7:00 pm – Dr. Paul George – Walking tour of Little Havana

7:00 – 7:30 pm – Severo Martinez
A New Mexico native, Severo Martinez is the recipient of the Upcoming Artist of the Year Award. He brings cumbia flavor with a touch of tropical rhythm to Miami. His style is very versatile, with a band that has embraced musicians from all over the United States. Severo is not only a musician, but also an all-around entertainer that will have everyone up and dancing.

7:30 – 8:00 pm – Capoeira
An Afro-Brazilian blend of martial arts, acrobatics and dance, is a marvelous act to watch. This group of Capoeira students and instructors will show off their moves on our stage.

8:00 – 9:30 pm – Charanga La Original
These exclusive young musicians from Florida International University spearhead this prestigious Danzon/Charanga orchestra, led by distinguished flautist, Nestor Torres. The repertoire of the group is based on traditional Cuban music, with a focus on Danzon.

9:30 – 11:00 pm – Elaine y su Cubaney
Cuban born, Elayne Hernandez can sing a bolero, a guaguanco or a timba with rhythm, soul and unique style. Winner of Univision’s Idolo Latino and Minuto de Fama of America Teve, this guarachera will keep you dancing all night.

Children’s Art Clinic
Viernes Culturales is pleased to present Cuenteros & Co. sponsor company of the International Hispanic Story Festival Miami. Cuenta, presents October’s Children’s Arts Clinic. With an interactive show, children of all ages will experience fairy tales with an extra twist. Join us for a night of fun for the whole family.All children, ages 4-16 are welcome.

Little Havana Past, Present & Future
This presentation will explain the dramatic transformation of Little Havana over the past 20 years. Panel members include: Dr. Juan Clark, Professor, Emeritus of Sociology at Miami Dade College; Dr. Paul George, famed South Florida historian; Oliver Kerr, Urban Planner and Chief Demographer for Miami-Dade County Planning Department and Jose Casanova, Architect and Urban Planner for Miami Dade County for 32 years, in charge of Little Havana projects.
