DRESS CODE

We encourage all of our guests to fix up and look sharp by coming in cocktail attire or formal wear. Please note: Casual attire such as flip flops, t-shirts or beach wear will not be admitted. This is showbiz, kid!

AGE LIMITS

For guests bringing minors to dine at El Tucán, please note that we accept 18 and under between 7:30 – 11:00pm. Our venue strictly enforces 21+ at any bar area. After 11:00pm, El Tucán is 21+.

On November 9, Shalva Children’s Center hosted a charitable event for Founder and President Kalman Samuels with the City of Miami, hosted by Dr. Jarred Mait and Dr. Ronen Harris to honor Shalva and inaugurate November 9 as National Shalva’s Day.

The nearly thirty-year-old organization out of Israel dedicated to providing transformative care for individuals with disabilities, empowering their families and promoting social inclusion. Shalva supports and enables families to raise their children with disabilities within the family framework, partnering with government, academic and philanthropic institutions in advocacy efforts to create a more inclusive society for nearly three decades.

Held at the newly opened CMX Theater at Brickell City Centre, James Jackson from the City of Miami awarded the esteemed organization founder, Rabbi Kalman Samuels with an honorary proclamation, declaring November 9 as the dedicated day for Shalva followed by an inspiring presentation and speech on elevating the Israeli community and beyond. Guests then enjoyed delicious kosher sushi and desserts. Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust Creates Art Installation to Ignite Awareness and Support Among Landlords About Homeless Housing Programs

More than 1,000 people call Miami streets home. The Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust wants to change that by growing its stock of available rental units to house the homeless. To help raise awareness of this goal, and in honor of Homeless Awareness Day, November 9, 2017, the Homeless Trust is launching an art installation called “Roofs Rising”– an initiative that encourages the public to rethink the connections they have to landlords who may have available housing.

Roofs Rising is mosaic made up of more than 1,000 hand painted mini-homes laid out in the shape of one large house. Each house was painted by a different student, elected official, community leader or activist.

“Roofs Rising may be Miami’s greatest reminder to date that housing ends homelessness,” said Ronald L. Book, Chairman of the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust.  “Our entire community needs to coalesce around the issue of affordable and supportive housing for homeless individuals and families, while learning about our RentConnect initiative, set up to fund homeless housing. We are using Roofs Rising as a non-traditional way to identify rental units so we can get more people off the streets, out of shelters, and on to living new lives full of hope and potential.”

Designed to call attention to the homeless housing needs in our community and to educate people about RentConnect, each house represents a homeless person living on Miami streets and in need of a home. The mini-homes will eventually become house-warming gifts to those in the Trust’s Continuum of Care, but more importantly, serve to open doors and pathways for supportive housing solutions for those most vulnerable in Miami-Dade.

The Homeless Trust’s RentConnect provides a team of housing professionals who connect landlords with tenants. The initiative provides guaranteed rent, high touch support for landlords and renters, security deposit support and claims based mitigation funds. More than thirty organizations– such as Ransom Everglades School, Florida International University, Chapman Partnership, Swire Properties, local elected officials and even federal officials – gave of their time and talent to decorate and paint houses and to assemble the project into a16’x20’ piece of art open to the public.

This unique art installation is being constructed as a first time project by Life Is Art, a Miami Beach based arts organization creating positive change in the community through art and culture events.

The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) continues to celebrate the 16th anniversary of its acclaimed Miami Spice Restaurant Program with a special one-night-only dinner in partnership with David Grutman and Executive Chef Ben Goldman of Komodo. Friends of The Underline and Baptist Health South Florida are warming up for summer with a new location and time for free Saturday Yoga sessions. The yoga classes will now take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Brickell City Centre, 701 S. Miami Avenue, Miami, FL 33131, Level One North Block (enter near the Coach store). After the class, students are welcome to stick around for an AcroYoga demonstration that includes a body-bending and mind-blowing combination of acrobatics and yoga led by class instructor, Anny Noratto.
The next class is scheduled for Saturday, June 3rd, followed by Saturday, June 10th and then every other Saturday until the end of the year. Participants can sign up now on Eventbrite.

When completed, The Underline will be a 10-mile linear park, urban trail and living art destination that will transform the previous pedestrian walkway and bike path under the Metrorail into a thriving space of natural habitats, world-class walking, running and biking facilities, inviting exercise zones and a blank canvas for local artists to contribute murals, sculptures, installations and performance art.

Technology is moving so quickly, and in so many directions, that it becomes challenging to pay attention – we are constantly on the lookout for the “next big thing.” While not all innovations are disruptive, still driving economic growth, disruptive technologies challenge and transform not only business models and the global economy, but life itself.

Simply think of how smartphones largely replaced cell phones and PDAs and, because of the available apps, also disrupted: pocket cameras, MP3 players, calculators and GPS devices, among many others. For some mobile users, smartphones often replace laptops.

True market disruption happens when there is a confluence of multiple events, including seemingly unrelated technology advancements in adjacent industries, by emerging complementary aspects and market readiness for change. For example, artificial intelligence offers the opportunity to change the health of populations, from how individuals track symptoms and life expectancy, to the very nature of diagnostic, surgical, and hospital care, and the economics of health insurance.

For companies and entrepreneurs, that means institutionalizing innovation. Empowering and appreciating employees for increased effectiveness. Having strategies to satisfy clients’ functional and emotional needs. Looking at all market players, even competitors, as potential partners in various levels of alliance. Looking at technology as an increasing enabler of effective change. Constantly looking at new ways of thinking and acting.

Experts suggest that disruptive technology trends to watch for in 2017 include artificial intelligence, automation of everything (cars, finance, etc.), internet of everything, virtual reality, 3D printing, biometrics and digital ID, big data, healthcare, mobile workforce, and space exploration.

Tigertail, as part of its April-long FIRE festival, presents noted NYC-based choreographer Reggie Wilson with his dance company, Fist and Heel Performance Group, at Miami-Dade County Auditorium to perform CITIZEN.

In this work, Wilson asks, “What does it mean to belong?” and “What does it mean to NOT want to belong?”, core questions of Reggie’s investigations for this new evening-length dance work. In CITIZEN, Wilson drills down into the human desire to belong with exponentially expanding questions: “Do the injustices in today’s America engender a feeling of belonging? What supports belonging? Is belonging solely something internal, inside the individual? Is a sense of belonging or not belonging, a private or a public matter?” CITIZEN promises to engage and compel while igniting perspectives on our compassion and humanity.

MIAMI – The Miami Taste of Brickell Food & Wine Festival will toast its sixth year next May 27th 2017, Brickell’s most popular event.
The one-day Festival set for Saturday, May 27th 2017 between the hours of 1pm & 9pm is an experience the whole family can enjoy.
Be sure to bring your appetite to Saturday’s festival where guest’s will enjoy signature dishes from Miami’s best high-end restaurants as well as a variety of fine wine, spirits and craft beers, auto showcase plus live international music.
A select number of tickets will also be sold for VIP Experience which for 21 and over. The VIP area is for individuals who want to enjoy a more exclusive area which includes complimentary tastings. This year we will have celebrity chef Dee Hodges who cooks for the Miami Heat, and has been featured in Bon Appetit Magazine and Epicurious.
Guests will also be treated to live performances by some of Miami’s most famous local bands.
The Party does not end there, after parties will take place at the finish of the festival, those nightclubs participating will be offering a complimentary Taste of Brickell Drink and free entrance.

Tickets – General admission tickets are just $10.00 per person and kids 12 years of age and under will be admitted for free. Guests also may purchase the “Brickell Deal” package for $25.00 per person, which includes general admission and four drink tickets good for alcohol and non-alcohol beverages. VIP tickets are $75.00 per person. A portion of the proceeds from Miami Taste of Brickell’s Food & Wine Festival will benefit the many non-profits we support.
“Every year we try to do something a little different”, “We have had to move our festival site a few times, but word gets around and people always find us.” says Cynthia Bettner, founder of Miami Taste of Brickell. “It’s an event the whole community can enjoy!
This year, our event has moved our date to May 27th 2017 from March as not to conflict with so many other event going on nearby at the same time. Picking Memorial weekend was a great choice and we look forward to a much larger audience.
Transportation is not a problem getting to the festival. We are a walk into event – we are only 2 blocks from Brickell Metrorail and Metro movers are 1 block on both 5th and 8th Street stations. Saks Fifth Avenue is joining forces with the Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC) to benefit the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, in celebration of the new Saks location at Brickell City Centre in Miami!

On Tuesday, Nov. 1, Saks Fifth Avenue and the DCC will host a cocktail and store preview event at the new Saks Brickell City Centre. Attendees will enjoy the opportunity to support the DCC while touring and shopping the new store before it officially opens to the public. The spookiest time of year is coming up soon, and that means costumes, candy and Halloween parties. East Flagler Street will close off from vehicular traffic on October 29th from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m for an adult, children and pet-friendly block party with various installations and activities, Downtown Fright Night: A Halloween Spooktacular. Kids will be able to partake in countless activities including trick-o-treating at the event’s participating vendors, face painting, arts and crafts, inflatable rides and a kids costume contest. More adult friendly activities include a “Hex your ex” station (where you can cast a spell on your ex by taking a shot), adult costume contest, and several bars of which you can find a spooky cocktail unique to Downtown Fright Night! Pups can also join in on the fun. Bring your dog to run wild in the “Pup Up Dog Park” and enter them in the puppy costume contest! The time has come for the annual October National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, when pink is the color of choice, and at Tino’s, pizza is no different. The local eatery is joining the masses to spread awareness and generate donations by hosting a pizza-making event where guests can create their very own pizza pie with pink sauce. The event will be held at 6:30pm and 8:30pm on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016. For only $22 per person, guests can enjoy the hands-on pleasure of crafting their own pizza using a variety of fresh ingredients with custom-made pink pizza sauce. Five dollars of each ticket purchased, as well as any donations, will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and advancing the research knowledge on both the causes and treatment for breast cancer. Each pizza-maker will be able to indulge in their own creation, as well as receive a complimentary glass of rosé to pair with their pink pizza. Guests are encouraged sit back, relax, and enjoy their meal either at a table inside or in Tino’s wine garden.
