The 8th Annual South Beach Jazz Festival’s all-star showcase, Society Jazz Night, will be in full swing on the great lawn of Collins Park and The Bass with top-shelf saxophonist and bandleader Vincent Herring and his hard-bop soul jazz supergroup, SOMETHING ELSE!, featuring guest star pianist/organist and child prodigy Matthew Whitaker, who will be sitting in with the acclaimed septet for their Miami Beach debut. Blind since birth, Whitaker’s blazing, soulful technique on the Hammond organ evokes a young Stevie Wonder, and his innate mastery of improvisation is what separates him from a good musician to a new jazz legend in the making.
