Imagine Miami is Catalyst Miami’s annual fundraising event, and one of the most fun events of the year! You are invited to join new and old friends for a cocktail party at Casa Florida on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. Casa Florida is a stylish bar with mostly outdoor spaces, tropical greenery, and Florida vintage décor. It will provide a beautiful backdrop for this fundraiser in which Dr. Cheryl Holder will be honored with the 2021 Community Catalyst Award. The event will feature a special celebrity appearance by actor/activist Mark Ruffalo, networking with past honorees, and stories of Catalyst Miami clients and program graduates. Guests will enjoy a raffle, wine surprise wall, photo booth, and other fun interactive moments. The funds raised from this event help us provide all our programs and services at no cost to thousands of low-wealth individuals and families across Miami-Dade County each year.

The 2021 Community Catalyst Award honoree, Dr. Cheryl L. Holder, is a nationally renowned champion for health equity and climate justice. A Fellow in the American College of Physicians, she has dedicated her medical career to serving underserved populations. She has served as a National Health Service Corp Scholar, Medical Director of one of Miami’s largest community health centers, and participated in NIH and CDC health advisory and programmatic review panels. Since 2009, as faculty at Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University, she focuses on teaching the impact of social determinants of health on health outcomes, addressing diversity in health professions through pipeline programs, increasing awareness of HIV prevention and health impact of climate change. Dr. Holder also serves in many leadership roles in several other medical and climate change-focused organizations, including Co-Chair of Florida Clinicians for Climate Action. Most recently, TED Talk selected her 2020 “The link between climate change, health and poverty” as one of 25, Editor’s Pick.

For those who are not ready to meet in person, join us for a second day of celebration virtually on Thursday, September 30th, 2021 for “Dr. Cheryl Holder Day”! All day long, we’ll be highlighting Dr. Holder’s impactful work on Catalyst Miami social media channels. You can follow along on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter: @catalystmiami.
