10:00 a.m.: Performance by Cecilia Vicuna in Main Gallery
Participatory improvisational performance by the artist, the creation of a living quipu. Inspired by the ancient Andean tradition of “talking knots,” the living quipu will celebrate tactile knowledge and interconnections across the cosmos. This performance is a dynamic form of storytelling in which unspun wool and language weave a vibrant matrix of connections and possibility.
10:45 a.m.: Conversation with the Artist
Cecilia Vicuna and exhibition co-curators Andrea Andersson, The Helis Foundation Chief Curator of Visual Arts at the CAC and Julia Bryan-Wilson, Professor, University of California, Berkeley will unpack ideas and contexts informing the artist’s process through a conversation in MOCA’s Pavilion Gallery.
