Corazón Abriendo (Heart Opening) is a portal to the vivid and extraordinary world of the Maya civilization. Audiences are transported on a skillfully threaded, multi-media cloth of dance, sculpture, video, and music. Echoes of ancient societies overlap with the energy of modern life as the artistic sensibilities of contemporary dancers meld with the traditional weaving arts of the Mayan people.
The 8th Miami Dance Festival Recognition Award will be presented to Deborah J. Margol, Deputy Director of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs prior to the 8PM performance.
