Miami, FL, January 27, 2009 – The Miami art scene is exploding. America’s largest art week recently passed, surrounding Art Basel Miami Beach, featuring dozens of art fairs and tens of thousands of art patrons. The monthly art walks all across Miami bustle with more and more people, where just a few years ago they were quiet. Art galleries are springing up all across the city. People travel from all over the world to discover what we already know: Miami, the Magic City, has a creative soul.

David Lombardi, head of Lombardi Properties has seen this phenomenon and made a bold move to support the bourgeoning art scene. Lombardi Properties will be the host sponsor for the inaugural Life Is Art Miami Featured Artist Fair on March 7th at their 1926 Seminole Building property at 120 NW 25th Street in the fast growing Wynwood Arts District.

Life Is Art is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the arts in Miami and the surrounding area. They are producing their first art fair developed to feature Miami and south Florida based artists. Future projects include regular arts events, as well as an arts incubator.

Co-founder James Echols said, “We have seen such a growth of gifted artists in Miami, yet there seems to be a lack of focus on our own locals.” The other fairs and galleries feature artists from all over the world, which is a wonderful thing. “But, we have such talent in our own back yard that we decided that there should be a fair with a Miami focus,” Echols said.

Echols and partner and co-founder, Annette Peikert, assembled a group of fellow Miami artists and art lovers to produce the event.

R. E. Sanchez, working Miami artist and art educator, is the Artistic Director. His ties to the artist community and his knowledge of art promise to bring excellent work to the fair.

Talmage Thornhill was chosen as the Marketing Director for her long experience in the entertainment and nightlife business. She also brings a degree in the fine art of ballet, which informs her artistic sensibilities.

Susan J. Lewis brings her many years as a musician, DJ, and producer to her position as Music Director. She is also heading up the environmental aspect of the event, with her five years of professional work in environmental conservation. She is currently director of an environmental education center in Miami, is an active member of various environmental organizations, and holds a graduate degree in environmental education, management and conservation.

Financial Director Adriana De Welde has many years experience as a financial analyst and is a lifelong art lover, as well as an amateur filmmaker. Her keen business sense provides a stable base from which to build an efficient organization.

Co-founders Annette Peikert and James Echols have been involved in event production for years, having produced their own events, as well as working with numerous others. They are long time art lovers, having collected since they were in college.

Artists interested in participating should contact the organization through the website, www.lifeisartfest.org.
