The Wolfsonian-FIU Celebrates Democracy!

Watch for The Wolfsonian’s Smart Cars zooming around the streets of Miami, each customized with a quote about democracy from a renowned artist or designer with graphics created by Elliott Earls, Cranbrook Academy of Art’s artist-in-residence.

For Art Basel VIP’s and Wolfsonian Propagandist+ members a special reception designed by Kate Spade on December 5 from 8 to 11 p.m. Elliott Earls performs a piece inspired by the Thoughts on Democracy exhibit. Award-winning British photographer Martin Parr will be on hand to capture images from the event.

Free and open to the public on December 6 from 1 to 5 p.m. – Design Marathon: Five Minutes of Designed Freedom with 35 artists taking the stage for 5 minutes to express themselves. This event celebrates our right to freedom of expression and honors Dutch designer Wim Crouwel. Debbie Millman of Design Matters will moderate. A multi-media performance by Elliott Earls follows at 5:30 p.m.
