At the forefront of emerging trends in Spanish dance and flamenco, Nuevo Ballet Español draws on traditional dance, a 21st century pop sensibility and folkloric influences from AndalucÃa. In their new show, Cambio de Tercio, Angel Rojas and Carlos RodrÃguez, two of Spain’s most influential choreographers, deliver a dazzling mix of traditional and contemporary styles, performed by the full company of dancers and musicians in an exciting opening to MDC Live Arts’ 22nd season.
Rojas and RodrÃguez also explore the idea of transformation: from the street to the stage, from today to yesterday, from Spanish dance to flamenco music. As the British newspaper Metro states it "Rojas and RodrÃguez put a fresh spin on flamenco that taps into passions both old and new."
