Downtown Miami Jewish cultural center Next@19th partners with seasoned musicians Reuben Hoch and Misha Glozman to present intriguing performances aimed at fusing musical culture with community-building.

Guava Rugelach Lounge: JewJamm
On Wednesday, February 23, award-winning drummer and composer Reuben Hoch joins Next@19th for a “JewJamm” with Chassidic melodies and contemporary jazz arrangements. Since falling in love with the drums at age 12, Hoch has been featured on many albums including two as leader of his own pack, “The RH Factor,” with Miles Davis alumnus Dave Liebman. Also at the helm of the Chassidic Jazz Project – an organ trio consisting of Hammond B3, guitar and drums – the group plays Jewish music in a Jam Band format drawing influences from Medeski, Martin & Wood, Robert Walters, Galactic and more.

Through Next@19th’s Lounge series, the successful Guava Rugelach Festival which annually celebrates tropical Jewish sound is brought into a monthly cafe environment, complete with coffee and refreshments. Artists featured at the Lounge will present their own musical programs and dialogue in the intimate outdoor setting, showcasing the influence of Jewish Diaspora on music and the arts. Tickets are available at www.BrownPaperTickets.com.
