Jeronimo’s Bar Opens South of Fifth

Jeronimo Hirschfeld, visionary businessman and developer, has officially opened Jeronimo’s Bar, a much needed neighborhood bar/lounge that promises to bring a breath of fresh air to the South Beach nightlife scene. Located in the more sophisticated South of Fifth neighborhood of Miami Beach, Jeronimo’s Bar sets out to distinguish itself as the alternative to the loud and boisterous club options currently permeating the area.

Occupying approximately 2,400 square-feet, Jeronimo’s Bar is located in the South of Fifth (SoFi) neighborhood of South Beach at 814 First Street, Miami Beach, FL 33139.

Discouraged by the lack of diversity in the scene, Jeronimo’s Bar was inspired by Hirschfeld’s desire to create an environment that was warm, inviting and the antithesis of other South Beach destinations. Unlike other venues in the vicinity, Jeronimo’s Bar is a place to bring friends for quality conversation and savory drinks. Modern, minimalist décor and industrial overtones come together to produce a space that is both intimate and welcoming. The maple wood tables and lounge seating play upon classic bar elements while louver wood panels and exposed brick line the walls to generate an open and roomy finish.

“I have lived in the area for several years and recognized a void for a good neighborhood bar that offers a full premium bar and is opened late,” says Hirschfeld. “I found this great location and thought this is the ideal space to create a contemporary and inviting lounge with great cocktails and music for locals in the area. I wanted to create a place where I would want to come and hang-out with my friends.”

Jeronimo’s Bar’s octopus logo is a testament to Hirschfeld’s entrepreneurial spirit, signifying his many interests and business ventures. The symbol also pays homage to the bar’s playful tagline, “Once you’re here…you’ll never leave.” The logo includes a radio tower as well because Jeronimo’s Bar is located behind a local radio station. Subtle branding is frequent throughout the space; there are understated octopus patterns that reoccur across the venue and an original painting depicting an old world underwater diver is situated near the back of the bar. Patrons can enjoy a drink at the elongated custom-made bar, banquettes or lounge seating areas. There is also an old-fashioned popcorn maker at the bar, highlighting the venue’s carnivalesque spirit.

DJ Gunars, Eyal Agai from Pirate Stereo and DJ Ruen have created the music programming for the bar. The musical selections span across the board, offering something for everyone’s taste, incorporating old school hip-hop and funk, new wave and rock & roll.

The cocktail menu features several signature drinks, including: Jeronimo’s Punch: Zu Bison Grass Vodka, St-Germain, fresh squeezed lemon and mint topped with ginger ale; Octopus’ Garden: Death Door Gin, cucumbers, lime slices, sugar and mint; Azucar Morena: Johnny Walker Black, cream soda, brown sugar and lime; and Platino Fizz: Jose Cuervo Platino, crème de cassis and ginger beer. Jeronimo’s also offers a variety of red and white wines, as well as domestic and international beers.

This emerging neighborhood is quickly becoming a destination spot for both locals and tourists alike, offering patrons a refuge from the congestion north of Fifth Street. With its attention to detail, inviting ambiance and premium bar selection, Jeronimo’s Bar is certain to become a favorite among locals in the area, a home away from home. Jeronimo’s Bar is open seven days a week, Monday through Sunday, from 6pm to 4:30am. There is plenty of parking; patrons can choose to self-park or valet. Jeronimo’s Bar will be opening a second location in Brickell later this month.
