Florida Grand Opera opens The Tales of Hoffmann 1/22-2/12/11

Florida Grand Opera opens The Tales of Hoffmann. Get ready for a wild ride!

Jan. 22, 25, 28 & 30 / Feb. 2 & 5, Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts
Feb. 10 & 12, Broward Center for the Performing Arts

Drig! Drig! Drig! (Drink! Drink! Drink!) Welcome to Luther’s Tavern!
Pull up a chair and join a group of rowdy students as Hoffmann engrosses them with three twisted tales of his past loves: OLYMPIA, a sexy mechanical doll, ANTONIA, a doomed singer and GIULIETTA, a high class Venetian courtesan. All three of Hoffmann’s loves will be sung in a tour de force performance by Metropolitan Opera sensation Elizabeth Futral, whom the New York Times calls “vocally splendid!”

Based on the delightfully bizarre stories of famous 19th century German writer E.T.A. Hoffmann, FGO’s production of this popular and beautifully melodic French opera by Jacques Offenbach features wildly imaginative and mind bending costumes, props, sets and staging. Includes the famous duet “Barcarole.”
