Books, Books and more Books at the Miami Book Fair International

The 27th Annual Miami Book Fair International was a great success with notable authors and celebrities joining in the fun. As soon as I stepped into the grounds of the Book Fair I was astonished at the big crowds. This book fair like every year had it all books from all over the world and in many languages.

As I was perusing the kiosks, I was welcomed by a scary looking being, a Minotaur, it was one of the stilt walkers that was entertaining the crowds at the fair. Also a lovely 8 foot geisha in stilts, walked amongst them. As I was heading towards one of the book alleys, I noticed the sound of the Mariachis. Low and behold, Mexico was the host country in the Grand Pavilion celebrating the bicentennial of Mexico’s independence. The Pavilion was dedicated to the culture and life of Mexico which included some tasting of this rich country’s cuisine.

As I was enjoying the Pavilion around 4 p.m., I wanted to enjoy myself in some literary knowledge. I entered one of the readings. Linda Gassenheimer, Jack Bishop and Joan Nathan were reading excerpts from their books that related to different types of dishes from the tropical to the Jewish delicacies.

After their reading, Lee Brian Schrager was up next to present his book, “The “Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival Cookbook: Recipes and Behind-the-Scenes Stories from America’s Hottest Chefs”. In the next tent, Emilio Estefan was presenting a reading from his book, “The Rhythm of Success: How An Immigrant Produced His Own American Dream.” At that hour both tents were filled.

All in all so many books, so many stars. This was one of the best Miami Book Fair International that I have ever visited. Can’t wait to next year.
