Photographs of Mercadito’s Tacos for Strength on 3/1/11

Mercadito’s “Tacos for Strenght” on Tuesday, March 1, 2011.   “Tacos for Strength” is a year long campaign led by Chef Patricio Sandoval, will feature a taco by a different celebrated chef each month to benefit Share Our Strength.  For March they have Chef Michael Schwartz, owner and chef of Micheal’s Genuine in the Design District and Grand Cayman, offering up a braised beef tongue taco that will be served at all Mercadito locations.  Five percent of sales from Chef Schwartz’s taco will be donated to Share Our Strength. Share Our Strength is a non-profit that is trying to end childhood hunger in America by  connecting children with nutritious food.

We got to taste several different taco: the first one they brought out was the tongue taco and it was amazing, my favorite for the evening. Next we had shrimp taco, which was my second favorite, just a little spicy.  Next we had fish taco was was amazing too and the last taco was a pulled pork with cole slaw.   I loved all of them and highly recommend going during the month of March and trying the tongue taco, you don’t want to miss it, and it is for a very good cause.  Can’t forget to mention to awesome margaritas they have, The Misty Margarita was my favorite, and anyone who knows me knows I love tequila and very picky.
