The Miami Takeover will kick off its four-day urban entertainment beach festival at the iconic Miami Beach Bandshell on Friday, July 24th, 2026 (4 p.m. to 10 p.m.) with The Art of Laughter/Comedy Vybez with the nation’s funniest standup comedians including Esau McGraw, Joe Clair, Tony Woods, Ronnie Jordan, Ashima Franklin, Eddie Bryant, Lawrence Killabrew, Antoine Scott, Maria Sanchez and Howie Bell.
As a thank-you to the men and women who keep the city’s events safe, Miami Beach first responders and teachers are invited to attend and can get 50 percent off their tickets to Friday’s Art of Laughter/Comedy Vybez Festival. General admission tickets are available for $55.20 on Eventbrite, but first responders and teachers can use promo code “FirstResponders” at checkout and pay just $22.60. “We want everyone to come out and enjoy a full night of belly-aching comedy, live R&B musical performances, community and connection. This special show will be dedicated to first responders and teachers since they do so much to protect and uplift the community. Donating a portion of ticket sales to the Miami-Dade Counter teachers union— United Teachers of Dade (UTD)— to show our appreciation for them,” said Wylie Kynard, co-founder and partner at The Miami Takeover, LLC.
When doors open at 4 p.m., Dee Jay Casper will provide the sounds and live musical performances will begin promptly at 6 p.m., bringing together local Miami residents and DMV visitors alike to enjoy Washington D.C. ‘s Top 5 Band, Antfar Music, Quinn & The Jukebox Band and an incredible Toni Braxton tribute performance by R&B singer Latasha Bla’q. “Quinn is a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and member of the iconic r&b group Blackstreet that will deliver an unforgettable performance,” Kynard said.

This is the first opening event of six total events happening during this year’s Miami Takeover festival in collaboration with the City of Miami and its tourism department. Friday night’s live comedy, music & art event will be hosted by Miami’s Soul Scene Queen, the incomparable Ingrid B along with the punchline king himself, Spunky Robinson, delivering one of the summer’s most memorable standup comedy & live musical festivals in Miami Beach. “The lineup of talent keeps expanding and getting better— this will definitely be a night of entertainment and belly-aching laughter that shouldn’t be missed. The country’s finest standup comedians are coming together in one intimate setting to put on a show like no other. This event is for true standup comedy lovers,” said Wylie Kynard, co-founder and partner at The Miami Takeover LLC.

History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, will present “Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” from Thursday, July 9, through Sunday, September 13. This free summer fine art exhibit exploring Florida’s evolving natural and urban landscapes will feature works by award-winning artist Tim Forman and photographer David Paulo plus contextual historical maps of our timeless state.

Visitors to History Fort Lauderdale’s “Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” will experience Tim Forman’s artfully curated oil on canvas masterworks of the Florida Everglades, waterscapes, beachscapes and natural wildlife. These landscapes are complemented by David Paulo’s bold photographic narrative of buildings and neighborhoods in South Florida that are significant to culture and life of minority communities. Documented cities include Sistrunk, Lauderhill, and Dania Beach. Historical maps of Florida from pre-Revolutionary War/Spanish Florida in 1749 to British controlled Florida in 1763 to Florida as a U.S. state in 1845 and illustrative panels will context and clarity about our history.

“Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” is part of History Fort Lauderdale’s contribution to America’s 250 activities. On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.

Support for History Fort Lauderdale’s “Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” exhibit has been provided by the following Funds at the Community Foundation of Broward: Jan and Ed Crocker Unrestricted Fund, Leo M. and Alice J. Rutten Fund, and The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation Broward Community Fund. Additional funding is provided, in part, by Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward County Cultural Council and Visit Lauderdale.

History Fort Lauderdale offers a variety of engaging multicultural experiences throughout the year. It seeks to bring awareness to the community through both traveling exhibits and multiple permanent displays including “Women Trailblazers,” “Fort Lauderdale – the Early Years,” “Roots of Resilience: The Journey of Black Broward,” “From Dugouts to Dream Yachts: The Story of Boatbuilding Along the New River,” “Seminole Arts & Culture,” “New River Archaeology,” “Viva Fort Lauderdale: Celebrating Hispanic Art & Culture,” “The Growth and History of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office,” and “Take PRIDE, a Retrospective on LGBTQ Life in South Florida.”

History Fort Lauderdale is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. with docent guided tours, daily, at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Group walking tours are available upon special request. Admission is $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Admission is free for members, military and children ages six and under. South Florida Symphony Orchestra (SFSO) closes out its popular Summer with the Symphony chamber music series with a final intimate candlelit concert in Fort Lauderdale including a special meet-and-greet reception with the musicians.

Bids a delightful farewell with a “Sweet Serenade.” Dohnányi’s tender Serenade for String Trio and Dvořák’s spirited Piano Quartet No. 2, Op. 87 unfolds with exquisite lyricism and heartfelt expression, creating a joyous finale. Musicians Huifang Chen (violin), Brando Wu (viola), Claudio Jaffe (cello), and Catherine Lan (piano) will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 24, at Center for Spiritual Living Fort Lauderdale.
