It’s “All Hands on Deck” as Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino invites the public to help welcome our sea-going military personnel at its annual spectacular kick-off party, the largest Fleet Week celebration in South Florida.

More than 2,500 men and women of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard will arrive to participate in South Florida’s 22nd annual celebration of the maritime services. This year’s Humana Military Fleet Week Port Everglades 2012 presented by Advocate Homecare will commemorate the bicentennial of the War of 1812. A variety of fun and friendly activities including a Ship’s Call and a Sailor of the Year presentation, live entertainment by the “Pride” Navy Band and a swimsuit contest at Hooter’s will lead-up to a spectacular musically synchronized fireworks display at 9 p.m.

Seminole Paradise retailers will also be offering various food and drink specials all evening.

Fleet Week Port Everglades 2012 is organized by Broward Navy Days, Inc., a non-profit organization assisting with the morale and welfare of the crew members of our nation’s sea-going services: the Navy, Coast Guard and Marines.

Each year, thousands of sailors aboard multiple ships dock in Port Everglades for a week-long series of community service projects, special events and more. This year’s participating ships and units include:

• Amphibious Assault, USS Wasp (LHD-1)
• Guided Missile Cruiser, USS Gettysburg (CG-64)
• Guided Missile Cruiser, USS San Jacinto (CG-56)
• Frigate, USS Dewert (FFG-45)
• Submarine (SSN)
• Coast Guard Cutter, USCGC Bernard Webber (WPC-1101)
