Following their tradition of bringing the best of classic ballet for the families, Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida presents: “Fairy Doll” by composer Josef Bayer and choreographed by Maestro Vladimir Issaev.
“Fairy Doll”, originally “Die Puppenfee” was first performed in 1888, and was one of the most successful productions in the late 19th century. Issaev recreated this ballet in two acts in 2009. “Bayer’s music is so inspiring and beautiful, I could not let his opportunity pass by”, says Issaev. “I fell in love with every variation of this music and the more I researched, the more I felt South Florida’s audiences deserved a ballet production of this kind.”
It tells the story of a young boy who works in a doll store that has distinctive dolls from different countries and a beautiful Fairy Doll. Customers just fall in love with the stunning doll. At the end of the day, the owner of the store closes the shop, and the young and distracted assistant is left alone, locked inside. As the night falls, the tired young boy cannot believe his eyes! The Fairy Doll comes to life, and with her magic, she brings all the toys of the store to life.
The production counts on creative and imaginative costume designer Jorge Gallardo to make all the ballet dancers look like real dolls and the sets. On the main roles dancers Lillian Hill, Yuki Beppu, Takayuki Asai, Hirofumi Kitazume and Ramil Bagmanov will share the stage during these four fantastic performances along the rest of the professional corps of ballet.
There will be more than 60 dolls that will come to life from March, 7th to 15th at Aventura Arts & Cultural Centre and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
