The South Florida Pride Bands is welcoming new members for the 2026–2027 season! Whether you’re picking up your instrument for the first time in years, are an intermediate player looking for a fun ensemble, or an experienced musician seeking a challenge, there’s a place for you.

Join one or all of our performing groups as we prepare for a season of concerts and community performances from October 2026 through June 2027:

Concert Band: Rehearsals begin Wednesday, August 12, at 7 p.m.
Steel Band: Rehearsals begin Thursday, August 13, at 7 p.m.
Jazz Band: Rehearsals begin Tuesday, August 18, at 7:30 p.m.

Rehearsals are held at Saint Mark’s Episcopal School on Oakland Park Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.

The South Florida Pride Bands is open to the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgendered and straight-friendly community of all musical levels. Don’t have an instrument? We may have one available for you to use.

Not a musician? You can still get involved by joining the color guard, volunteering with event setup and breakdown, or supporting the organization through donations.

Come make music, build friendships and be part of one of South Florida’s most welcoming performing arts communities.

HAVANAFAMA y ARTEFACTUS Cultural Project presentan “El milagro de Madame Kirovska”, una obra del dramaturgo cubano Héctor Santiago que llegará al escenario del Centro Cultural ARTEFACTUS en una producción dirigida por Juan Roca.
La puesta en escena cuenta con las actuaciones de Julie De Grandy, Dairín Valdés y Dennis Mencia, quienes dan vida a una historia marcada por el humor, la sensibilidad y la búsqueda de la felicidad. La protagonista, Madame Kirovska, es una mujer excéntrica y carismática que, convencida de que el amor puede transformar el destino de las personas, emprende un singular plan para cambiar la vida de su nieto Albio.
Con una escritura que combina poesía, ironía y agudas observaciones sobre la condición humana, Héctor Santiago construye una pieza entrañable que reflexiona sobre las apariencias, los afectos y las oportunidades que la vida ofrece para reinventarse.

History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, will present “Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” from Thursday, July 9, through Sunday, September 13. This free summer fine art exhibit exploring Florida’s evolving natural and urban landscapes will feature works by award-winning artist Tim Forman and photographer David Paulo plus contextual historical maps of our timeless state.

Visitors to History Fort Lauderdale’s “Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” will experience Tim Forman’s artfully curated oil on canvas masterworks of the Florida Everglades, waterscapes, beachscapes and natural wildlife. These landscapes are complemented by David Paulo’s bold photographic narrative of buildings and neighborhoods in South Florida that are significant to culture and life of minority communities. Documented cities include Sistrunk, Lauderhill, and Dania Beach. Historical maps of Florida from pre-Revolutionary War/Spanish Florida in 1749 to British controlled Florida in 1763 to Florida as a U.S. state in 1845 and illustrative panels will context and clarity about our history.

“Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” is part of History Fort Lauderdale’s contribution to America’s 250 activities. On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.

Support for History Fort Lauderdale’s “Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” exhibit has been provided by the following Funds at the Community Foundation of Broward: Jan and Ed Crocker Unrestricted Fund, Leo M. and Alice J. Rutten Fund, and The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation Broward Community Fund. Additional funding is provided, in part, by Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward County Cultural Council and Visit Lauderdale.

History Fort Lauderdale offers a variety of engaging multicultural experiences throughout the year. It seeks to bring awareness to the community through both traveling exhibits and multiple permanent displays including “Women Trailblazers,” “Fort Lauderdale – the Early Years,” “Roots of Resilience: The Journey of Black Broward,” “From Dugouts to Dream Yachts: The Story of Boatbuilding Along the New River,” “Seminole Arts & Culture,” “New River Archaeology,” “Viva Fort Lauderdale: Celebrating Hispanic Art & Culture,” “The Growth and History of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office,” and “Take PRIDE, a Retrospective on LGBTQ Life in South Florida.”

History Fort Lauderdale is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. with docent guided tours, daily, at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Group walking tours are available upon special request. Admission is $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Admission is free for members, military and children ages six and under. This free special event designed for all ages will feature music, a scavenger hunt, and a drop-in art making station. Activities will be focused on notions of resiliency and hope as well as the role of soccer in the U.S. Specialized tours of the Freedom Tower with an emphasis on Unidad: The World’s Game will be designed to highlight impact of the sport locally, nationally, and internationally. Activities will celebrate and honor the influence of American soccer players as well as the dynamic success of the Inter Miami football club. The history of the Freedom Tower and its role in Miami will be celebrated.

Attendees may park for free in MDC’s Parking Lot 1 located on the south side of the Freedom Tower.
