Introducing Photographer Matt Stock, Painting with Light in the Dark® – From an early age, Matt Stock wanted to change the world. He just didn’t know how he would do it. He took the traditional path of attending medical school but saw the world differently. Through the lens of a camera he realized that his passion in life lay in photography and not medicine. He pursued his career in photography by studying at the renowned Miami Ad School on Miami Beach. Matt has always had an interest in bringing untold stories into the limelight; whether it is the under-appreciated history of a forgotten building or the story of those who cannot speak for themselves. Matt actively participates with the Special Olympics as an official photographer to tell inspiring stories of exceptional people and has been recognized through several awards including an Honorable Mention in the prestigious 2010
International Photography Awards. Stiltsville Illuminated represents the amazing product of a true artist, who likens himself to a conductor of an orchestra as he must coordinate and direct long and sometimes life-threatening shots in the water and then spend hours developing the perfect result through what he describes as the applied mathematics and science of photography. Visit http://www.mattstockphoto.com for the complete portfolio of Photographer Matt Stock and his photographic process of Painting with Light in the Dark®.

Additional artists and exhibitors in the historic Coast Guard hangar at Shake-a-Leg Miami include: Carlos Alves and J.C. Carroll, Michele Ariemma, Lynn Fecteau, “The Bridge Project”, Rebecca Kyourac, David Lebo, Joyce Neilsen, Erik Speyer, Ida Tejada, Paula Turk, Clara Varas, and “Emily C. Moises Center”.

Shake-a-Leg Miami http://www.shakealegmiami.org is a not-for-profit institution of Miami that, among many programs for the community, teaches disabled individuals how to sail and helps them gain confidence in life through the experience of navigating the water. Proceeds from ticket sales of Stiltsville Illuminated are going towards the continuation of programs for children at Shake-a-Leg Miami.

Ransom Everglades School http://www.ransomeverglades.org was founded in 1903 in Florida as the Southern half of an interdisciplinary, migratory boarding school for boys. In 1955 the school combined with an elite local girls’ school where the academic focus remained on the importance of experiential learning. Students have always been taught through the value of commitment to the community at Ransom Everglades School, which, with its incredible history remains the oldest waterfront institution in Coconut Grove, Florida. In addition to being very supportive of the arts and community the school has shown avid support for Shake-a-Leg Miami over the years.

The Stiltsville Trust http://www.stiltsvilletrust.org is a non-profit institution (501C3) made up of a group of volunteer caretakers in charge of the protection and preservation of the (only seven remaining) Stiltsville houses. Located one mile south of Key Biscayne and about eight miles East off the coast of downtown Miami, the Stiltsville houses are a stunning set of uniquely designed and colorful structures, on stilts to bare the tides, that were used as get-aways by fishermen and various characters – one was even used as a speakeasy back in the day! Access to Stiltsville is by permit only. Proceeds from ticket sales of Stiltsville Illuminated will help in the preservation and care of the seven remaining Stiltsville houses.
