Fine Wine, Film, and “Love-Inducing Darts” at Wine by the Bay
A Free Cultural Series Event in Collaboration with The Indie Film Club of Miami

Miami, FL…February 8, 2012…Wine by the Bay, Downtown Miami’s newest fine wine and art boutique, will host the first of its local artist cultural series events in collaboration with The Indie Film Club of Miami. “God of Love” – a free short film screening and wine tasting event will celebrate Valentine’s Day with urban style at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012, Wine by the Bay, 888 Biscayne Blvd., Suite 112 at the Marine Blue, Miami, FL, 33132. Four films about Love will be paired with Cĥateau de Marres Rosé and strawberries dipped in chocolate!

Lined up for the Valentine’s event are:

God of Love – directed by Luke Matheny. This 2011 Academy Award “Best Live-Action Short” winner tells the story of a lovestruck, lounge-singing, darts champion who has his “prayers answered” literally when he mysteriously receives a box of love-inducing darts. Stretch (music video) – directed by Arturo Cubacub with gorgeous music written and performed by the luminous Sarah Weiss.

Kaliedocorp – directed by local filmmaker Brad Klipfel. This official selection at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, portrays a young man who interns for the world’s first supernatural corporation.

Dame Factory – directed by Melanie Abramov, is a sexy, stylish, yet grotesque film exploring the female body and sexuality. Nominated “Best Experimental” Miami Short Film Festival; Winner “Best Experimental” Brooklyn Short Film and Coney Island Film Festivals. Trailer – http://vimeo.com/18886219

“The Indie Film Club of Miami is ecstatic to partner with Wine by the Bay for our monthly wine and cinema series. Great films paired with great wine are a match made in heaven, like a ragout of exotic wild mushrooms and Saint-Estephe Bordeaux or Woody Allen and Manhattan,” remarks event organizer, Diliana Alexander.

Alexander hopes to continue regularly holding this free event at Wine by the Bay, allowing the organization to bring to the public a thematically curated evening, paired with the right wine and nibblers. “Indulge your senses, explore your heart, and expand your palette,” she concludes.

Formed in 1999, The Indie Film Club of Miami currently has over 800 active members. The organization’s goal is to spearhead a movement of local filmmakers, actors, screen writers, cinematographers, artists, musicians, and dancers who like to create, collaborate and be inspired. The group is led by Diliana Alexander, Jose Jacho and Kate Avery, all local writers/directors/producers and programmers. Collectively, they have worked for some of the best international film festivals including: Toronto International Film Festival; Miami International Film Festival; Hot Docs, Toronto; Miami Short Film Festival; Art Basel (Miami) Film Festival; and Festival de Nouveau Cinema, Quebec.

Recently opened, Wine by the Bay is a retail wine boutique that hosts regular wine tastings and an ever-changing art exhibition. The store provides a selection suitable for all tastes and budgets. Owner and gallerist, Stefano Campanini (who also owns Etra Fine Art in the Design District) plans to regularly host events such as poetry readings, film screenings, and lectures that showcase local artists.

Commenting on Downtown Miami’s development, Campanini remarks: “I love the crowd and the energy. Having an art and wine store across from the new Miami Art Museum and Science Museum, next to Genting Resorts World Miami, and the Freedom Tower is beyond what I could have ever imagined. Many upscale restaurants and bars have moved their headquarters here because it will be the top area in our city. This vibe can’t be found anywhere else in Miami.”
