Redevelopment Agency (CRA) proudly announces the official semi-finalists for The People’s Choice Barbecue Cook-off, a free public event designed to celebrate
Overtown’s rich culinary legacy while creating a transformative business opportunity for a local entrepreneur.
The cook-off will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the 9th Street Pedestrian Mall (819 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL
33136).
The three semi-finalists competing for the opportunity to lease the fully renovated
Historic People’s Barbecue Building are:
- Extra Butter Miami competing as People’s Outlaw BBQ
- Rosie’s competing as Black Pit BBQ
- McKays Catering competing as Queen of the Kitchen
At the conclusion of the competition, one finalist will earn the lease for the historic property — ushering in a new chapter for a landmark that has served Overtown for more than 50 years.
