Singers from the Florida Grand Opera Young Artist program will perform selections from the popular Zarzuela Luisa Fernanda and other popular selections from FGO’s current and upcoming seasons.

Learn to Dance
Learn the latest tropical steps and moves while enjoying an hour of fun on the dance floor with all-star Latin dancers Denisse and JC. They will teach merengue, danzón, salsa, sones, and many more steps to get you moving.

8:15 – 9:30 pm
Modernity
Conceptually, visually, and musically, Modernity is all about expressing the ideas of this day and age. With a musical outlook that pushes the boundaries of soul music, Modernity pours heart-felt saxophone solos blended with an intense rhythm section into every record and performance. Modernity is jazz meets rock, meets Latin, meets soul.

Lanzallamas Monofonica
Charged with melodic fire and global rhythmic chemistry. They truly encompass the diversity that defines a quintessential world music band. LM tastefully blends elements of music and world culture, ranging from; Afro Caribbean, South American folklore, Rhythm and blues, jazz, funk and a twist of Eastern melodic grooves.Their sound is fresh, exciting, and geared towards the future. Lanzallamas evokes joy and an uplifting spirited dancing urge in the audience; always receiving a standing ovation! LM is on a mission to heal the world through music!

Legendary local historian Dr. Paul George leads a walking tour of Little Havana each month. Learn the fascinating details about Little Havana’s history, people and places.
Viernes Culturales is pleased to announce “Romp Through Little Havana.” This tour of Little Havana will focus on the historic Conch Hill Neighborhood, Peter & Paul Parish and The Roads neighborhood.
Where: Meet in front of the Tower Theater (1508 SW 8th St.)

Children’s Art Clinic
Viernes Culturales is pleased to present a brand new series of arts workshops for kids, the Children’s Arts Clinic! As September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, this month’s event will feature a Zumba class, led by some of the most up-beat Zumba instructors in Miami. All children, ages 4-16 are welcome. Stay tuned to find out the exciting plans for next month’s clinic!

The Living Statue Performer, has been mesmerizing crowds at Viernes Culturales for many years. Daniela is a statue and award winning sculptor. She loves performing as a Living Statue at Viernes Culturales and giving so much positive energy to all that stop and pose with her!

Yovani Bauta is a Cuban painter who shares his talent with his community as a professor at Miami-Dade College. This exhibition will feature works by Bauta’s students with a focus on the female anatomy.
