Legendary chef/director of Tuyo at The Miami Culinary Institute and author of the just released recipe book, My Key West Kitchen, Norman Van Aken is returning to the event he helped create more than 14 years ago! Pleasures of the Palate, which benefits the cure-focused work of the Diabetes Research Institute, will be held on January 13, 2013, at a new venue – the exclusive La Gorce Country Club of Miami Beach. According to Chairpersons Tammy and Steven Klein, it’s an evening that food and wine aficionados will not want to miss!
Not only will guests enjoy a private, gourmet dinner designed and prepared by Van Aken in concert with La Gorce Executive Chef Tim Nickey, but they’ll also receive a copy of the book that inspired it! Each of the four tantalizing courses will reflect excerpts from My Key West Kitchen, which he co-wrote with his son, Justin Van Aken, and each will be paired with the perfect wines to enhance flavors, donated by Republic National Distributing Company. Topping it off for oenophiles and travel enthusiasts alike, a silent and a live auction, led by Lyn Farmer, will boast rare wine lots and exotic vacations.
