“Quorum: A Human Extravaganza”

This episodic exhibition illustrates pivotal moments in figurative art through the work of fifty exceptional artists, from different countries and backgrounds, despite their varied approaches to media and subjects, these artists are bound by their sustained engagement with the human figure and by their use of patterns as a visual strategy to enhance, entice and inmerse into the viewing experience.

The exhibit is complemented by two projects that merge into one…

QUORUM is a group of 15 Latin American artists presenting selections of their work in painting, drawing, digital art, mixed media or assemblage, that feature the human figure as the primary inspiration and focus . They each represent silent storytellers, waiting to be interpreted by the spectator.

HUMAN EXTRAVAGANZA is an experimental kind of Cadavre Exquis (Exquisite Corpse) based on the Surrealist concept where the participant’s work becomes a significant part of a whole. In our variation of the “cadavre”, we have invited 50 artist from differnt backgrounds, to blindly collaborate in its construction, under the premises of size and theme, the human on its figurative form. Together, these works explore issues of identity and personal history, while revealing the versatility of art as means to capture the diversity and complexity of the contemporary human experience.
