Celebration of Life ~ Celebrity Weekend Honoring Derrick Thomas of the Kansas City Chiefs 2/20-22/09

MOM-2-MOM 58 Foundation Announces
Celebration of Life~Celebrity Weekend

The Mom-2-Mom 58 Foundation will host a weekend of activities honoring and celebrating the life and legacy of Derrick Thomas, Kansas City Chief Linebacker, whose life was taken away from us on February 8, 2000, as a result of an automobile accident. These community oriented events are created to support mothers and to give back to the children. We are focusing on giving scholarships to two (2) or more seniors for their academic and athletic achievements. Our goal also is to focus on child safety and health and well being. We need donations from the public, our clients, and sponsors like you to make contributions in order to make these events successful ones.

This will be our first weekend celebration. We would like to make this first year’s celebration a memorable one. We are looking forward to having a fantastic, spirit-filled weekend.

The events will feature celebrities, local and governmental officials, aspiring designers and models, and distinguished hosts. This will be an exciting, fun filled and family-oriented weekend.

About Mom-2-Mom 58 Foundation
The Mom-2-Mom 58 Foundation is a non-profit faith-based organization that was born out of the tragic death of the late Kansas City Chief linebacker Derrick Thomas on February 8, 2000. The founder, Mrs. Edith Morgan, suffered the sudden death of a beloved son whose vehicular accident could have been less tragic had he been wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. She felt a pressing need to get the word out to other mothers about the importance of training our children in the use of seat belts. She also realized shortly thereafter that there were other issues she wanted to address and other situations wherein she wanted to be of service, particularly to mothers and to children. The Mom-2-Mom 58 Foundation focuses on child safety and empowerment and other issues that can impact a mother’s life such as a family member with paralysis, adolescent obesity, juvenile delinquency, domestic violence, heath care, estate planning, etc.

Many people looked up to Derrick Thomas as a role model. He left a tremendous impact on people – even people who did not know him personally. He touched many lives while he was alive and the Mom-2-Mom 58 organization is trying to continue touching lives in his memory by concentrating on strengthening mothers and nurturing children.
