Join The Wynwood Yard and partners Debris Free Oceans and AIM on this fun mission to beautify Wynwood while also making an impact on Biscayne Bay and Miami’s beaches. Inland trash eventually makes its way from city centers to our waterways, harming marine life and water quality.

This month, we’re fulfilling multipe New Years resolutions! Tapping into your healthy goals with a yoga & meditation segment to kick off the clean up with intention and balance, and an optional nutrition talk and mini della bowls to finish your clean-up mission. This month’s pick-up will feature Non-Prophet kombucha, brews at Veza Sur, vegan tacos & beer at Coyo Taco, and plant-based mini bowls at della bowls.

You’ll also feel good about starting 2019 off with community service and contributing to a cleaner community and planet. Kudos to you!

We will begin our mission at The Wynwood Yard. We’ll enjoy a kombucha, meet our fellow cleaner uppers, and learn about DFO and AIM. You’ll travel through the neighborhood, cleaning up as you go, and a make pit stop at Coyo Taco for vegan tacos and a brew. Finish at The Wynwood Yard with one final beer and bite.

Included in the $20 participation fee is a reusable KleanKanteen cup which will get you a complimentary drink at the entry to AND at the completion of the clean up (PLUS $1 back on every draft beer purchased ever at The Bar at The Yard forever thereafter), plus trash bags, gloves, pickers, and directions.

Aim is a nonprofit after school program that provides free yoga and educational programming to high school students. Working in conjunction with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Aim strives to help young people thrive. Through yoga, meditation and exercises that practice social and emotional awareness, students increase their self awareness and self management, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. At Aim, they are exposed to healthy lifestyle choices, meet with mentors, and prepare for what’s next in their lives.

Chris Dyer is a Peruvian-Canadian artist based in Montreal, who exhibits, performs and teaches his art worldwide. Though his styles, mediums and subject matter are in continuous flux, the main theme seen through his artwork is cultural and spiritual oneness of humanity and beyond. He serves as a conduit and builder of bridges between different art movements including visionary paintings, street art murals, skateboard graphics, and more. His subject matter is as varied as his styles, and the resulting art is a reflection of his personal spiritual journey. This is Chris’ first US exhibition in 5 years and he will be showing most of his original art collection, not to be missed!

Moksha Arts Collective has produced world-class multimedia events for over 16 years. This organization has presented international art fairs, multi-disciplinary lecture series, and outreach in local communities. We have had the honor to host both locally and internationally renowned artists and scholars. As of 2016, Moksha Arts Collective has been federally recognized as a 501(c)3 public charity. Moksha engages the community with events that spread awareness on key social and environmental issues affecting our world. Proceeds from this event go to support the various community programs of the collective.

The Main Event Celebration will feature art displays, interactive exhibits, live painting, live music from two stages, vendors and much more. We will feature live painting by Chris Dyer and a selection of painters. Installation deco by Funktion Forms and more T.B.A.

“The art doesn’t has restrictions and has no prejudices. The art is freedom and reflections.” With this slogan, Mex/Art is defined in an exhibition of the Contemporary and Pop Art that will take place from December 1st to 11th 2017, during The Miami Week of the Arts hosted by Florida City.
Mex/Art, a cultural and social project of Be/Art Gallery, is an online Gallery of art that promotes the works by artists of different origins, styles and genders.

During the difficult moments that we are living in the United States, in Puerto Rico by the devastations of the hurricane Maria and the earthquake (Mexico City, Morelos, Hidalgo y Oaxaca) that have occurred in past days, Mex/Art tries to be a bond of kindness and humanity with those whom have been affected.100% of the money collected from the sales of the opening day tickets, will be destined to support the Puerto Rican and Mexican victims.

Mex/Art will have areas like The Green Garden, where the attendees can taste many different and delicious traditional dishes with a contemporary touch. At the same time the Pop-Up Store will open their doors to the local and Mexican Designers that are in vogue to show their latest pieces.
Some of the Mexican artists that represent the culture with their pieces are Neón Carón Jesús Lima, Jorge Marín, Esteban Fuentes and Colectivo Madera de Lobo. As invited artist, there will be the brazilian Romero Britto.

La Santa Taqueria is collaborating with Be/Art Gallery to curate the culinary experiences for guests of Mex/Art – a contemporary and pop art exhibition celebrating emerging and established Mexican artists, from paintings and drawings to sculptures from December 1-11. Artists featured include Romero Britto (Brazilian invited artist), Jorge Marin, Jesus Lima, Neon Caron, Alvaro Cuevas, Gabriela Montano, Robert Morleghem, Carlos Luna (Cuban invited artist) and more.

Concrete Beach Brewery’s Deck the Walls returns this November, featuring a weekend-long can release party. On November 10th, the brewery will be releasing cans of their coveted Deck the Walls Imperial Spiced Porter in special, limited edition cans. The weekend-long celebration, aptly named Deck the Walls, is an annual event the shines a light on the beer and local art. Every year the Deck the Walls can features work from a different artist. This years can design features art from Miami-based artist, Courtney Einhorn, who will be hosting a meet and greet on Saturday during the festivities. Things are getting spooky at GK Bistronomie on Halloween night!

This restaurant located in the heart of Wynwood will be serving up a variety of different concoctions on Wednesday, October 31st for all the witches and warlocks out that night!

From 6PM- 8PM beers will be going for $3 and cocktails for $5. Cocktails can either be enjoyed while sitting down in the restaurant or if the guest can’t stay they can easily take it to go in a Grab N’ Go bag.

Sereia Films, a local documentary film production company, has partnered with Floyd Miami to host their first ever fundraising event, Dance for the Fish.
The fundraiser event will serve as the official launch party for Sereia Films newest web series documentary, Eating Out: The Hunt for Sustainable Seafood. The docuseries will give viewers an in-depth look accessing the sustainability of certain dishes at popular Miami restaurants. Each web short will feature a different co-host in the sustainable seafood industry including University of Miami researcher and U.S. champion free-diver, Dr. Claire Beatrix Paris and sustainable seafood author Paul Greenberg. All ticket sales proceeds will be donated to the Sereia Films production fund.
In addition, the Dance for the Fish event will feature a live performance by the official Kukuwa Fitness dancers and a special presentation from the Making Moves Universal program founded by Dr. Niraj Mehta, a program that uses dance as a form of coping treatment for cancer and other various illnesses. All guests will receive a complimentary cocktail upon arrival courtesy of New Amsterdamn Vodka plus an exclusive late night happy hour proced cocktail menu will be offered and music will be provided by DJ Carter Jackson-Brown. Videos produced by Sereia Films showcasing various Florida ecosystems will be showing throughout the evening

Brightline and the FIFA World Cup Wynwood Series have come together to make sure that soccer fans get an out-of-this-world experience for the final game this Sunday, July 15. The action will begin at the Brightline train stations themselves and continue all the way to the Wynwood Marketplace. Soccer fans in South Florida from Palm Beach and Broward counties will be transported to Miami for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. The stations will be decorated from the countries that will be playing in the final game, and while on board riders will get the chance to jam to live music, get their face painted and quench their thirst with specialty themed cocktails. Brightline will depart from West Palm at 9 a.m. and Fort Lauderdale at 9:42 a.m. Lyft is Brightline’s official rideshare partner and has designated pick-up and drop-off locations at each station for guests’ convenience.

Summertime is all about kids having fun outdoors, learning new skills not taught at school, and discovering the world around them outside of the classroom. Summer Fun Expo is your one-stop-shop to learn about The Yard’s creative, hands-on and most importantly, fun summertime activities available for kids or summer break and summer camp field trips.

This expo will feature a variety of activities that can be included in school field trips for students of all ages. Enjoy our new Eventstar pavilion, as well as our YardBox–events will go on rain or shine!

Kids will have a chance to flex their green thumbs with a seed planting workshop with Urban Greenworks, who provides environmental projects and food security programming to underserved urban communities in South Florida.

They can also take a techy spin outdoors at the Learn 01 virtual reality station or learn to upcycle their clothes, toys, and more with The Full Edit—all while enjoying healthy sips from The Painted Snail Apothecary.

Complimentary kids’ samples will be provided by della bowls (rice & beans) and Pasilla Tacos (quesadillas).
The Expo is perfect for or an outing with your family—all activities included for just $10 per child!

We also welcome camp directors and teachers looking to scout cool new activities. The eclectic venue is pleased to welcome Cuban artist El Sexto, also known as Danilo Maldonado Machado, to rácket’s weekly Homecookin’ party as a pre-Independence Day celebration.

The event will revolve around El Sexto’s live painting performance, which will transcend the radical Cuban politics with infectious energy, humor and freedom. His art breaks down barriers with its humane expressiveness and universal appeal, but goes far beyond the dichotomy of political systems. With the state of our country’s human rights cloudiness, El Sexto represents freedom of expression through his art, a nonviolent form of activism. Art is a universal language that unites humans from all different backgrounds with one common ground, creativity. Attendees will be able to meet the artist as he will be present throughout the night. El Sexto’s art on view will be for sale. In addition to his visual presentation, ladies drink free from 11:00 pm to 1:00 am, and snacks will be served throughout the night by Homecookin’ host since 1995, Shelley Novak.

About the Artist: El Sexto, also known as Danilo Maldonado Machado, is considered Cuba’s number one dissident artist. His dramatic exhibition was featured on every major outlet including The New York Times. Since 2008, he has not only brought his unique form of graffiti across the streets, alleys and decaying buildings of Havana, but has managed to produce an amazing body of paintings under increasingly intolerable conditions. Painter, graffiti artist, performance artist, master draftsman, dissident, pacifist, Havel Prize laureate, political philosopher and social media phenomenon: El Sexto is also a hero. He reconciles his life and his art, both showman and shaman. Above all, El Sexto’s essential medium is freedom and the world is his studio – even prison. His very name, El Sexto (“The Sixth” in Spanish) is a direct reference to the Cuban Five who were elevated to national heroes by Castro’s propaganda machine in 2014, after being released from a US prison on charges of spying. Now free and working in Miami, El Sexto is highly recognized and admired for his work, and prompts the public to share his stellar journey.

MegaRumba to Support Those in Need of Food and Medicine in Venezuela

SWARM and iHeart’s TU 94.9 have once again partnered to bring MegaRumba to Wynwood. This year, they will be raising funds in support of the Cuatro Por Venezuela Foundation, which has been fighting hunger, illness, and poverty in Venezuela since 2016. Taking place on the 20th of July, this festival of independence for all Hispanic cultures welcomes everyone to join in this single collective celebration, being a source of mutual pride and unity, and allowing everyone to enjoy a variety of Latin music, flavors, dancing, arts and crafts.

For the first time ever in the U.S., Danny Ocean will perform “Me Rehuso” at MegaRumba. Also performing live is Sofia Reyes, winner of an MTV Millennial, Latin Grammy and iHeart Media Award, as well as Grammy and Latin Grammy nominated bilingual Latin band, Locos Por Juana. Venezuelan singer/actor Victor Drijo and Nicole Favre will also join iHeart radio’s ever-popular DJ’s on center stage. In addition, there will be food trucks, arts & craft vendors, and several fully stocked bars, offering everything from the best of Bud Light and mixed drinks to specialty flavored mojitos by Cruzan.

The festival will run from 7PM to 3AM and it will continue to be FREE to enjoy. With the purchase of a $10 donation ticket, people can help Venezuela, but also enjoy a free Bud Light and shot from the giant Aguardiente Ice Luge ($19 value). Cuatro Por Venezuela Foundation will receive 100% of that ticket, so they may continue to provide educational, medical, and nutritional aid to Venezuelans in need. “Venezuela is under a profound humanitarian crisis, and we want to do something about it. One of the great things about Miami is our ethnic unity and getting to witness the neighborly love as the melting pot of Latin cultures come together in times of need. We are eager to help in this time of desperation in Venezuela and are excited to contribute towards uniting others in helping as well,” says Tony Albelo, SWARM CEO. South Florida has the largest concentration of Venezuelans in the United States, and SWARM is hoping to make a positive impact towards getting Venezuela some much needed help.

This Earth Day special edition of The Yard’s Community Cleanup monthly event is presented in collaboration with Surfrider Miami and Debris Free Oceans. Meet at The Yard at 4 p.m. and get ready for a fun neighborhood mission to beautify Wynwood while also making an impact on Biscayne Bay and our Miami beaches where trash eventually makes its way from city centers, harming marine life and water quality.

Included in the $20 participation fee is a reusable Klean Kanteen cup which will get you a complimentary draft beer at entry to the clean up (PLUS $1 off every draft beer purchased ever at The Bar at The Yard forever after), trash bags, gloves and directions. You’ll travel through the neighborhood, cleaning up as you go, making pit stops for sponsored drinks, bites, and insight at Division Surf & Skate Shop, Concrete Beach Brewery, and R House Wynwood.
