Gary Nader welcomes renowned dancer, actor and photographer Mikhail Baryshnikov to Miami for his first solo photography show, “Dance This Way.”

Featuring never before seen photographic works from unique dances all over the world, the show highlights ethnic dance, hip-hop, ballet, popular dance and more.

Baryshnikov, as a dancer, has the advantage to capture the soul of dance, the motion of the bodies and subtle expression of the dancers with his camera lens. His talent lies in confining a unique ephemeral instant showing how dancers move through space, capturing movement and stillness at the same time with freedom and vitality.

German avant-garde photographer Ilse Bing and American photographers Paul Himmel and Irving Penn influenced Baryshnikov’s work. Their legacy is determined by the softness of the forms, the approach to bodies articulating them as abstract figures, in some cases abbreviating silhouettes and elongating forms to the point of abstraction where photos turned as pictorial metaphors.

The exhibition marks Gary Nader’s continued mission to bring world-class art and exhibitions to the Miami art scene. Nader and Baryshnikov will be donating a percentage of sales from the show to Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship.

The largest gallery in the world, Gary Nader Art Centre, is situated in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District of Miami.
