Miami Boat Show going to even greater lengths to deliver an exceptional boat show experience including more boats, large yachts, marine product debuts, transportation options, dining and fun

Miami is THE place to be over President’s Day weekend as more than 100,000 boating enthusiasts from around the globe are expected to flock to the Progressive® Insurance Miami International Boat Show®. Recognized as one of the world’s largest and greatest boat shows, 2017 marks the show’s second year at the iconic Miami Marine Stadium Park & Basin, where it will unveil a number of elements expected to further solidify Miami’s position as the boating capital of the world.

Building on its 2016 success, the Miami Boat Show will unveil a number of enhancements in 2017—from transportation and product offerings to food and beverage—while maintaining all the elements that make the Miami Boat Show such a beloved experience for attendees and exhibitors. Highlights and enhancements include:

More Boats to Browse, Board and Buy – In-Water Selection Expands 35 Percent.
Organizers anticipate more than 1,300 new boats on display throughout this year’s show with more new model debuts than ever before. What’s more, the number of boats in-water is expanding 35 percent to an estimated 550 boats and yachts—all located in the show’s state-of-the-art, eco-friendly marina. From sport fishing boats and high performance boats, to personal watercraft and wake sport boats, family cruisers and luxury yachts, there is something for every lifestyle and budget.

More to Taste and Toast at the Miami Boat Show
The 2017 Miami Boat Show encourages attendees to come hungry and thirsty! A highlight of the 2017 show is an enhanced food & beverage program featuring more than 150 options ranging from luxe to casual fare.

More Large Yachts—New Yacht and VIP Experience to Dock at Pier 9
The Miami Boat Show is returning to Miami Marine Stadium Park & Basin with the addition of Pier 9 in order to accommodate more than 100 new luxury yachts for sale, making the Miami Boat Show one of the largest yachting exhibitions in the country. Attendees seeking the VIP treatment will also have exclusive access to everything from premium bites and live music, to concierge services, VIP parking, and an exclusive on-water VIP lounge aboard the 111-foot Biscayne Lady.

More Strictly Sail
In addition to the Miami Marine Stadium footprint, the Miami Boat Show’s second location, Strictly Sail Miami, will once again dock at Miamarina at Bayside and this year feature approximately 130 sailboats, a large selection of sailing and power catamarans, dozens of daily seminars, and the newest sailing gear. Visitors to the Miami Boat Show can access Strictly Sail Miami by free water taxis or shuttle buses, running until 7p.m. daily.

More On-Water Experiences
After its success in 2016, the Miami Boat Show will once again offer sea trials, where interested shoppers can take the boat of their dreams for a spin in Miami’s open waters. This year, more boat exhibitors will participate, giving boat buyers a chance to test-drive a number of options. In addition, following last year’s popular sold-out on-water boating skills workshops, the show will offer its Discover Boating Hands-On Skills Training with more daily power boating and sailing courses. Space is limited; advance registration is recommended.

More Support for Miami, Local Community
The 2017 show is once again expected to deliver a substantial economic impact, greater than two Super Bowls, at an estimated $597 million. More than 100,000 attendees from approximately 35 countries across the globe are expected at the 2017 Miami Boat Show, continuing to bolster tourism and put Miami on an international stage. The show directly employs 6,592 people full-time while supporting an estimated 55,000 jobs created by the Florida boating industry.
More Parking and Transportation Options

Come to the show by land or sea! With the popularity of park-and-ride in 2016 an estimated 80 percent of attendees parked at designated offsite locations and traveled to the show via shuttle bus or water taxi, the Miami Boat Show will offer seamless transportation to and from Miami Marine Stadium Park & Basin. With learnings from the first year at Miami Marine Stadium, the show has improved its transportation plan with even more efficiency including:
Water Taxis: The number of water taxis will increase by more than 47 percent in 2017. In addition, the capacity of water taxis will increase, holding from 50 to 350 people, larger than most of the water taxis used during the 2016 show. Water taxi pick-up and drop-off locations will be streamlined from seven to four– American Airlines Arena, the Hyatt in downtown Miami, the W Hotel (formerly Viceroy) in downtown Miami on Brickell, and Bayfront Park (Strictly Sail location) – to meet the high demand for water transportation. More and larger water taxis concentrated on fewer routes will provide frequent service to and from the Show.

Shuttle Buses: To meet the demand of show goers looking to get to and from the show quickly and easily, dozens of shuttle buses will circulate at all times from fewer locations than in 2016 to provide a more efficient transportation experience—getting more people to and from the show in less time. There are four departure locations throughout downtown Miami—Marlins Park, American Airlines Arena, the Hyatt in downtown Miami, and Bayfront Park (Strictly Sail location). An expanded shuttle service will also run between the Miami Boat Show and the Yachts Miami Beach show on Collins Avenue. What’s more, there will be new mini buses transporting show goers to and from parking on Virginia Key that will now operate with a direct route to and from the show’s front entrance rather than looping around the entire Rickenbacker Causeway.

Parking: Abundant parking options with an estimated 10,000 parking spaces, will again be available for show attendees in downtown Miami with easy access to water taxis and shuttle buses. Downtown lots include Marlins Park and American Airlines Arena. Reserve parking ahead of time at MiamiBoatShow.com.

Convenient parking on Virginia Key will again be available and can be reserved and prepaid in advance at MiamiBoatShow.com. Parking on Virginia Key will be designated in four key lots with general parking, exhibitor parking, new VIP & handicapped parking at the Miami Seaquarium, and valet parking near Whiskey Joe’s.

Visit http://www.miamiboatshow.com/public-transportation to view the full list of pick-up and drop-off points to access the show.

Art Deco Weekend Festival Miami 1/13/17 – 1/15/17

Art Deco Weekend Festival Miami – January 13-15, 2017
January 13-15, 2017
Ocean Drive
5th to 15th Street
Miami Beach, FL 33139

Miami Design Preservation League’s Art Deco Weekend celebrates “40 Years of Fabulous” with More Art, More Music and More Family Fun

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Art Deco Weekend, Miami Beach’s annual community cultural festival, is the Miami Design Preservation League’s largest educational program of the year. The Miami Design Preservation League’s Art Deco Weekend returns to Ocean Drive for its 40th year welcoming over 150,000 locals and tourists to Miami Beach’s Art Deco Historic District to enjoy more than 85 events over three days.

Whether you channel the Great Gatsby era, are a history buff or a classic car enthusiast, or are just looking for fun things to do with your kids, the 40th annual Art Deco Weekend community cultural festival brings more art, more music and more family fun to Ocean Drive this year.

Get decked out and Charleston the day away with Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra at the authentic “Jazz Age Lawn Party”… Miami’s First!

Enter your precious pooch in one or more of the 10 categories of the New “Bark Deco Dog Show.”

Shop the Expanded “Antique & Design Promenade” — featuring antique, vintage and home furnishings dealers.

Shop the “Art & Street Fair” with more than 60 New fine art vendors, as well as enjoy live performances by Miami’s own Fantasy Theater
Bring the little ones to the Expanded “Kids Club” full of activities by Miami’s leading cultural institutions.
And everything you loved from previous years is back too!
Come see five blocks of impeccable vintage cars on Ocean Drive at the “Classic Car Show.”
Enjoy live music and cocktails day and night, including jazz, swing, 50s&60s, rock and classical in the “Starlight Lounge” and “Speakeasy” under the palm trees in Lummus Park.
Grab a front row seat at the “Retro Fashion Show” on the steps of the Art Deco Welcome Center.

Take an “Official Guided Walking Tour” of the Art Deco Historic District or one of many other specialty tours ranging from “Cocktails with a Twist” to “Miami’s Underworld.”
Attend the highly-regarded “Lecture Series” on a wide range of preservation and history related topics.

All these fabulous events and more take place along or near Ocean Drive, which is closed to traffic and makes room for pedestrians to stroll this world-famous street lined with historic, pastel-colored, neon-lit Art Deco buildings.

“The early architects in the Art Deco Historic District were some of the best architects in the world, and they all happened to come and create right here at one time,” explained Lori Bakkum, Chair of the Art Deco Weekend Committee and a Miami Design Preservation League Board of Directors Member. “They worked with the light and the breeze from the ocean and the native vegetation to create Tropical Deco. They used the elements natural to here. The reason it’s fun to sit at a café in Miami Beach is because of all these things. Art Deco Weekend celebrates the preservation of this unique architectural heritage by the Miami Design Preservation League.”

The Miami Design Preservation League’s Art Deco Weekend is free and open to the public. The community cultural festival is made possible through the generous support of many corporate, government and community partners. Preserving Our History
The impetus to preserve South Beach’s Art Deco architecture began in 1976 when Barbara Baer Capitman, John Capitman and Leonard Horowitz founded the Miami Design Preservation League. At the time, many of the buildings in the district were in disrepair and in danger of destruction. The preservation of Art Deco architecture in South Beach was key to the city’s resurgence in the 1980s and ’90s as a desirable resort destination once again.

About the Miami Design Preservation League
Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL) is a non-profit organization devoted to preserving, protecting, and promoting the cultural, social, economic, environmental and architectural integrity of the Miami Beach Architectural Historic District and all other areas of the City of Miami Beach where historic preservation is a concern. Photographs of INK Art Fair 12/3/16

The small, but interesting INK Art Fair is one of our favorites! It features works on paper, prints and work that you will not see anywhere else. For example, one item we saw was a drawing of a capitol building from 1739. The oldest items we saw was from the 13th century. And they have work all the way up to today. It is a wonderful quiet respite from the noisy mayhem of many of the shows.

This year, over 200 of the world’s leading international Modern and contemporary art galleries display artworks by over 4,000 artists, including paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, film, video, and digital art. Visitors can find works ranging from editioned pieces by young artists to museum-caliber masterpieces.

NYC based arts organization Art for Progress (AFP) teams up with local Miami artists to celebrate the link between Cuban and South Florida culture for Art Basel 2016. The events will take place in South Beach with an art exhibit opening on Friday evening and a rooftop- fashion, music and performance art event titled, “Cosa Rica” is set for Saturday night.
The art exhibition, “P.U.E.N.T.E.” which opens Friday evening (6:00pm – 9:00pm) December 2nd, will feature eleven artists (Nestor Arenas, Willie Avedano, Orestes De La Paz, Michael Gray, Catalina Jaramillo, Brandy Lynn, Guido Mena, Natasha Perdomo, Rafael Ramos, Cristina Victor) working in various mediums (paintings, sculpture, installation, textile and drawings).

After many decades of frosty relations between the U.S. and Cuba, the recent positive developments have brought a feeling of excitement and hope to the Cuban people of both South Florida and Cuba. The exhibition observes the relationship of the artist to their environment- changing landscapes and ability to adapt-retreat, refuge and escape. Miami Beach Cinematheque
1130 Washington Ave
Miami Beach, Florida 33139

Miami Beach Cinematheque is proud to present Robert Adanto’s documentary The F Word, in association with Fourth Wave Feminist: The Photographic Works of Leah Schrager, this year’s Art Basel exhibition, curated by Robert Adanto. The reception for this exhibition, takes place Wednesday, November 30 at 5:30pm, and will be followed by a 6:30pm screening of The F Word.

The F Word explores radical “4th wave” feminist performance through interviews with a new generation of feminist artists who use their bodies as subject matter. Because the female body continues to be politicized and policed, and because these artists delve into the fecund territory of female sexuality, self-objectification, and the female form as a site of resistance, many remain marginalized by the mainstream art world. Brooklyn-based Leah Schrager, well known for her performance practice, Naked Therapy, states, “As soon as you introduce a bit of sexiness or sexuality into an artwork it suddenly becomes questionable. Just because something elicits arousal or shows elements of sexiness does absolutely not make it not art.” While some 4th wave artists, like Ann Hirsch and Kate Durbin, choose to analyze representations of female identity through digital media, others, like the radical, queer, transnational feminist art collective, Go! Push Pops, explore sexuality and gender in pop culture in the digital age. As feminist lecturer Kristen Sollee explains, 4th wavers, unlike their predecessors, “are not afraid to be ‘girly’, (or) to be hyper-feminine, or to wear a mini-skirt, to self-objectify” in the service of challenging patriarchal oppression or sexist ideals.

Featured artists: Narcissister, Ann Hirsch, Go! Push Pops, Leah Schrager, Kate Durbin, Rebecca Goyette, Rachel Mason, Rafia Santana, Damali Abrams, Faith Holland, Claudia Bitran, Michelle Charles, and Sadaf

Adanto’s film was screened at Dallas Contemporary, in association with Black Sheep Feminism: The Art of Sexual Politics, an exhibition exploring the works of Joan Semmel, Anita Steckel, Betty Tompkins and Cosey Fanni Tutti, curated by Alison Gingeras, and as part of The Guerrilla Girls Twin City Takeover in Minneapolis at the Walker Art Center. In adddition, the documentary was screened in assoction with Cut-Up: Contemporary Collage and Cut-Up Histories through a Feminist Lens at Franklin Street Works, in Stamford, CT. The film was an Official Selection of the Fort Lauderdale International, The Art of Brooklyn, and Downtown Los Angeles Film Festivals, respectively, and has been presented at The Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow, UK; School of Visual Arts, New York, NY; Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Minneapolis, MN; Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA; and Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME. In the coming weeks, The F Word will be screened at the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State University and the Institute for Research on Women & Gender at the University of Michigan.

Untitled, Miami Beach – Fifth anniversary 11/30/16 – 12/4/16

Untitled, Miami Beach
November 30 – December 4, 2016.
on the beach at Ocean Drive and 12th Street

Untitled, Art has announced its 2016 exhibitors list for the fifth edition of Untitled, Art, Miami Beach. The curated selection features 129 international galleries from 20 countries and 48 cities, with 37 new exhibitors including galleries from Iceland, Sardinia and South Africa, as well as a continuing strong presence of Latin American and European galleries. The 2016 edition of the fair will be the largest to date, with an expanded floorplan that will accommodate many exhibitors taking larger booths. Through its unique, curated, approach, Untitled, Art continues its strong commitment to presenting a selection of emerging, established and historical artists; providing visitors the opportunity to revisit and discover a diverse range of art works presented within an architecturally designed space.

Untitled, Art’s exhibitors are carefully selected by the curatorial team, consisting of Artistic Director, Omar López-Chahoud and co-curators Christophe Boutin and Melanie Scarciglia, who work closely with the galleries and their artists to produce a cohesive show that feels more like an exhibition than an art fair. The 2016 edition will offer visitors a compelling dialogue between new discoveries and influential historical artists; diverse presentations of technology-based works; and collaborations with a selection of prominent non-profit organizations.

The extensive list of participants taking part in Untitled, Miami Beach spans 20 countries including Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, Peru, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States.
Several galleries will highlight historical works that explore conceptual practices, including New York-based gallery Nyehaus who will juxtapose the work of two pioneers of the “Light and Space” movement – Mathew Scheiber and Laddie John Dill. Also exploring this theme, Galeria Raphael Ortiz, based in Seville, will present a survey of renowned Spanish collective EQUIPO57, whose radical multi-disciplinary practice in the 1950’s and 1960’s explored the ideas of authorship and the influence of art on society. In addition to Noemí Escandell’s Dairio El Blanco (part of this year’s Special Projects) Henrique Faria Buenos Aries will also show conceptual works by a selection of Latin American artists from the 1960s and 1970s including Delia Cancela and Mirtha Dermisache. Works by a leading figure in the feminist art movement, Miriam Schapiro, can also be found at Eric Firestone Gallery (New York).

New exhibitors to Untitled, Miami Beach include Reykjavik-based gallery BERG Contemporary, which will present new and rarely seen works by pioneering video artists Steina and Woody Vasulka. Through important video and print work the presentation will cast a light on the couple’s extensive career and explorations of the malleability of the image, the manipulation of electronic energy and the interrelation of sound and image. Cape Town’s WHATIFTHEWORLD will make its first appearance at the fair, presenting a solo booth of works by South African artist Paul Edmunds. Magnin A, from Paris, will also make their debut with a selection of contemporary African artists.

Miami is recognized as the gateway to Latin America, and Untitled, Miami Beach continues to have a strong presence of this region at the fair. This year, highlights include presentations from Baró (São Paulo), Mite (Buenos Aires), CURRO (Guadalajara), DiabloRosso (Panama City), as well as Galleria Macca’s solo booth of works by Argentinian artist Diego Singh. Argentina in particular has increased its presence this year, with seven galleries and numerous artists represented at the fair.

Time-based and new-media arts will also be presented by a number of exhibitors at Untitled, Miami Beach, 2016. Of note are two exhibitors whose programs focus on artist utilizing film, video and new technologies; Aspect/Ratio with works by Alejandro Figueredo Díaz-Perera and Sabina Ott, while Microscope will be debuting new works by Zach Nader, Kevin Reuning and Eileen Maxson.

As part of its curatorial ethos, Untitled integrates not-for-profit and artist-run exhibition spaces into the overall layout, positioning artworks and artists in direct dialogue. This year’s non-profits exhibitors include the ICA Miami, Aperture Foundation, Exile Books, Brodsky Center at Rutgers University, Microscope and SiTE:LAB.

bo.lee gallery presents artist Andrew McIntosh at Pulse art fair Miami
1-4th December 2016

Booth S-107
Indian Beach Park
4601 Collins Av.
Miami Beach

London based bo.lee brings the eerie Scottish Highlands to sunny Miami Beach in a beautiful pairing which reflects McIntosh’s new body of work ‘Where We Belong’.
Born in Scotland in 1979, for his latest body of works, Where We Belong (2016), Andrew McIntosh has returned to the landscape that surrounds his family home which he got to know intimately while growing up. In his trademark painterly realist style and with a subdued, earthy palette, the artist depicts beautifully atmospheric locations from marshy moorlands to misty woodlands and ice-capped hills.

But these are not simply haunting Highland landscapes, however, as clearly present within each scene is an old caravan, some of which might have been manufactured half a century ago or more. Situated in picturesque spots but seemingly abandoned and without a human in sight, these somewhat dishevelled caravans appear both strangely incongruous yet somehow completely at home. Glowing with the warmth of the setting sun, the caravans become transformed into mysterious portals to other places and other times, suggesting that metaphysics, science-fiction or the paranormal might not be far away.

Fans of Westerns might spot that several of the landscapes depicted inside the caravans are scenes from classic movies of this genre. It is as if McIntosh is drawing both a comparison and a contrast between the picturesque beauty of the landscape in which he grew up and that of the American Midwest. Both are places that inspire the romantic imaginary: dreams of travel and escape, of leading different kinds of lives.

Indeed, this new body of work might be read as a metaphor for faded or failed dreams of adventure, of journeying to places far from home, or back in time to places we once knew. While they are wistful, eerie and melancholic paintings, with their golden sunset scenes they are not devoid of hope, and maybe, just maybe, these caravans have not yet reached their final destinations.

PULSE Miami Beach returns to its oceanfront home at Indian Beach Park from Thursday,
December 1 through Sunday, December 4, 2016. The twelfth edition of PULSE in Miami will welcome a
diverse community of established and emerging galleries across five continents presenting the latest cuttingedge
artwork and current practices. Opening with its signature Private Preview Brunch on Thursday,
December 1 from 10am-1pm, PULSE looks forward to introducing its vibrant audience of art collectors and
enthusiasts to a dynamic overview of today’s contemporary art market.

Following last year’s successful expansion, PULSE will return with over 70 galleries and 200 artists
welcoming an array of national and international exhibitors. With first time exhibitors making up 25% of the
fair’s roster, PULSE will showcase new works from galleries from Colombia, Spain, China and Japan among
others. Housed within two spacious pavilions, PULSE’s overall range and diversity provides an immersive
experience for its guests. PULSE’s North Tent will highlight established galleries presenting multi-artist
booths while the South Tent spotlights IMPULSE, solo exhibitions whose artists are eligible for the PULSE
PRIZE, and CONVERSATIONS, dual-artist shows allowing galleries to explore conceptual dialogues
between the artists they represent.

This year, PULSE will debut its first PROJECTS Special Commission featuring digital artist, Anne Spalter.
The special commission, tied to PROJECTS programming, provides funding for an artist invited to showcase
their work at PULSE. Housed in the fair’s airy entry-way, Spalter’s Miami Marbles will invite visitors to explore
a new form of art ‘the Modern Landscape.’ Using photographs and video replicas of last year’s Miami Art
Week, Spalter digitally alters and distills images of the city’s atmosphere, architecture and foliage to create
contemporary landscapes. By abstracting Miami’s topography, Spalter encapsulates the vibrancy of the city
within each of her expansive spheres. An augmented reality component will also allow guests to engage with
the orbs through an interactive interface. Viewers will be able to explore kaleidoscopic moving videos on the
spheres and discover virtual orbs around the fair through the custom Marbles app.

“With the continuing growth of international representation amongst our exhibitors and the debut of Anne
Spalter’s special commission, we look forward to championing an experience that creates an opportunity for
deeper engagement and an even more rewarding experience for our exhibitors and visitors,” says Director,
Helen Toomer.

Premier line-up of galleries at Art Basel’s 15th edition in Miami Beach

Art Basel today announced the gallery list for its 2016 show in Miami Beach, comprising 269 leading international galleries, drawn from 29 countries across North and South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Exhibitors will present works of art – from historically significant projects and film, to painting, photography and large-scale sculpture – by Modern and contemporary artists. With a reapplication rate of 98% for the Galleries sector and in addition to a strong selection of returning exhibitors, the show features 21 galleries who are completely new to the Miami Beach edition, including 12 first-time entrants to the Galleries sector. The fair, whose Lead Partner is UBS, takes place at the Miami Beach Convention Center from December 1 – 4, 2016.

Attracting leading collectors, curators, museum directors and critics from across the globe, Art Basel in Miami Beach is the premier art show of the Americas, with half of the galleries having exhibition spaces in the region. The geographically diverse list of participants spans 29 countries around the world, including Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Cuba, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

2016 marks the fifteenth edition of the Miami Beach show, which has expanded over the years to include dedicated sections for film, outdoor sculpture, works in edition and curated shows of historical significance. The show has always offered both exploration – with new works created by emerging artists – and a continuity of a high quality international roster. Over 85 galleries exhibiting this year also took part in the very first edition in Miami Beach in 2002.

Joining an extensive roster of returning galleries will be first-time participants from North and South America, including from Los Angeles: The Box, Marc Selwyn Fine Art and Various Small Fires; from New York: Callicoon Fine Arts, Clearing, Di Donna, Thomas Erben Gallery, JTT and Off Vendome; from Mexico City: House of Gaga and joségarcía ,mx; and from Curitiba in Brazil: Simões de Assis Galeria de Arte.

New participants from Europe include Christian Andersen, Galleria d’Arte Maggiore G.A.M., Galerie Greta Meert, Galerie Maria Bernheim, High Art and Vigo Gallery. Reflecting Art Basel’s global reach, first time exhibitors from Asia will include Edouard Malingue Gallery, Leo Xu Projects and Nanzuka. For the full gallery list, please visit artbasel.com/miami-beach/exhibitors.

Comprising 193 of the world’s leading galleries, the Galleries sector presents the highest quality of painting, sculpture, drawing, installation, photography and video works. Highly competitive, the sector is always a highlight, leading 98% of last year’s exhibitors to reapply. In addition to many long time exhibitors, Galerie Nagel Draxler returns for this edition following a five-year hiatus. After previously participating in the show’s proposal based sectors, eight exhibitors will join the Galleries sector for the first time, including: Altman Siegel, Bergamin & Gomide, Cherry and Martin, GALLERYSKE, Galerija Gregor Podnar, Labor, Menconi + Schoelkopf and Pilar Corrias. For the full gallery list, please visit artbasel.com/miami-beach/galleries.

The Edition sector presents 11 global leaders in the field of prints and editioned works. This year’s show will feature Alan Cristea Gallery, Carolina Nitsch, Crown Point Press, Gemini G.E.L. LLC, Pace Prints, Paragon, Polígrafa Obra Gràfica, Sabine Knust, STPI, Two Palms and ULAE.

Survey returns with 14 focused presentations of work from before 2000, comprising: Carmelo Arden Quin (b. 1913) at Simões de Assis Galeria de Arte; Romare Bearden (b. 1911, d. 1988) at DC Moore Gallery; Graciela Carnevale (b. 1942) at espaivisor; Ibrahim El-Salahi (b. 1930) at Vigo Gallery; Margaret Kilgallen (b. 1967, d. 2001) at Ratio 3; Giorgio Morandi (b. 1890, d. 1964) at Galleria d’Arte Maggiore G.A.M.; Howardena Pindell (b. 1943) at Garth Greenan Gallery; David Reed (b. 1946) at Peter Blum Gallery; George Rickey (b. 1907, d. 2002) at Maxwell Davidson Gallery; Mimmo Rotella (b. 1918, d. 2006) at Robilant + Voena; Barbara T. Smith (b. 1931) at The Box; Betye Saar (b. 1926) at Roberts & Tilton; Kishio Suga (b. 1944) at Tokyo Gallery + BTAP; and Jacques Villeglé (b. 1926) at Galerie Georges-Philippe & Nathalie Vallois. Further details on the individual projects will be announced in the coming months. For the full gallery list, please visit artbasel.com/miami-beach/survey.

The 16 curated solo booths in Positions provide focused platforms for individual artists to present a major project. Adrià Julià (b. 1974) will transform Dan Gunn’s booth into a multi-media installation, which includes a mural based on Picasso’s ‘Guernica’. For Manuel Burgener’s (b. 1978) first exhibition in the United States, Galerie Maria Bernheim will create an installation through the interplay of light between sculptures and photograms. Callicoon Fine Arts will feature tapestries and enamel paintings by Ulrike Müller (b. 1971), while High Art will exhibit a series of ‘Trans-Habitats’ – invented microcosms – by Max Hooper Schneider (b. 1982). Through text, video and an architectural intervention, Beto Shwafaty (b. 1977) will address social and economic issues from Brazil’s recent political history at Prometeogallery di Ida Pisani. At RaebervonStenglin, an interactive installation by Dane Mitchell (b. 1976) will disperse an artificial scent that is typically used by hunters as olfactory camouflage. JTT’s installation of paintings by Becky Kolsrud (b. 1984) will reflect both her devotion to the female form as well as her infidelity to style, while at Off Vendome, Jeanette Mundt’s (b. 1982) suggestive female figures from historical paintings are set directly within the space in a performative staging. Melanie Gilligan’s (b. 1979) TV-sculptures at Galerie Max Mayer will be populated with abstract animations that comment upon systems of commerce. At Thomas Erben Gallery, Mike Cloud’s (b. 1974) heavily layered collages will recycle product imagery and scenes of consumer culture. Maggie Lee’s (b. 1987) immersive installation will recreate a teenage girl’s bedroom complete with embedded video works and handmade ephemera, while Gao Ludi’s (b. 1990) installation at White Space Beijing will appropriate symbols from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland to explore the relationship between virtual and real worlds.
