Works to be unveiled include an expansive, permanent 248foot, tile mosaic and a custom dog sculpture, which is part of the SmARTy Dog for SmART Schools program, commissioned to raise money for electronic “Smart Boards” to be installed in classrooms.

Official Artist of the Latin Grammy Artist, Miguel Paredes, is a longtime Pincecrest resident and father of 3 children currently attending Pinecrest elementary. In effort to continue his commitment to the community, Paredes will unveil two separate charitable art projects; 9AM, Wednesday, October 19th, Pinecrest Elementary Courtyard, 1250 SW 57th Avenue, Miami. Paredes drew inspiration for the mosaic mural from former Pinecrest teacher, Roberta Brand, whose love of the arts influenced hundreds of students through the years.

Additionally, Paredes is involved with SmARTy Dogs for SmART Schools, a program produced by Prince Media Development, aimed at raising thousands of dollars necessary to purchase and install “Smart Boards” in classrooms. Smart Boards are large, oversized, interactive screens loaded with teaching applications to engage students and enhance the classroom learning experience. Maurice’s Jewelers, a Pinecrest institution since 1935, sponsored Paredes SmArty Dog. Paredes became the first MiamiQDade resident to ever receive two simultaneous proclamations from the City of Miami Beach and Village of Pinecrest honoring his mural donation to the Miami Design Preservation League’s, Art Deco Welcome Center in support of historic preservation, his devotion to the city and positive impact on the community.
