After an excellent project at the Miami City Cemetery in August,  we will be returning there on the morning of Sat, Sept 7 to complete our work by planting additional flowering trees and shrubs – as well as maintenance and fertilizing of our many existing trees in order  to get them in top condition.

Our goal has been to return this property to an oasis of urban greenery and a defacto botanical garden. TREEmendous Miami has been pursing this very worthwhile endeavor for years, and we hope  a well-attended push on Sept 7 can finish the project.

Kudos to our President, Penny Lambeth, and to TREEmendous board member George Childs for being the leaders of this effort, but heartfelt thanks are extended to all of the many board members and volunteers of TREEmendous Miami who have worked to make this a reality. Special thanks are due Gary Hunt and Lenny Goldstein for their tireless work behind the scene to help make this project a success.

As always, we will provide refreshments for our volunteers as well as some tools. Please wear appropriate clothing for sun protection and, if you have them, please bring a shovel, rake and/or loppers. It would also be very helpful if you can bring a wheel barrow. All planting and maintenance materials will be on site.

You do not need to RSVP, but please come join us to accomplish this important work and have some fun at the same time. Please also bring any family members and friends who also love trees and want to make Miami greener and more environmentally healthy. This is also a fine project to include children as the Cemetery is fenced and protected from traffic.

This is a great project for senior high students needing Community Service hours. Verification certificates will be provided.

Recommended attire includes closed toe shoes, lightweight long pants & long sleeve shirt, shade hat and sunscreen.
