A Look at Some of the Most Talented and Legendary Graffiti and Street artists of All Time

The recently opened “1004 Gallery and Boutique” will be presenting the newest and most prestigious art show in the Americas, 50 Shades of Art on November 30th 2012 in Wynwood, Miami’s hottest and eclectic art design district. The exhibition will be showcasing works by the biggest pioneers and the hottest up and coming graffiti artists and street artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. The artists include: Cap, Cope2, Sero, T-Kid, Estria, Sen2, Teck, Secret 007, Rson, Indie184 and Lyne.

50 Shades of Art is an exhibition that sets the standards and raises the bar for graffiti, answers how graffiti itself has continued to thrive and evolve among the new and older generations of graffiti and street artists, and what it will now do to influence younger artists and the contemporary art market. 50 Shades of Art strives to present graffiti as a true form of art and in the process educates the viewer on the fundamentals of graffiti and street art and how and why it has integrated and influenced our modern culture. Furthermore, art critics and collectors alike will marvel at the shows extensive history of urban contemporary art and will witness the legends and the hottest artists behind the artworks.
Conveniently located in the heart of Wynwood, Miami’s most popular design art district, the 1004 Gallery and Boutique will showcase 50 Shades of Art during the dates of Art Basel, the most important art show in the United States. Art Basel welcomes international art collectors, art dealers, artists, curators and other art enthusiasts by the thousands during this extraordinary event where they will witness some of the highest-quality paintings, sculptures, drawings, installations, photographs, video and editioned works. Can you say “perfect timing”?

Enrique “Sero” Cruz director, owner, curator and exhibiting artist of the 1004 Gallery & Boutique mission was to bring to life a show that will evoke the true essence of graffiti and to reveal to the masses all elements of graffiti and street art. An experienced and long-term graffiti artist, Sero has definitely made his mark in the art community and captured the attention of the mainstream population throughout his 30 year career. During his art profession, Sero has influenced the graffiti movement by pushing the envelope with countless styles and techniques he has created like the great masters before him. Today Sero has been dubbed as one of “THE LAST KINGS” who has come out of the golden era of the New York graffiti movement in the 1980’s and continues to transcend the test of time. He is currently affiliated with legendary iconic crews such as FBA, FC, IBM and SCW who are featured in the book Subway Art and famed documentary Style Wars. Sero has also been featured in the book The History of American Graffiti by Roger Gastman, famed director and also producer of legendary award winning documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, featuring notorious street artists Banksy and Mr.
Brainwash. Sero has also been featured in the publication Miami Graffiti by James and Karla Murray.

Aside from his extraordinary accomplishments as a mainstream graffiti artist, Sero’s true mission is to educate the viewer of this exciting yet sacred form of art. According to Sero his ultimate goal is, “to enlighten those who do not understand this culture”, and he has definitely fulfilled his ambition by putting together a show that will unquestionably achieve this.

As graffiti gains more recognition and exposure on a global scale, 50 Shades of Art is an exhibition that will answer why graffiti is a global phenomenon, will showcase some of the legends that helped to launch this very sacred underground yet unique art movement to epic proportions, and most importantly acknowledge why this free form art is and will continue to be extremely valuable among young and older art collectors.
