Gulfstream Park’s Curlin Florida Derby returns on Saturday, March 30th, one of Florida’s most legendary races leading up to the Kentucky Derby. The Curlin Florida Derby showcases the world’s best horses and jockeys competing for the coveted title of Florida Derby Winner on their road to the Triple Crown.

A true spectacle on and off the track, the Curlin Florida Derby is the place to see and be seen for fans and the horse racing community. Rub elbows with celebrities, television and film personalities, and the industry’s top horse owners, trainers, and jockeys in a week-long celebration.

Egg-citement is in the air with an annual egg hunt at MODS!

Join us for a day filled with curiosity and creativity as we delve into the fascinating world of animals that hatch from eggs. Then join the engineering challenge that’ll leave you egg-static, as you attempt the ultimate egg drop from a dizzying height, all while ensuring your precious cargo (an egg) stays intact. It’s an egg-splosive day of learning, adventure, and tons of fun! The grand prize for the egg hunt will be a Squishmallow basket.

8:30 a.m. – Check-in begins for ages 1-6. | 9 a.m. – Check-in begins for ages 7-10.

South Florida’s award-winning attraction features 150,000 square feet of dynamic science exhibits, an outdoor science park, a live animal collection, a rotating schedule of science shows, learning labs, café, store, and a grand atrium featuring the Great Gravity Clock, a 52-foot-tall kinetic energy sculpture: the largest clock in Florida. The showpiece of the museum since 1993, this unique timepiece is one of only three in the world.

Children can also visit and investigate underwater marvels in MODS’ Voyage to the Deep – Underwater Adventures, a new traveling exhibit. “Seas” the day and embark on the legendary Nautilus submarine with Captain Nemo for an interactive journey of underwater exploration!

History Fort Lauderdale and Galleria Fort Lauderdale will celebrate the impactful women of today who lead our community alongside their groundbreaking historical female predecessors who helped to pave the way to success in its “Women Trailblazers: Champions of Change – Broward County” 2024 presented by UKG free photography exhibition. The exhibit runs through March 31 at Galleria Fort Lauderdale (2414 E. Sunrise Boulevard) during Women’s History Month.

This year’s celebrated women of today are Arlene Pecora, president and CEO of Signature Grand, Jenni Morejon, president and CEO of the Fort Lauderdale Downtown Development Authority, Laurie Sallarulo, president and CEO of Junior Achievement of South Florida, Sigrid McCawley, managing partner of Boies Schiller Flexner, and Jasmin Shirley, program director, CIED,HICP, of Broward Regional Health Planning Council, Inc.

Past pioneering women counterparts to be highlighted in the photo exhibit include Jeanne Goon Moy (1913-2006), owner and operator of Moy Chinese Restaurant in Hollywood, Florence Hardy (1897-1975), the City of Fort Lauderdale’s first female city clerk and sometime acting city manager who collaborated with the Chamber of Commerce to build Las Olas canals, bridges, and isles, Blanche Forman (1886-1959), who established Hamilton and Blanche Forman Foundation to support education and donated land for the now esteemed Nova Southeastern University, Barbara Bridge (1929-2016), the first female county court judge and second female circuit court judge, and Betty Mae Tiger Jumper (1923-2011), the first Seminole to graduate high school and earn a higher education nursing degree. Tiger Jumper spent most of her adult life advocating for the Seminole community and improving healthcare services.
