The City of Hialeah presents the South Florida premiere of Voices From Mariel, the first film to comprehensively explore the lives affected by the 1980 Mariel exodus through never before seen footage, personal accounts and interviews with those who left and those who stayed behind. Mayor of Hialeah Julio Robaina will host the premiere on Thursday, May 5th, 7:00pm at Muvico Hialeah 12.

A 5:30pm Hollywood -style red carpet is to include the arrivals of: Actor Steven Bauer (Scarface, Primal Fear, Raising Cain) who performs the prologue in the documentary, director Jim Carleton and producers Rob Tritton and Jesse Larson – the filmmaking team behind the crime drama ENDURE from Lakeland FL based production company NFocus, senior producer Adriana Bosch a Miami based/Cuban-born producer, writer, and director whose 2005 PBS special, Fidel Castro, received a Silver Hugo award. Also attending will be members of the featured cast: Cuban-American soprano Elizabeth Caballero, renowned Cuban-born artist Miguel Ordoqui and Dr. Jose García, a faculty member of Florida Southern College in Lakeland, whose desire to return to his birthplace in search of friends and loved ones initiated the making of the film. It is through his journey that the film explores and listens to the unheard Voices From Mariel.

Voices From Mariel is tentatively planned for a June 2011 theatrical release in South Florida. A limited number of DVDs and Blu-ray will be available for purchase at the premiere, online at http://voicesfrommariel.com and at Publix Sabor locations in Miami.
