The 6th Annual Florida International Wine Challenge (FIWC), Florida’s leading professional wine competition, will host its 2010 edition on June 24 and 25, at the luxurious Palms Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida. Once again, the FIWC will bring together a wide group of respected and infuential wine industry professionals, including wholesalers, restaurateurs, retailers and journalists from across the United States as well as internationally to taste hundreds of wines.

This has a major advantage for wineries seeking to increase their presence in Florida, America’s largest wine market behind California. With total consumption in excess of 56 million gallons and retail sales approaching $2 billion, Florida is also the nation’s fastest growing wine market. Wineries from 16 countries including Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Chile, France, Germany, Italy, Lebanon, New Zealand, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, United States and Uruguay submitted their wines in the 5th annual edition for an opportunity to win one of the coveted medals awarded by the FIWC tasting board.

Founded in 2004, the FIWC offers domestic and international wine producers an invaluable and cost-effective opportunity to have their wines put in front of a prestigious group of individuals intimately associated with fne wine. The FIWC remains focused on providing participating wineries with invaluable unbiased feedback that they can use to increase their sales in America and the state of Florida thanks to a unique list of benefts offered to medal winners.

The proceeds from the Florida International Wine Challenge will beneft two very worthwhile charities. We are proud to work with and support both the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation and the Melanie Finley Ovarian Cancer Foundation. After the professional tasting conducted behind closed doors, the wines from the 2010 FIWC will open to the trade, media and general public to give them an opportunity to test their palates against the participating panelists. This event will also further support our charitable partners.

Gold & Silver Medal winners will be featured in the 2010 edition of the Miami International Wine Fair, October 16 and 17. These wines will shown poured at the VIP section of the Fair. The timing for this is perfect; it will be just as people are beginning to consider their holiday wine purchases.

FIWC will facilitate distribution services for companies without representation in Florida to be able to take advantage of all the benefts offered. Regional and national wine, lifestyle and entertainment publications will feature full-page advertisements listing all Gold medal winners in the months following the event.

FIWC’s PR agency with offces in Miami and Orlando will manage the event’s communication campaign and promote the competition’s results regionally, nationwide and internationally.
