Feeding South Florida, the leading domestic hunger-relief organization serving South Florida, will host its 2nd annual Food Insecurity Summit, in partnership with Humana. The purpose of the summit is to convene community stakeholders around the issue of food insecurity in South Florida, the impact it has on the economy and health, and develop mutually-agreed upon next steps and solutions toward increasing food access.

Participants will discuss food access and define this conversation to the community at large. They will cover four tracks of food rescue: municipality/policy, technology/innovation, corporate/retailers and health/hunger. Other topics addressed will be government and policy actions, retail/corporate involvement, agricultural involvement, health care, institutional settings and charitable response.

In addition, participants will learn about South Florida food insecurity landscape and increasing food access for all. Feeding South Florida representatives will share data on the need in the South Florida community, challenges and solutions toward ending hunger in South Florida.

Feeding America®’s nationwide initiative, Hunger Action Month (HAM) is when people stand together with Feeding America and the nationwide network of food banks to fight hunger. It’s a month to spread the word and take action on the hunger crisis, and for people to dedicate themselves to finding a solution. Throughout the month, Feeding South Florida will offer a range of events and activities to encourage South Florida residents to get involved in hunger relief efforts.

Free and open to the public. To RSVP, visit feedingsouthflorida.eventbrite.com
