a few musicians to a full-scale orchestra. The performance will start with a vibrant rendition of the opening of Game of Thrones. Following the pop-up portion, the orchestra will perform a concert with Patriotic and Broadway standards, including West Side Story Selections and Glitter and Be Gay.

MCMF has welcomed faculty from the world’s most esteemed music institutions, including Juilliard, the Curtis Institute of Music and more.

Kick-off your Independence Day weekend celebrations with a note-worthy performance from the gifted young artists of the Miami Classical Music Festival. Since its 2013 inception, the Miami Classical Music Festival (MCMF) has been proud to establish Miami as a premier destination for elite young classical musicians seeking the highest level of musical training from the world’s leading classical artists.

The performance will include a 65-piece orchestra and four Broadway solo singers. The orchestra will appear on Lincoln Road as a pop-up performance and gradually grow from a few musicians to a full-scale orchestra. Following the pop-up portion, the orchestra will perform a concert with Patriotic and Broadway standards, including West Side Story Selections and Glitter and Be Gay.

MCMF has welcomed faculty from the world’s most esteemed music institutions, including Juilliard, the Curtis Institute of Music and more.

With heavy hearts, we all shared in the loss of Sweet Liberty’s founding Father, John Lermayer, who was taken from us way too soon – just last year. John was the force and spirit behind Sweet Liberty, and an example of selfless and charitable action. At 24 years old, Veronica Swift is widely recognized as one of the top jazz singers on the scene.

In the fall of 2015, the young artist won second place at the prestigious Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition. Since graduating from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami in December 2016, she has performed with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Chris Botti, and Benny Green Trip, among many others.

Veronica Swift will be accompanied by The Shelly Berg Trio for her Faena Theater performance. A five-time Grammy-nominated pianist, arranger and composer, Shelly Berg is also the dean of the prestigious Frost School of Music at the University of Miami.

Hotel Victor is partnering with H3 Health Hope and Healing to host an educational series called Qigong: The Art of Self-Healing by Dashi. Dashi will share powerful self-healing Qigong methods for life-long health and spiritual fulfillment. This event will be focusing on Wisdon (Zhineng) Qigong: an eclectic system of medical Qigong developed in the 1970’s by Dr. Pang Ming, Chinese and Western medicine doctor and Qigong Grandmaster. Having studied with many masters, he incorporated elements from Qigong and different martial arts styles with the goal of creating a system of easy-to-learn forms that are both highly effective and safe to practice without the direct supervision of a master.

The National Hotel is hosting a classic rock-themed Open Mic Night at the iconic Blues Bar in honor of Zeke Whitaker, beloved late father of Nicole Marie Whitaker. Songs will pay tribute to Whitaker’s passion for classic rock with genre inspired tunes. Music lovers and aspiring artists are encouraged to “live a day in the life” of a rockstar by singing and/or playing classic rock tracks alongside the hotel’s featured band.
