Long Looi Lee was well on his way to becoming an opera singer when he received a scholarship to the Pratt Institute in New York. More than forty years later, Lee continues to incorporate elements of his Asian heritage in his work. Painting koi is both nostalgic and inspiring for Marcy Grosso who recalls feeding the fish in her family’s koi pond flakes of oatmeal when fish food was no longer available in Cuba. MANO is passionate about incorporating unlikely materials in his art; ordinary jute and tree trunks are transformed into extraordinary works for Allegories of the Koi Moon. View the exhibit, meet the artists and learn more about their work on Saturday, August 9th.
